I don't know if this is still the case, since I haven't played for years, but part of what makes loot crates so bad, is that there were things you could only buy with the gems you get from recycling the stuff you get duplicates of. So the only way to get all of it was to get so many duplicates by spending so much that you got everything, so that you had enough gems to buy those things as well.
limited storage without eso plus is the biggest joke and shows the level of greed, when it comes to a simple 1 = yes or 0 = no, the only reason i get eso plus is for the storage due to the game being unplayable without it
@@I_am_Mr_Negative Not a joke at all. You pay for what you get and the storage bag is a perk for those who pay for it. I have played it since the beta and we didnt have the bag back then. I played just fine without the bag.
The game is horrible. I made a mistake of buying 1 year subscription (on a FOMO sale) and ended up quitting after a month. The dialogue is braindead and monotonous. The difficulty is such a joke that my 68 year old mom who is not a gamer and dies in every fight in all other games, beats ALL overworld content in ESO. It is literally toddler difficulty. There is no excitement ANYWHERE in the entire game. And for me, a serious gamer, there is no feeling of reward or progression whatsoever. Nothing feels earned whatsoever. This game is just a world full of toxic casuals who praise the garbage stories and think the difficulty should never be raised. And yes, everything is behind DLC paywalls and loot boxes. And storage restriction is designed to force you into the subscripton. Such a badly designed MMO. I regret even trying it. The intro might seem nice and novel for a moment, until you realize the game is just bland and all the same everywhere you go.
You're harsh, but not entirely wrong. The biggest problem is the difficulty in overland. Everything is boring and repetitive, and there is no point in rolling any alts because the only differences are cosmetic.
I got this game for me and my gf to play together. Were not in it for the pvp. Only here for the crafting and storyline. I hear good things about the story. So were gonna experience it and explore it ourselves.
@@Nyxson I dont think ESO is anyone's true main MMO. I love ESO but even I take breaks on and off, the stories are up there and the worlds are immersive but endgame lacks quite a bit, not in regards to difficulty but more so the reward, there is no progression there once youve completed the new Trial at the hardest difficulty and got the mount that's it till the next Chapter or DLC Pack.. they should do stuff like an evolving world where every week/month something new unlocks to do/achieve so that you don't get bored at endgame with the newest chapter two weeks after launch. (aside from endgame being flawed, its a blast! and I generally checkout each DLC for atleast 30/40 hours amd Chapters usually around 100 hours)
i play it as a solo mmo, i like the questing and crafting. I've never been into any mmo's pvp, but eso definitely has the best solo pve experience for me
GOOD. don't listen to him. It's a great game! The 100% full voiced quests is awesome! Unlike Final Fantasy XIV which is mostly reading. The world in ESO feels alive.
There are some things that should be added here. The game is utterly unstable. There are garbage load times that take forever. The thing about modern open world games is that they have asynchronous loading to hide loading screens, which this game doesn't do. The lag is bad, and makes specific sections of the game virtually unplayable. It takes a while to render objects, and although you cannot interact with NPCs and chests while they aren't rendered (which becomes problematic when you're farming Dolmen chests with other people), and that you can probably hit enemies with aoe spells while they aren't rendered, they can hit you without any problems. Sometimes, the game just decides to load in the middle of the game.
@@alucarderipmavtube You must be on some old PC I've never had any of these issue on my PC nor my PS5. My PS5 has experienced minor fps drops in some instances , but the game is running in 4k I believe.
@42studios98 I replaced my laptop with a new desktop with an nvidia rtx 4060, when my MSI laptop's GTX 1080 broke. So yeah, it's pretty much hardware, but most people probably don't have enough money to buy gaming setups. 1080 was pretty good 7 years ago. I was even able to play MHW with it, and that didn't have as much problems as ESO.
Imo the worst parts of eso is the lack of reward, pvp, easy overland and the store having all the cool mounts. I like the trial mounts but most players wont ever get them. I still love and enjoy eso but i understand why people dislike it
Yeah disconnected quest lines are a pain in the butt. I am a solo RPG player who likes questing and when a quest flow goes off on a tangent from what you have been following it makes me log out.
You made some valid points. Cant say i agree with everything, but i understand. Part of the problem, to me anyway, is they constantly change core mechanics in the game. Change, not improve. Almost just for the sake of change. It's weird and counterproductive. Anyway. Great video.
Yea and people in the forums defend it. Even when you mention sensible changes like a veteran difficultly for overland were you might get extra xp and maybe a title they still think it should not be in it.
I started the game this week I was roaming around the map until I reached a restricted area and a guy attacked me on sight, I killed him and all the camp - for some reason it set a bounty on me, even tho there were no witnesses left. now im stuck as the guards are immortal and my quest is in the city. I cant even surrender and get arrested, they just kill me over and over again how can you say this is easy if the guards are literally immortal?
@@Nyxson Its not like I attacked them tho, how was I supposed to know that there would be a restricted area in the middle of nowhere and that the "innocent civilians" there would attack me on sight without any warning. this game feels like hell
As veteran who plays eso for 7 years i must say all this is true, except i have my guild as bank where i save all materials but i guess veterans find way to buy dlc with gold but everything u mention is true, u even forgot to mention pvp lag , but Best life quality mmo is guild wars 2 where i log in from time to time.
The game turned me off from the start. You can be surrounded by 3 enemies and can go brew yourself some coffee and come back and you wont be dead. Whats the point of discovering loot when you can already beat most of the enemies?
Imagine if you have max legendary gear with the best infusions, can't imagine how easy that games get if you done that. You can pull everything on the map at once at wipe all in one aoe.
