When are they going to talk about how the military and tourists robbed them of their land and caused a serious over population problem and threat to their culture.
Spanish Empires were the first global empires that brought their military and “tourist” and colonized the world worldwide. Then came the Europeans. All the Native Indians living in North America lost after the invasion of colonialism and some of their culture was impacted. If you are blaming the military and tourist for your own culture degrading and not being practice by generation. Take accountability for learning your own culture and keeping it intact instead of blaming the military and tourist.
@@lovewildviolet I don’t think the op is blaming. I think it’s more of a statement for awareness of what happened to the Hawaiian kingdom. You’re right, the Spaniards did many cultures bad. That is why the Spanish language is spoken in several countries. However not Hawaii! The Spanish did not forcefully take over Hawaii, imprison their queen on her own lands and her own palace. They did not colonize Hawaii. They didn’t make it illegal for the Hawaiian people to speak Hawaiian. They didn’t make it illegal for Hawaiian people to dance hula and chant their mele (song). They didn’t do plenty of things to the Hawaiian people that the government has done. What you don’t know is that at the end of the day Hawaiians still to this day, have to fight to keep at least their sacred burial grounds from being desecrated by the government. Guess who win the fight every time. I don’t think the op is right about the military and tourist. The only people accountable is long gone so the only thing that makes sense to do now is bring awareness and teach our children the history of the Kanaka Maoli. Our culture does live on through generations because that’s all we have left.
“So much culture is lost when we lose the language.” He manaʻo ʻiʻo kēia! E ola nā ʻōlelo maoli āpau ma kēia Honua! Aloha nō e ka ʻohana ʻo Kanoa-Wong!
This is beautiful! My husband wants to return to Hawaii so bad. He lived there when he was in the military and it became so much of the core of who he is. I hope one day we will be able to return for him and our family.
Native Hawaiians are true full blooded Polynesian race, all the other people who were born in Hawaii says they are Native Hawaiians that's not true. True Native Hawaiians are Polynesian and are indigenous of the Hawaii race and land. Period.
Many people say they are Hawaiian when they are not. But if you know who your family is and where you come from you should know if you are Hawaiian or not.
It’s too late the indigenous Hawaiians have been replaced by asians. There aren’t that many indigenous Hawaiians. You got to many races claiming to be native Hawaiians. Japanese, korean, Chinese, Filipinos, Europeans, Mexican/Hispanics, Africans, mixtures. Even though there’s more indigenous Americans they represented by other ethnicity in the entertainment industry. They have used Mexicans, white/ native indigenous. Chinese, Caucasians, other Hispanics group, black biracial. Wouldn’t be surprised if they used Filipino actors to also represent Native Americans.
was hoping to find an eunormous hawaiian fam being really goofy together. casually speaking hawaiian.. a cool uncle showing a family business or a farm.. or some chanting from a wise woman ,..outside somewhere. true hawaiian spirit you can see their soul. it's hard to find trust in people if you have to question if they're real or acting true spirit doesn't care about money to talk to the media. i suppose

Great one liners but the movie was beyond predictable especially if you’ve watched the goonies. Enjoyed it but probably will never watch it again... in my life....

Thank you for giving native Hawaiians a family film we can see our families in. We need more of this, we are not seen like this.
You mean asians not indigenous Hawaiians.
@@Sky-pt6lc I meant exactly what I said.
@@JayleneP how about doing a dna to see how much Hawaiian you have.
@Sky hope your bored and miserable ass has a great rest of your weekend
Hawaiian heritage is so beautiful! I can't wait to go there for college hopefully and study the culture, history, and landscapes of Hawaii

THANK YOU!
How about the asians and other ethnic groups replacing them. Any brown person can be Hawaiian.
