- Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 -- January 19, 1998) was an American rockabilly musician who recorded most notably at Sun Records Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, beginning during 1954. His best known song is "Blue Suede Shoes". According to Charlie Daniels, "Carl Perkins' songs personified the rockabilly era, and Carl Perkins' sound personifies the rockabilly sound more so than anybody involved in it, because he never changed." Perkins' songs were recorded by artists (and friends) as influential as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Cash, which further cemented his place in the history of popular music. Paul McCartney even claimed that "If there were no Carl Perkins, there would be no Beatles".
The Beatles never forgot the artists who inspired them.
Yes!!...for sure
The Perkins-songs The Beatles covered was before Billy's time in the band.
Looks like they had an absolute, blast, jamming together, love the program
My mother was in love with Carl Perkins. I'm talking MAJOR crush. Every time he was on TV, she would make sure to get our undivided attention so that she could let us know, in no uncertain terms and with the utmost conviction, that Carl Perkins, and I quote, was "an EXTRAORDINARILY handsome man". We still crack up about it to this day.
I can relate to your mom lol
PURE ROCKABILLY KING'S WILL NEVER DIES OFF...OPEN.24 JAM.
In one of the greatest comments I've ever seen on youtube, there was a vid of Perkins with Paul...and one comment asked, "if Paul was such a great friend of his, why didn't he go his funeral?" I don't know if Paul in fact did not attend...but... The response, was, "...because Paul McCartney enjoyed visiting his friends while they were alive."
George was the only Beatle to attend Carl 's funeral; he sang Your True Love, & later told Carl's son Stan that he hadn't been sure anything would come out of his mouth, but he had to try; George had been undergoing radiation for cancer at that time.
Filmed backstage at the Mid South Coliseum here in Memphis on April 27, 1993 before McCartney's show that night. Perkins was sitting in the audience a couple of rows ahead of us
What a warm hearted scene this is. Theres obviously alot of respect flowing back and forth, and Mr. Perkins seems like such a great guy. This vid is great, thanks .
His style sounds like the Beatles?? unbelievable.. he was their influence.. you can hear his rhythm and beats in their song's..if it wasn't for Carl Perkins there would be no Beatles🇮🇪🇮🇪

I love how these guys just totally jump into songs with 0 prep. “Oh yeah you remember that one old song? you mean this one? (both play the entire thing)

God bless them. My love to you, Carl, wherever you are.
Awesome !
Gold.
Só musicão
Wish they had done "Sure To Fall"
BRÁVÓ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should of done an album
Carl was old enough to be Paul's dad.
Carl was only 10 years old when Paul was born.
The Matching Wigs. Can’t get enough of these two.
No wig for Paul. Carl wore one for decades.
None of the Beatles lost their hair. That's almost as statistically impossible as getting four guys together with such an array of musical talent but it happened! Thank God it did!
This is silly why aren’t they speaking the words? Wasn’t hip hop around then? Singing songs is so silly!
lol
hope ur sarcastic
LOL!