Yea, I completely agree with fragmented questlines. It's the biggest hurdle for me, but I've just accepted that I have to look up guides to do everything in the right order :/
I got suspended a day ago for warning players in chat about a toxic player who is toxic, some newb said "I'm new to the game and don't want drama, blockin and reporting" and now im suspended by a new player for a few days i think. The ESO community is way to sensitive, it's like the players of Secondlife moved there
As someone with 6k hours, many endgame achievements and endgame pvp'er, youre absolutely right. I wouldn't say ESO is a bad game but it feels severely lacking and the past years felt like a spit in endgame players' faces. Hopefully the arcanist is a cool class, will play it after my exams but yeah, as a casual experience it's a great elder scrolls game but for veterans it's just lacking. One trial, 2 dungeons per year isn't alot, combined with the fact that pvp hasn't gotten anything new in 4 years makes the game feel very old after returning after a break very fast
It's definitely a good game but has so many things preventing it from being a GREAT game. So many things that are behind a greedy mindset unfortunately by ZOS. If they stopped shooting themselves in the foot and listened to the playerbase the game could be incredible
ESO Veteran here. Everything in this video is valid, but the most important is the first. Overland is too easy. This is the crux of the entire game. Unless you're in an instanced trial or dungeon, there is no thrill. EVER. Nothing in this game will kill the player. You can beat the entire overland by just clicking light attack. It's terribly sad. I would be so much more inclined to grind for gold (which you can trade for crowns and buy premium items) if the world felt challenging and immersive. But the toxic casuals will never let this happen because "tHiS IsNt DaRk SoUlS".
I'm a causal player I play eso for the pve content and the amazing quest lines , but man the difficulty of the game is killing it , when I first start playing I didn't know anything about the game and leveled all my stats at once magka health and stamina I was leveling them equally, and still kill most enemies with one combo.
As a casual player in ESO, i really love that most of the content is soloable, since i don't do any hardcore stuffs like Vet dungeons or trial, and all i do is just do quests and enjoy the story of each quest and side quests, and the most hardcore thing i do is Cyrodiil. Which is fun if you are bored with PvE. Playing PVP in a large scale is very nice feeling. So i think ESO at it's current state are just good for us, casual players.
Eso it s a great game for me. I play it to relax me . I am not logging in to go to work lol. Also my real life work it s not for me because it has no "end work" and it s boring lol
I cant speak for the pvp content because ive never been into any mmo's pvp, but eso has the absolute best solo pve/questing experience out of any mmo ive played. There are many quests i find more interesting than skyrim quests, and they're all fully voice acted, theres no "kill 10 enemies" quests, and theres quests everywhere you look. walk into a bar and find a sketchy stranger who tells you he needs help, next thing you know your burning up an underground drug farm or stopping an attempted coup.
I remember grinding Maelstrom Arena in this game for sharp weapons back in the day, got all my weapons then they nerfed everything and changed traits completely. So much time lost, trials are stupid but I did enjoy the dungeons, on xbox one our group was one of the first to kill Molag Kena when that Imperial city dlc just came out and we grinded so hard for her mask with right trait - when helm drop wasn't guranteed and helm dropped like once every 5 trials with shit trait too, same thing with 2 sharpened swords from that Maw trial when it just came out for bis gear for templar, Jesus Christ you could only get it from chests/final boss and it was pain in the ass it took months, when we finally got 2 swords for our templar - meta changed few weeks later cause staves got boosted. Fuck this game and its constant changes, its a waste of time.
I started playing cuz of the high isle cinematic lol few weeks ago. I got the necrom pack thinkinId get that new story and everything before. So i start playin high isle but find out cant even finish the story unless I buy the firesong dlc. Then I realize its just prologue quests I have and If i want to delve into each zone story fully I'll I have to buy each dlc to continue those prologues. Lol Just wow. Guess I should have done my research but it seems so sneaky to me, a new player to just find out you can't finish any story I start unless I buy dlcs.
Search for an ESO chronological order guide, they’ve helped me immensely. I can’t link it but the one on the official forums back in 2020 (should come up at the top) is a great guide! It is worth it imho to play the game chronologically. Or at the very least get the main vanilla story quest for your faction under your belt before proceeding onwards to the newer content. The guide is called A CLEAR STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO PLAYING ESO IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER I hope this helps you better enjoy ESO! 😃
About time this kind of videos came about my favorite MMO. Thousands of hours, btw. At some point it started to feel more predatory than a mobile game. He forgot to mention the purchasable banker (storage) and merchant NPCs, $100 for both and makes the incessant, manufactured grind a lot easier.
Yeah, that is possibly my biggest gripe for the game (besides technical performance issues, which I've hardly had in WoW/FFXIV). I don't like the idea that the game tries to pass itself off as "F2P" (you still need to buy the expansions and extra mission packs, homes, etc), but at the same time it cripples you severely in terms of bag and bank space, two crucial aspects of an MMO is storing your gear/crafting components, and ESO handles those horribly compared to the other two large MMO's. I do wish ESo followed GW2's route, in that you buy the game and it's yours to play, no extra sub needed to gain access to core features (like bag/bank space).
MMOs are grinds if there wasn’t then you would not have anything to do you can buy crowns with In game gold and it’s easy to make gold you just have to spend time and grind like any other game and flip items and makes bills in the trading system bought every expansion free to play with the gold I made up to necrom when I took a break and you could easily make gold
Grind and constant nerfs are killing this game for me. It hits really hard when you are a vacation player. Like I'm even okay with how easy most of the content is or subscription, although monetization in eso is terrible, but everytime i try to return to eso it is always the same "ooops, all your gear has been nerfed into oblivion, go grind for hundreds of hours or just complete a new trial, which you wouldn't because there is still no trial founder in the 9 years old game!"
