Didn't have a bench vice, so I just used the freewheel removal tool, a crescent wrench, and hit the wrench several times really hard (counterclockwise) with a BFH. Did the job.
Skyway now released their 24" mag wheels, takes only a bmx version of the 1/8, 1/8" mountainbike wont fit. I'm just building bikes with bmx chains and gears now. Does anyone know if the single speed threaded rear single cassette will fit into the mountainbike hub or if an adapter exists for that? These wheels are great, a little heavy but I don't mind.
Hey man - thanks for the tip - - - i got one issue though - when i pedal it slips....then it pedals again....and slips - any idea what that could be? i remove the back wheel and it seems its at the cog , when i spin it , it spins both ways..... what could be the problem? any help would be appreciated. Thank you
i have a question i have a bmx with the same freewheel rear hub but the black front part of the hub touches/scrapes the frame when i tight it with the lock nut when i try to pedal what piece is missing? can anyone answer??
I've got a skyway tuff2 not the early alloy hub type, that the freewheel is well and truly stuck. I've had it in a vice with removal tool, it's bent a chain whip and still it won't shift. Would a vinegar bath help or would it damage the hub? Thanks.
@@steviepancakes9005 so can a basic mtb rear wheel that has a freewheel 5 speed be replaced by a 1 speed freewheel just by removing the old 5 speed freewheel and putting any 1 speed freewheel in its place?
I've tried as many ways as i could think of and hurt myself trying. I advise getting a freewheel remover if you use it often or take the wheel to a local shop and ask then to remove it. Shouldn't cost much if anything at all. You don't need the tool to put it back on.

Exactly my boy I wasn't born in Beverly hills
I have used a 1/2-in drive socket with a breaker bar.
Nice, i figured the freewheel would tighten itself, good tip at the end
Can you do a video on how to upgrade old school wheels or just replace them?
I use an eclectic impact gun. I’m even got the one off the bike shop coudnt get off
That is a great idea!! Thank you!!
I've used a half inch drive socket with a breaker bar. In the future if that doesn't work your info on using an impact driver will be of use.

Seems like the freewheel is not engaging. Either it is super dirty or it is shot. Hope that helps.
@@thebasementbikeshop2336 thanks alot, seems i have to replace it - appreciate your reply

Rear wheel doesn’t spin. Where do I put the washers on the drive side?
I have a freewheel with no notches. I bought the same tool as you, but then realised have no notches.
Please help.
Thanks.
Do all freewheels use the same tool like you used? Do all freewheels fit a Bmx hub?
nah some have 4 notches. there's others with more

I would use a penetrating lube and let it sit a couple hour. you can find it a most hardware stores or in Amazon- amzn.to/3bD9HNU

If my drivetrain is slipping and it's not the chain (which I'll find out this week ) would it be the Freewheel or the bottom bracket?
Most likely, the freewheel. Unless your sprocket is no longer connected to your crank.
@@thebasementbikeshop2336 thanks bro love your videos hope you put out some more soon
Thank you. It's been crazy busy at work but I'm working on some new videos
I put chain tensioniers on my kids bike now the axle bolt is not long enough where can I order a free wheel removal tool and a longer bolt?
Never mind I just realized by reading your comments I can take the time to a shop
will a bmx sprocket screw onto a mtb screw on hub?
Yes. Mtbs equipped with freewheel (thread on gears) will accept a single speed bmx freewheel the exact same way.

Can you put a different freewheel on with different amount of teeth
That's how rich boys do it
How to remove it without a tool ?
