  • Ashley’s talk Running Saved My Life and It Might Save Yours Too is about how this extracurricular activity has saved her life on numerous occasions starting as just a young girl. Having an exorbitant amount of energy Ashley found that she was having difficulty in the classroom. As a tween she suffered from her own body appearance and anxiety. She discovered that running helped her through her mood swings and circumstances. As a young adult, she continued to have large amounts of energy and anxiety that put that into training for big goals like ironman and marathons to continue her journey in mental health. Her running soon helped created a program called Sole Girls based on her own experience to empower girls through physical activity and as a result, she has trained over 200 girls in the programs.
Growing up in a family of runners, Ashley Wiles fell in love with the running community at the age of 5 and has spent much of her 20s running around the world. As a life coach she realized that many people connect physical activity with weight loss taking the fun out of the activity, and often leading to decreased self-worth. After seeing Amanda Todd’s video in 2012, she created Sole Girls, a community for girls connecting tweens with physical activity and mentorship. Now, as an ironman, and a mental health advocate, she inspires people of all ages to take the first step in fun physical activity.

Going to the gym saved my life. I got over depression, anxiety, panic attacks and extreme agoraphobia that had me locked in my house for 2 years. i was lucky to get out of this..

As a runner myself (I love being able to say that about myself) I understand that feeling. Running isn't even about running for me. It's about time with my mind and my body, time in the forest and especially time without my mind. I do believe everyone should have this balance, it doesn't have to be running. It could be swimming, hiking, playing sports, biking. It just needs to get your heart pumping and your brain napping.

Does anyone actually go to listen to these, or are her jokes really that bad? Nobody laughs once in this. They used to get a fair bit of audience interaction back in the day, but in this video I just heard maybe two people talking and her voice shaking because she's nervous because nobody seems to care about what she's saying.

TheRebel3000 I dont think she was trying to be a stand up comedian, she was trying to tell stories and she was able to do this without being interrupted, people are not supposed to interact in this videos, at least I never seen one full of interaction presentation. And the voice shaking I thought it was weird only until I fund out she had anxiety...so it makes sense, I do get more anxious when people are paying attention to me, I hate to do presentations because I just want peope to listen but not look at me, I get really red, maybe it was the same with her.

i cannot tell if she has a concrete message to convey or not.. she comes across as rambling, scatter brained and unorganized. She flip flops around all over the place...