The lack of difficulty of the overworld + the lackluster, spammy combat ruined the game for me. It's a pity because everything else is pretty good, especially the quests
Once you do dungeons on hard mode, and also veteran trials (raids) they become extremely challenging, even with end game players in the best gear. Many challenging dungeons and raids have skins rewarded upon completion and many people form progression groups where they practice burning strategies and attempt to complete entire raids in a short period of time, on hardmode, and without a group member death (trifecta) where you can earn prestigious titles for your efforts! You also get a lot of gold jewelry from doing raids and the materials from gold jewelry is VERY pricey!
If eso was harder or having zones that where harder would make the whole area more interesting , it would also be cool if there where story cutscenes I finished the entire story of height isle without knowing what even happened
👍 I agree with everything else in the video, however: I've played without Craft Bag since 2016 and it's been fine for me as a crafter ^^ but you have to be thoughtful with where you want to store your materials. Having (alt) characters store your gear and having your bank store your materials is 1 way to help simplify it. Also make sure you deconstruct any garbage gear that the game gives you, because that takes up far more space by a matter of it not stacking at all. For people who are on the fence about playing ESO: A few months ago I switched to a different but similar MMO, and I feel like I can say Guild Wars 2 does both casual and hardcore gameplay better than ESO. You can try GW2 for free, and choose when you want to buy the game. ESO you have to wait until their free-to-play event if you want to demo the game.
For me gw2 it s a good game but i cannot stand it s graphics interface fortnite look alike. Such a gimmick, also skills effects and dungeons play style it s so ....lazy let s say
As a DK tank, I hate it because it locks me in blocking. There is no alternative to blocking as a hedge against being knocked down (Immovable doesn't work) and I basically can't use any channelled skill. Even their newest tanking mythic for non-blocking tanks is unusable for the same reason. And the situation is like this for a very very long time.
You’re not in a constant state of grind in this game and you don’t even need DLC to have the best gear or setup. I’ve seen this argument so many times and I’ve made so many different builds with F2P sets and they’re more than viable in endgame content and PvP. Still one of the best action combat MMOs out there and have yet to see very many if any top it.
i dont mind the paywall so much but the overworld is an accual joke. istarted a new character that i was just gonna use the gear i start with for the whole game and i was still in no danger of dying ever. overworld enemies attack so slowly the health regen from my food was keeping me alive while standing still. I dont want to play darksould but im not trying to fight puppets while i quest at least make them do something more than onve every 5 seconds so i can role play and pretend its dangerous and roll dodge and block and shit.
I loved cyrodill but I quit because I could never figure out why I could only do 100- 300 damage while almost everyone else was doing 1000 to 6000 damage a bit. Irks me even now that I think of it again.
I agree… the gambling crown crates (loot crates / loot boxes) are the worst part of the game and I think will lead to the eventual downfall of the game as players realize they can’t get most of the cool stuff unless they gamble for it.
I’m not sure you can call having to pay a sub “pay to win” lol. We pay subs for WoW, FFXIV, etc. Why wouldn’t you pay for ESO plus if you’re a regular player. I do agree that the loot crates suck though. Why can’t we just buy mounts outright?
My problem was the gear. I left eso for wow and I can practically wear the same gear for pvp, dps, and healing. Which is what I also did in Eso. Thing is with Eso I had to have 3 different gear sets to be able to do my preffered role, which took up so much space. Not to mention I had to have a fourth spec on my armory station for crafting because so many skills are needed. This is also locked behind a pay wall. With wow I can conveniently craft, pvp, change roles for pve on the spot and keep the same gear and save mass amounts of bag space. It's so trash.
If you use same gear in wow that means you do not take the game seriously Most of the times stats between specs is different. Plus the fact that pvp gear has a higher ilvl in arenas
I havnt played the game since greymoor ... can you no long buy and trade stuff in guilds ? When u used to play I'd do really hard Dungeon dives or whatever the big group ones were called ... or better yet did events that only came out once and earned all the items to sell them to players for crowns , gold and etc . I bought eso plus doing something like that ... can you no longer do that ? I only ask because I just came back to the game to play black wood I payed for and never played ... I bought all the bells and whistles and never touched it because of family issues . But the game still looks as cool as I remember it 😊
Not even free when you look at it, i know the base game is super cheap on sale, but you still have to pay for it nonetheless, then you start the game, play for 30 minutes and it's already demanding more money lol. It's even worse for people that buy the normal or deluxe collection, you pay all that money thinking you are getting the whole package, only to start the game and see there's another 21 DLC's you need to buy, and if you don't want to have inventory problems you also need to pay the sub.
you know you can buy players every market item with gold dont you? they even add endevours so you can buy the crate item you want. Every character have 200 inv space, you can do writs and get coffer and chest with 30/60 inv space, i even dont upgrade my bank more than 200 inv space becouse i dont need, now you dont need to keep the sets on inventory becouse you can craft the ones you got, so despite you like to keep garbage you dont really need to pay eso plus. i have 30 mounts and olny 2 or 3 are from dlcs. have 12 dlc and only used money with morrwind, summerset, elsweyr and greymoor. Have 1 classic and 1 notable houses for free. Havind in mind that i mostly do battlegrounds and dont mind make gold to purchase game market items + all the motifs i bought (even the ones i could get becouse i had the dlc but was to lazy to farm them xD) i could have all the dlc, half the houses and collectibles, !there are even guilds that focus on buy/selling!
Yes, you need to subscribe for the crafting bag. The issue I have with crafting is that you have to Research Traits to make the set gear and researching can take up to a month real time to finish. I don’t mean a month played. I mean you click to Research trait 5 or 6 and the timer is for 30 days. This is behind stupid to me.
I'm not even 50 yet and soloing most of the open world bosses already. 6 skills per bar is lame and limited, and weaving light attacks and animation cancelling is beyond stupid. This is probably going to be the main thing that makes me quit sooner rather than later.
