I love Hawaii and the native people. I lived there in 1968-1989. The aloha spirit and the kindness of the people had stuck with me today. Aloha and mahalo 🤙
Not sure if the watercress farm is still by Anna Miller's. Ever since I transplanted to US Mainland, we either rented a condo in town or we'd stay at my mom's PC house. They had the Hawaiian hut's, smaller sized. Watercress man would come to our neighborhood and he knew which people were Watercress eaters and every week my okasan would buy a bunch. My husband drives a distance to get my mustard cabbage and all the local vegetables we eat. Bok Choy they call Napa cabbage here. Happy memories of an island where you have the malls, First Ala Moana. Until Uncle Frank Fasi created "The Bus" by the time I was in Intermediate school we'd catch the bus for 10 cents and transfer at Ala Moana and go to Magic Island or Waikiki Beach. We'd bring our lunch and drinks. We lived way to far too take the bus around the island to Waimea to swim. That came later in HS when we were driving.
