    If I wanna take it this January and can dedicate 30-40 hours a week this semester to studying, what do u recommend I do. I’ve already purchased the IFD high yield book in the past and have Uworld as well. Could u steer me in the right direction? Thank you🙏

    Hey John! if we get the Uworld-IFD course, could I be able to have actual zoom meetings w you or Maggie to understand guide me through some topics? I have to retake the mcat soon and I'm not sure whether i should buy the aamc bundle or your course.

      Hey there, John here! Unfortunately we do not have the time to offer personal tutoring. We're both on surgical rotations right now so we're very stretched for time. It seems like you're asking should you get the AAMC bundle or the IFD x UWorld course? It's a complicated answer but I'll give it to you here. I wouldn't want you to spend all of your money on our course and not have any for the AAMC FLE 1-4. I know that sounds like i'm talking you out of a sale lol but I have your best interest in mind even if it costs us money. Their 6 full length exams are necessary for any solid study program imo. However, what I would recommend in your scenario is to only purchase those exams (you get all four for $140) and then get the IFD x UWorld course to learn the content, learn how it's tested through our lectures/books, and have the UWorld questions and explanations to make sure you have enough repetitions practicing the application of the knowledge. I'm actually working on a schedule for those studying with our course and in it I have included when to use the 6 AAMC exams so you'll have a perfect schedule to fit your materials if that's the option you're pursuing! Shoot us an email at support@informingfuturedoctors.com if you need some more info!

    May I ask how many cards are in the IFD course Anki deck? In the past, Anki has been really overwhelming for me. I was using AnKing which has 6000+ cards, and I was having a really hard time keeping up. Now I am doing the Milesdown deck which is about 2800 cards. It is so much more manageable, and I am able to fill in any gaps by making my own flashcards in UWorld based on the questions I miss. I am not sure if I am putting myself at a disadvantage by using a smaller Anki deck.

    What about February and/or March?

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  3 дні тому +1

      Similar "pro's" to testing in January with two major exceptions
      1. You don't have winter break to take uninterrupted practice exams leading up to the test so it's possible that you go into the test a bit rusty. Most ppl are trying to balance lectures alongside MCAT studying when they test in feb/march and while that's okay at the beginning of your studies, I prefer for students to just focus on the MCAT alone right before they take it. Helps with many students' anxiety too which is important to me. Don't want anyone loosing themselves for an exam :)
      2. It takes one month for you to get your score back so that means you may not get your score back until April. This means that if you don't like the score you got then you only have like a month to restudy before testing in May. This kind of eliminates the "safety net" of testing in January.

    I'm looking at taking it in March over spring break, is that a reasonable compromise if I don't feel I'd be ready in January?

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  2 дні тому

      Certainly! I think if you want to be sure you're going to do well just prepare like you're going to test in January (like how I described in this video) and then that leaves you a month or two to tighten everything up!

    Hey John, if we sign up for the course soon, how could we ask for the anki course? Also do you guys offer sample study plans or have an example of how your study plan/ schedule is laid out. I have trouble figured out what to study when . Thanks!

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  3 дні тому +1

      The anki course is built into the program for now so you'll automatically get it. Yes we have a sample video that shows you a sample template you can follow. The course was made to be flexible and adapt to your life so you don't HAVE to follow the template but for those that find it useful, it's there!

    8:23 Don’t say “they won’t ask you” sadly Iv been met with too many times where Iv had material that’s “outside the scope of the mcat” asked on the mcat. Take the structure of flavin for example from the AAMC sample mcat

      @InformingFutureDoctors  3 дні тому

      Oh I agree that they'll ask hard questions ha. I was trying to say they won't ask anything as easy as the example I gave you. AKA: you should still know that A is the one letter abbreviation for alanine but they won't ask a question that straightforward on a molecule that 95% of the testers would know. Sorry if it wasn't more clear!

    Thanks for the information. You said testing in May allows you to apply early, how early can you start applying?
    Also I’m 33… Am I crazy to think about applying in this next cycle?

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  3 дні тому +1

      Crazy to think about waiting if you get the score and everything you need in my opinion! You can usually apply like the last day of May or first day of June or something. It changes every year.
      P.S. I have a classmate that started when he was 40 and not only is he the president of our class, he's one of my favorite classmates. Little bit of unsolicited encouragement but chase what you want out of life. In 4 years you'll be 37 either way. Might as well be 37 and a doctor :)

    the first time i took the MCAT i voided it - actually i knew i was going to void it after the first couple questions of the first section. you are right the MCAT is not gonna have a question like "which of the following is the amino acid structure for A"