I think it's an amazing game! Beautiful scenery, cool lore, and so chill to level up my crafting skills and fishing and questing or dungeons or whatever. I love it, and i played WOW for 13-15 years. I think i like better than WOW
My top six issues are having to play with other people for group content even though I can create 18 characters. There should be some way to solo it all, especially since before dungeon finder, you were waiting on others, and the same thing for trials as well. Trials are worse. Easily starts to feel like a job instead of a game. The second one is the overworld is just too easy. Only hard when starting out. Number 3: They are constantly changing class abilities and skills, buffing and nerfing classes, rendering builds unusable on a constant basis. And by the time you can save up enough to build a new one, they've made changes again. This, paired with the fact that the game has so many sets it, but very few are used because "chasing the meta" is almost mandatory just to participate in end game content makes it boring and not worth playing, as all group content is entirely skipped over. I couldn't tell you a single storyline from any dungeon or trial because you're required to keep up. If you don't, you can get kicked. And most mobs are skipped, making it even more boring. Having to play with other people in group content can seriously ruin the gameplay and storytelling. Especially if you don't have a group to run with. Number 4: the rewards are bogus compared to what's offered in the cash shop. The mmo premise is usually a great breeding ground for peer pressuring players into using the cash shop. Number 5: they refuse to make a pvp and pve version of each class to balance them separately. This is why they're constantly changing classes up. Balancing the two while keeping fair play in pvp is impossible. Number 6: they've erased the identity of all the classes. They all play very similarly now, in terms of class abilities, which, in my opinion, defeats the purpose of the class abilities entirely considering you have all those other skill trees to utilize. In fact, making those skill trees a bit better and on par with the class abilities with solve the issue completely. Overall, it's a great game if you have a friend circle to play with. If not, it gets tiring very quickly as it locks you into playing a task oriented game with no story played with randoms for end game content. Trying to avoid end game content will make the world feel lackluster, especially doing stories. It's hard taking the main villains serious and acting like you're no threat at all when you can beat them in a couple hits.
ESO is pretty much my favorite vacation MMO i always end up missing it and come back to wander in the beautiful world. However these issues are real. I dont mind the sub fee for crafting bag because they pay you back with in game currency which is neat unlike WoW * though they do have the token thing* it just blows my mind how they can take your sub fee AND lock SO MUCH COOL STUFF behind pay and gambling walls. Definitely could use a difficulty boost. Went to Guild Wars 2 and was actually surprised when I died.
The combat is why I hate this game, it makes me fall asleep just spamming the same ability, and the weapons feel like your swinging a stick and not a sword
He starts off by saying that the best zones, dungeons, etc are behind a pay wall. In ESO I can purchase the game for 10 bucks and play to max level for free with no sub. In Wow I have to sub after level 20 . So, all the best stuff in Wow is behind a pay wall too. In fact, the pay wall in WOW is far worse overall.
You can buy anything you want by joining a reputed trading guild and buying crowns with gold. I’ve spent no money in the store and have multiple apex radiants. The craft bag “solution” to storage is definitely cheese though.
@@Nyxson I have been playing since the Necro class came out. Have only played Mag Necros... Have never felt forced to change sets. I do change sets to try new gear When gear gets balanced, it is only by a very small percent. The game is so easy you never really have that need to push that 2-5% difference. I have been using Mother Sorrow and Elemental Catalyst since I hit CP160.
@@Nyxson I am not saying ESO is amazing and perfect. The game is too easy (for the most part), they lean more toward single player gamers, the card game was pretty dumb, they haven't added any NEW BG maps/Modes since what 2018. But coming and playing multiple different MMOs, every one of them have their ups and downs. Not every MMO is made for ever player
New gamer in Teso, 6h only : - The game is too easy, 0 challenge - The world is empty - I'm stuck since I can't interact with anything anymore (including doors) Bethesda Game Studio at his finest.
Main reason I quit playing was It is too easy. Once you master the mechanics you have no more challange and the game gets boring. Such a pity a game with this huge potencial being abbandoned
I tried it, didn't like it. It's not the game, I'm sure lots of people have a great time. For me, this game is another entry in a long list of MMO's I tried to see if I can like an MMO, and I never like it. MMO's are just not for me. Just prefer a story rich single player game.
Good summary. On paper, ESO has everything I want in a MMO - tons of content, cool world design, interesting quests, excellent crafting but whenever I get the urge, I remember how piss braindead easy everything is (you can literally go afk and still won't die because you regen faster than enemy dps), absolute dogshit combat, level scaled world, which makes everything so boring. I don't care about mounts or cosmetics but the game is so absolutely rotten to it's core.
@Miraak it has nothing to do with dying. Some people wanna think while playing and use everything they have to survive doge, attack, heal, block, interrupt. You don't have to do any of that besides attack in ESO overland content it is boring but maybe you like autoplay
That's my biggest issue with the game.. That I have to pay a subscription fee, if I want an Unlimited bag. And, they purposely give you low amount to pigeon hole you into that Sub, just for the crafting bag. I racked up about 1736 hours or something in Elder Scrolls Online.. By far my most hours into any game. So needless to say... I have put quite a bit of cash into the game, just based on wanting/needing that craft bag. Plus, I like to pick up materials... And, if someone in a guild or a friend needs something.. I have extra and I just hook em up for free because that's the way I am. It is one of the parts I enjoy the most is to help people. Sadly, I am addicted and I will keep forking over the money because I am pathetic. And, it's all that I have.. No this isn't self deprecation or whatever.. It's just a fact.. And, I always found it was good to be self aware.
Zos put artificial limits everywhere. For example: riding upgrade around every 24 hours, merits every 24 hours, daily quest resets 24 hours, 1 weapon each dungeon run. style-page drop timers that prevent you from getting more than one a day etc- the list is endless. It is an absolute fun-killer. eso doesn´t care about fun or good experiences in the game, it is all about making it as grindy as possible to keep people farming. Keep them playing and paying. "events" happen on a regular base and have nothing to offer other than the same repeatable quests over and over again. People do them out of fomo, not fun. Can´t remember how many times people complained about feeling burned out after events..... At the same time low-content dlcs are sold for AAA-prices, the ingame store sells houses for 100+ dollars, even changing the looks of a character once costs 15 dollars and the stacking and inventory is limited on purpose to pressure players into paying for subscription- just to get that crafting bag and additional inventory space. Meanwhile there are bugs as old as the game, not getting fixed. pvp/the combat system is broken, servers crashed, lots of the times servers are not available thanks to maintenance (no other mmo has server-down-times as long as eso), hell- often not even changing the color of the gear is working ..... This kind of mindset, treating the players/customers kinda like an enemy, working with fear and punishment instead of going for a fun experience is unique to eso. It is also why i don´t support any bethesda or zos product. To play eso to be treated like sh*t and keep paying for such a bad treatment is basicially masochism. there are too many other games out there that offer fun for reasonable prices And yeah, there is also the fact that most content is not challenging, it is a mmo with 90% solo-game, the biggest features are copied from other games- but made way worse (daoc, wow etc), dlcs offer no real new gameplay and the gameplay for classes is pretty much the same, no fixed classes also means no tactics- in dungeons, trials or pvp: people just charge at the enemy. -> compare that to daoc for example that had tons of different classes with different roles and different gameplay: tanks protect casters and use shields to stun, casters had lots of aoe dmg output, shamans had group buffs, healers, well, heal and rezz, other classes had aoe root, stuns etc, stealthy classes had the advantage of stealth and hitting first, but the most powerful attacks were depended on sides to attack (from the front, back, sides) and after leaving stealth people weren´t able to instantly go back in, so stealth characters got protection from stealth and basicially the first hit- but the attacks were complex and they were vulnerable afterwards.... so tons of different roles and different gameplay, nothing like that in eso. it is just boring and bad design
ZOS is too greedy, all the best skins are need to be paid as you said. And it's very expensive! Most skins it's either expensive or you can get on their "gacha" system which you need to burn money!
While I agree with most of this, I'd say that if Zenimax really tried and did a whole animation overhaul to make the combat feel actually good, most people wouldn't even care about most of the bad things ESO has because the main thing would be good, the combat (which currently is not). ESO has most of what could make a great MMO, but the fact that the combat is clunky, it doesn't feel engaging, the animations look horrible and generic for absolutely EVERY skill(90% of the skill have the same exact animation) and there's no weight to it, it's what makes ESO mainly bad imo. If Zenimax ever fix the combat in ESO I'd gladly make it my main MMO, until then I'll stick to Gw2 (which may just be forever at this point unless the new coming MMOs deliver, looking at you Ashes of Creation).
I was able to buy the rime wolf for 4000 crowns and I got the crowns 40% off so it wasn’t that expensive. Imo it looks better than all the radiant apex because it’s actually unique. I haven’t seen another skeleton wolf mounts and most of the radiant apex mounts seem like reskins where the devs just switched up textures and colours vs the rime wolf has a fully badass skeletonize wolf model
Worth mentioning most players now using no brain 1 bar builds, and could clear any vet content without even trying, so its feels pointless for exp players to play, especially if u re playing tank, also u didnt notice furniture cap which is 50% less if u dont have eso membership... This game could be the best, but currently it actially sucks, and getting even worst, also as veteran player i see clearly what huge amount of players leaving this game
For technical issues: Xbox Controller Support broke on the Mac Client in 2020, in fall 2023 it’s still broken. Zen is not invested in to actually updating and maintaining the game. As far as rewards go, that has been my main gripe with this game since it game out. There is absolutely nothing engaging to encourage you to slog through the content. Myself I have never cared for the “Auction House” System. It gets really old running between different guild vendors in different zones trying to find what you’re are looking for. Last comment. This game is by far the least alt friendly game I have ever played. Getting a character from 1-50 is fine, it’s nice that CP is account wide. However, needing to complete all the guild story lines over and over again is very time consuming.
I agree the points referred in this video. It's true. However, It depends on what a player pursuits. Not evryone comptetes and to get epic gears. While some people will tend to just collect, craft and do commerce, or to see the scenery, to chat with friends in the game. There are so many games which are designed for difficult challenges, simulations of craft and build, multiple pvp etc. But eso is the one which integrates all with its grand historical story. Moreover, game developers needs to make money too. And this is an online game. No one will work to update and maintain the game for you for nothing. You play then you pay in some way if you want something epic outstanding among all players. It's logical.
They don’t give a toss about pvp combat and the toxicity. Too many bugs and the communication with zenimax is horrible. The double standards are BS too.
A lot of the content is just too easy. They should implement a difficulty system. Maybe with three tiers: Normal, Hard, Elite. If you activate it, you take much more damage from enemies, but you also get better loot from them as a reward. That way everyone can increase the games difficulty as they become more experienced to suit their ability level. You would essentially just be placing a de-buff on yourself so it wouldn't affect any other players.
I love it but the devs ran me off last year. I would come back for necrom but I can't play my Xbox character on the deck. I'm not regrinding scrying, cp160, golded gear, and all the dope mounts. There's no reason we can't move characters between Xbox and PC. There's no reason they can't bump up the quest limit from 25 to 50. There's no reason they can't up the storage space in chests and at the bank. It's stupid limits that drive players away.
Okay, I think there's some confusion here as you're not comparing this game apples to apples. First off ESO is an extension of the offline game so it's going to lean a little more casual. This way most people will get a chance to enjoy the game. Next it opens the world up to multiplayer which is not possible with the offline game. Pay walls, remember you purchase the game and then it's free, if you want all the look at me stuff, then the subscription, makes perfect sense. For example I played wow a little over 16 years, that's roughly a total of over$3,000, that's what the $17 monthly subscription. Then I get all my look at me stuff and other things that go along with it. $3,000 is a big pay well not including the price of the expansions which are $60 each. I firmly believe that if ESO was a monthly subscription game buying the whole package in one expansion, you would have the same experience as you would with wow. So in all honesty I do not believe in its entirety, that your video is comparing apples to apples. If you want to compare a similar game model I would use guild wars, as this game suffer similar issues that ESO does. Thanks for the video
The problem with ESO is that they have everything, it's a b2p game (i know it's super cheap, but that still doesn't make if f2p) with a subscription, extensive cosmetic/convenience cash shop, and lootboxes, the only thing missing is a paid battle pass lol. And the problem is that the sub is not optional if you want to have a good time with the game and everyone knows that.
One major point he mentions later in the video: Grinding for the top tier meta build sets is useless, cuz by the time you get it all, the meta shifts to something new. And i might add, that unless you No Life it, like spend all your freetime playing this game , u wont come close getting completing these Top Builds , again, unless ur a complete No Lifer and also have friends that are No lifers to help you with things. The fastest way, honestly is literally BUYING an account that has all the stuff you need. But thats a whole other head ache. Lastly, this is why many of the PVP players that grinded to get there sets are so insanely toxic, the lack of social interaction and lack of sunlight turns gamers into some unsavory character youd find in the game itself. It takes over their lives and its not healthy. I can see why Zenimax tries to purposely downplay PVP and activly ignore that community. Orginally they were all about PVP, but theres literal horror stories regarding that community , stuff u wouldnt believe involving players and the company has distanced themselves from that community for years now where theyve all but just erased the pvp mode entirely.
I really do like this game but I agree with you. You grind for a set and it gets nerfed, you buy a new class and it gets nerfed. Pvp they really don’t care about it for gods sake they have had the same load screen for pvp since the game came out. Customer service doesn’t do anything other then ask you if you submitted a ticket. You’ll get kicked from server for no reason. (For example was in a dungeon then got kicked from server with error code 318) error 318 is for spamming in chat but I didn’t say or type anything. It a great game but hard to deal with sometimes.
Quest log limit smaller than 1% of the total quests, everything set up to maximize grind time, no craft bag and way more limited space if youre not paying for plus, everything takes multiples of multiples to craft, further pushing the need for the plus upgrade. New classes and races? locked behind a paywall. Housing and furniture? locked behind paywall. Majority of the game, locked behind a paywall. Fancy lighting furniture doesnt even work properly, rewards only good for the most difficult content, like you said, thats also locked behind a paywall. This game is as close to armed robbery itve ever seen in a videogame. If the community of people in the game weren't so nice and generous i would not play at all.
The reason game is easy is because for some reason many people that play it use stuff like heavy attack builds and have hard time pressing butons so I guess developers had to make the game playable for those people.
Right off the bat I disagree I can't think of a single MMO that is challenging. Maybe PvP challenging, but the core content of the game itself is never actually challenging. Quests are always easy, no matter what RPG. You just follow the directions and you eventually complete the quest. MMOs aren't supposed to be "challenging" in the way that you are implying, they are just supposed to be addicting, and massively multiplayer.
I've only watched playthroughs of ESO, and I've never found any good playthroughs of the Aldmeri Dominion, Ebonheart Pact, or Daggerfall Covenant questlines.
There's no such thing as a perfect game. I'd argue that ESO is right now by far the best mmorpg out there. I've played every western mmorpg quite extensively and that's how I formed this opinion, but of course, like with everything -- to each their own.
Why the hell would you split good and bad things into two videos? Just the other day I heard of one channel doing this exact thing and it pretty much ruined their reputation. It's idiotic.
I did it because you watch it that way. I do have a video talking about both good and bad in one video, but you didn't see that video didn't you? You saw this one, because UA-cam showed this one to you, because you are probably more attracted to negative videos. And I don't care that someone else did that, I am not them. And you can disagree with my methods but don't insult me by calling what I do idiotic
A lot of Solo player's only want to do overland. It's the largest part of the game. It's way too easy. The option to turn up difficulty for more xp or rewards should be added.
Exactly why I leaved this game. I so beautiful and rich and big world, so much potential and everything is just pointless bc of things u mention. And idk how stupid ppl work in this company, bc everyone talking about it they even dont need to research for it and they still cant fix it.
I'm so thankful i got this game from game pass. I can't imagine how disappointed i would be to pay money for this game, only for enemies to not even be able to knock me below 75% hp, and have all of the content locked behind more pay walls after i already bought the game
I tried the game years ago. Was not pleased about weird quest selections about my soul. Went healer, qued dungeons and hadca blast! Till i had the best obtainable gear- but the next best gear was in DLC.... Ah.....
1057 hrs played of eso on PlayStation 600 hrs played on Xbox and 60 hrs played on pc the last year and a half I been super bored with eso man all my guild buddies are just having a blast but every time I log on it just hits me quick the appeal for this game wore off maybe it’s cuz I’ve done roughly 86-90% of the games activities including exploration and content and I’m just burned out I always wanted to play wow for many years so imma start that later this month on pc amongst upgrading my pc so I can dive deeper into pc gaming
It’s a weak elder scrolls experience combined with an average mmo experience. I’d rather have gotten “elder scrolls with friends” than this. And I recall all the posts from here and there around launch from people thinking that’s exactly what they were getting into, there is definitely a market for that.
I've played for 5 minutes and i hate it. Sad cuz I am a long time fan of Elder Scrolls. Played morrowind when I was 8, and wanted more ever since. For me, the straw that breaks the camels back is the stupidly, overly complicated keybindings. They made this game an absolute pain in the ass just to play it and interact with things.
Pve is very easy and is not rewarding, especially for end game players. The pvp is for guilds only, trying to pvp without a massive group will not work, the guilds of grown men love chasing down solo players. It is a pay to win game as well most definitely, in pvp, the most powerful abilities/players have the latest dlc and pay to win skills.
The amazing voice acting from voice actors like Tera Strong (Harley Quinn), Steve Blum (Spike Cowboy bebop) and Troy Baker (The one and only) combined with good story in every zone I played? This game is amazing and it get's harder doing veteran content and with a boss hardmore while trying to do a deathless run for the trifecta. I have also made over 50+ dollars in game currency in a month just by grinding and not even for that long to buy crown store cosmetics.
I have like 1k hours on ESO but haven't played since 2022.Overland content is so easy that you can light attack whole continent, i just wish ESO would be more vertical progression like wow. Also the crafting in ESO is useless.
This review is way to strict. Not everyone cares about meta endgame veteran content gear and builds. Not everyone cares about radiant apex mounts and not everyone cares about collecting every single crafting material. The base game with all chapters can be bought for less then 50 bucks and thats a very fair price for a B2P MMO. It gives you access to the majority of the important features of the past years (including 3 additional classes) and enough content to entertain you for a couple of hundred hours (including farming some cosmetics that are actually pretty nice and earnable from the chapters). The zones are beautifully designed and some quests are very well made. Even housing can be enjoyed without spending a single additional penny. Its certainly worth playing, it’s debatable if it’s worth spending more then the initial purchase. Because I agree to some points in this video and I assume most of the player base agrees to some points mentioned.
After i bought the last expansion I was just bored and tired of the gameplay and mechanics I had to smoke a joint just to enjoy the game but I stopped playing a while ago now.
I don't know if this is still the case, since I haven't played for years, but part of what makes loot crates so bad, is that there were things you could only buy with the gems you get from recycling the stuff you get duplicates of. So the only way to get all of it was to get so many duplicates by spending so much that you got everything, so that you had enough gems to buy those things as well.
thats still a thing :)
limited storage without eso plus is the biggest joke and shows the level of greed, when it comes to a simple 1 = yes or 0 = no, the only reason i get eso plus is for the storage due to the game being unplayable without it
@@I_am_Mr_Negative Not a joke at all.
For those reasons, you are going to love it... for some time
@Nyxson Thanks! I hope so
@@Nyxson I dont think ESO is anyone's true main MMO.
You named all the reasons I quit playing it alongside the ridiculous grind lol.
@@Chris_Staley86 I don't necessarily think it's boring perse but I do think that it doesn't value the players time.
@@Chris_Staley86 it has one of most fun pvp ive ever played too bad pvp is dead and no one plays it. Now the pve is horrible tho
This game is so brain dead easy best way to increase difficulty is to play blind folded
Once players learn not to stand in red circles, you will never die. Even new player's.
You never did some hm content, so maybe you are brain dead
biggest issue is how easy the overworld is
same
Yea and people in the forums defend it. Even when you mention sensible changes like a veteran difficultly for overland were you might get extra xp and maybe a title they still think it should not be in it.
I started the game this week
I was roaming around the map until I reached a restricted area and a guy attacked me on sight, I killed him and all the camp - for some reason it set a bounty on me, even tho there were no witnesses left.
now im stuck as the guards are immortal and my quest is in the city. I cant even surrender and get arrested, they just kill me over and over again
how can you say this is easy if the guards are literally immortal?
Because you should not be killing the guards!!!
You can always spend 400$ on Lootcrates if you look for excitement 😂😂😂😂
Imagine if you have max legendary gear with the best infusions, can't imagine how easy that games get if you done that. You can pull everything on the map at once at wipe all in one aoe.
This is....the worst take...ive ever fuxking heard ever
Yea, I completely agree with fragmented questlines. It's the biggest hurdle for me, but I've just accepted that I have to look up guides to do everything in the right order :/
ESO is a good game but can be SO much better, but the lack of rewards and it being too easy plus all you mentioned drove me off the game.
Also the combat and graphics need a major upgrade.
I got this game for $10 and it was so awful I went for a refund.
@@purefoldnz3070 how was it awful?
@@adanos4 clunky, ugly, boring and dated.
But the toxic casuals will never let this happen because "tHiS IsNt DaRk SoUlS".
esos casual trash playerbase is killing it
I'm a causal player I play eso for the pve content and the amazing quest lines , but man the difficulty of the game is killing it , when I first start playing I didn't know anything about the game and leveled all my stats at once magka health and stamina I was leveling them equally, and still kill most enemies with one combo.
I agree, but i stil think that the dragon worldbosses in elsweyr are pretty hard. Mobs you go through as butter
Also my real life work it s not for me because it has no "end work" and it s boring lol
absolutely agree.
I'm casual also but ESO casual is actually really boring because you can light attack whole continent and brew coffee.
You just repeat what he said...
Have you ever played Morrowind?
Yeah the problem is not the quests , the problem with pve that is it too easy to the point the quests have no weight anymore.
The guide is called A CLEAR STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO PLAYING ESO IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
I hope this helps you better enjoy ESO!
This was it for me too. It's just ridiculous.
I manage to do hardmode dungeons by myself i dont think they are hard enough some but not most of them
Level scaling was a bad choice in the scheme of the game. Levels used to be hard as heck! You couldn't go to Craglorn for the longest time.
If eso was harder or having zones that where harder would make the whole area more interesting , it would also be cool if there where story cutscenes I finished the entire story of height isle without knowing what even happened
🍺
👍 I agree with everything else in the video, however:
I've played without Craft Bag since 2016 and it's been fine for me as a crafter ^^ but you have to be thoughtful with where you want to store your materials.
Having (alt) characters store your gear and having your bank store your materials is 1 way to help simplify it.
Also make sure you deconstruct any garbage gear that the game gives you, because that takes up far more space by a matter of it not stacking at all.
For people who are on the fence about playing ESO:
A few months ago I switched to a different but similar MMO, and I feel like I can say Guild Wars 2 does both casual and hardcore gameplay better than ESO.
You can try GW2 for free, and choose when you want to buy the game.
ESO you have to wait until their free-to-play event if you want to demo the game.
GW2 expansions are on sale atm.
For me gw2 it s a good game but i cannot stand it s graphics interface fortnite look alike. Such a gimmick, also skills effects and dungeons play style it s so ....lazy let s say
@ionrazvan126 did you really just called Guild Wars 2 graphics "Fortnite Look Alike"?!
@@Nyxson yea all a gimmick
As an Elder Scrolls fan I really don't get ESO's appeal. It's not immersive at all in my point of view.
The dance of buffs and nerfs made me stop the game. Grinding for nothing isn't worth the time investment 😅
The only bad thing is indeed the game is too easy as solo player
Love the pure honesty! Exactly why I quit this game. They completely abandoned the pvp which is why I liked playing this game. Great video! Subscribed
Cringe fairy tale music is appaling to me, that's why I dropped TESO. Unlike the main series, TESO felt like a cringe generic fantasy
No one's saying that sub itself is pay to win. But in case of ESO, addition of Crafting Bag to Sub only is kinda like a pay to win element
If you use same gear in wow that means you do not take the game seriously
Most of the times stats between specs is different.
But the game still looks as cool as I remember it 😊
The crafting bag being locked behind plus is insane. Makes it dreadful to play the game for free.
The game isn't perfect but it does have a awesome community
Untill you get to to true end game hm m trifectas its gate keeped hard
you know you can buy players every market item with gold dont you? they even add endevours so you can buy the crate item you want.
Super glad I checked this video out! Lot of these bad points are deal breakers for me and you've saved me lots of time, sir. Thanks.
which are?
There is no such thing as a perfect game, the question is does the good out weight the bad.
I think i like better than WOW
i want a mmo world which just murders you at the start and then you progress . a bit like the survival games
What killed it for me was getting hit for 45k in cyro
8:11 just curious (100% NOT being a dick).
How many hours do you have in ESO? How many patches/chapters have you played?
Around 700hours. I have played since beta, didn't play it on launch but played every expansion and dlc since Tamriel Unlimited update.
@@Nyxson I have been playing since the Necro class came out. Have only played Mag Necros... Have never felt forced to change sets. I do change sets to try new gear
When gear gets balanced, it is only by a very small percent.
Also true
New gamer in Teso, 6h only :
- The game is too easy, 0 challenge
- The world is empty
- I'm stuck since I can't interact with anything anymore (including doors)
Bethesda Game Studio at his finest.
Main reason I quit playing was It is too easy. Once you master the mechanics you have no more challange and the game gets boring. Such a pity a game with this huge potencial being abbandoned
My man Super Mario, you hit the nail on the head. So many glaring issues.. we’ll done
It's A me...
Whaa-haaa! Whoooooaaa! 😵💫
If the game is easy stop crying an get good
Crafting bag isn't even pay to win, it's pay for convenience. It makes your life easier by having it, that's convenience, not winning.
To play eso to be treated like sh*t and keep paying for such a bad treatment is basicially masochism. there are too many other games out there that offer fun for reasonable prices
And yeah, there is also the fact that most content is not challenging, it is a mmo with 90% solo-game, the biggest features are copied from other games- but made way worse (daoc, wow etc), dlcs offer no real new gameplay and the gameplay for classes is pretty much the same, no fixed classes also means no tactics- in dungeons, trials or pvp: people just charge at the enemy.
Gw2 doesnt suffer at all
The problem with ESO is that they have everything, it's a b2p game (i know it's super cheap, but that still doesn't make if f2p) with a subscription, extensive cosmetic/convenience cash shop, and lootboxes, the only thing missing is a paid battle pass lol.
Right off the bat I disagree
I can't think of a single MMO that is challenging.
DO NOT buy the new necrom exp. it has serious bugs and visualy is ugly. it looks like it was made over a weekened. save your money
I've only watched playthroughs of ESO, and I've never found any good playthroughs of the Aldmeri Dominion, Ebonheart Pact, or Daggerfall Covenant questlines.
I don't think they would be fun to watch. Plus those quest lines are the oldest ones, from 2014
@@Nyxson They still count as Elder Scrolls lore.
"This game is too easy" -only plays overland.
A lot of Solo player's only want to do overland. It's the largest part of the game. It's way too easy. The option to turn up difficulty for more xp or rewards should be added.
Which is 90% of the game
Exactly why I leaved this game. I so beautiful and rich and big world, so much potential and everything is just pointless bc of things u mention. And idk how stupid ppl work in this company, bc everyone talking about it they even dont need to research for it and they still cant fix it.
It’s all about the costumes and skins & fashion. Everything else is secondary.
If you do all of your daily and weekly endeavours it takes exactly 28.5 weeks to earn one radiant apex
Game isn't easy. Try to collect witch knight's defiance set. You can't do it alone. You may not be able to do it even with 4 other player
What do you mean by "50+ dollars in game currency"?
@@Nyxson
You can exchange gold for crowns
You can't. At least not officially. You can only do it if other player will directly sell you his crowns for gold, or through discord exchanges
Yeah. I buy from my friends and was able to buy 2 20 dollar dlc zones in a few days
That's not bad at all
I have like 1k hours on ESO but haven't played since 2022.Overland content is so easy that you can light attack whole continent, i just wish ESO would be more vertical progression like wow. Also the crafting in ESO is useless.
Vatershan hollows, maelstrom arena? Farming those perfected weapons is definately not easy and thats a solo trial
Can we not protest to the devs?
