I'm a Canadian that's been living in Thailand since 2010. I've seen it all throughout the last decade from the political conflict involving the red shirt and the government & to the military takeover in 2014. This is excellent news for Thailand. I travelled throughout Thailand between 2000 and 2004. Once you got to the islands you could always buy weed very cheap. The quality wasn't mega but it was cheap, readily available and easy to get. Funny enough most times it was supplied to the dealer by the local police.
I once bought purple weed from a hilltribe fisherman coming down a mountain river on a raft from a trek in the golden triangle,,,,best weed I ever smoked!
Now the capitalist model of shameless profiteering off gimmickry and fake hype will pimp out the herb and make it crappy and expensive. Savor the memories...
It's not just about costs. There are costs that will be universal in the cultivation. Indoor is the only competitive flower for sale. The Thais have a long way to go to understand the customer base, and the culture
Thailand is a beautiful country with it's culture, cuisine, nature, islands and beaches,... the hospitality of common thai people are well known. With cannabis tourism you will find more happpiness and relaxation there. Just get rid of prostitution. Those girls do it because they are poor and wester men take advantage of it. Instead let the cannabis economy boom...
I want to move to Thailand and show them how to grow high quality indoor cannabis using methods needed to compete with places like California, Washington, and Colorado .
lol you want to teach your granny to suck eggs..... thais were growing the best in the world outdoors 40 years ago, they probably forgot more that you'll ever know child.
@@denisodonnell8831 a lot will agree with you on your point . But there are several reasons why indoor is a good idea . 1. Taste and smell. Trichome development which we use to make concentrated oils separated from the herb plant which is the medicinal part is far more superior and can be controlled much easier using an indoor system . 2. It takes only 60 days of flowering stage to complete and mature for harvest compared to several months. 3. Water usage . It takes only a 1/10 of the water compared to outdoor grows . 3. Security . Plants indoor are locked up in safe and secure setting and not outside for thieves to see . 4. When plants get sick and they do . I’m an indoor setting you able to manage the plants and treat them for sickness and get a much faster response from a plant .
As a Canadian, legalizing weed has been fantastic! But just like liquor and cigarets, can be bad in high dosing!! Just hope we are ready for another addiction! Not physically addictive, mentally!

I'm currently in Bangkok. I know I'm spoiled being from California, but Thailand just doesn't have super high quality weed yet, which is a bummer. But Thais are notorious green-thumbs, so I don't think it will be long at all before the quality picks up.
Some of it's good, but nothing like the highest grade west coast bud. Still very decent midgrade stuff. had some great local outdoor on Koh Phangnan this weekend 👌
The contemporary Thai prices - for weed with a decent kick - are absurd (500-800 baht a freakin' gram) especially when seen in the light of the cost in the 70s and 80s of so-called 'Buddha sticks' from the Northeast (some of the finest herb ever): off the street a single stick [weighing anything between 1 and a half to 3 grams] would generally cost you 20 baht (then the equivalent of US$1), and sometimes 15 (in bulk less again of course). Even taking inflation into account the prices charged in Thai 'dispensaries' are totally OTT. Most of this stuff is hydro under lights gear - requiring some serious capital investment Hopefully the situation will change for the better when the outdoor crops (presently being grown nationwide by countless individuals) are ready for harvest in late October - November. There should be a massive glut that should have the authorities scratching their heads wondering where do we go now? Meanwhile in Australia the price of good shit has remained pretty constant for something like 30 years - roughly 250 baht a gram. That should be the absolute maximum price in Thailand. And finally, one of the biggest upsides of the 'changes' underway is that the stinky rubbish compressed stuff (from Laos I believe) - around since the 90s - should have no further place in the market.
I lived abroad for 30 years and Thailand is by far the most confused/confusing country. Many questions are being answerd with: "Yes, but no...", or "Yes, but maybe not"; for example, I rode motorcycles for more than 100.000 km without wearing a helmet, but it is officially illegal. Everybody does it and knows that they can be fined at the next police check. Now the big news is that "Thailand legalized cannabis" but the truth is that getting high is still illegal. A little research shows that, according to the Tourist Authority of Thailand in June 2022: "The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) removed cannabis with extracts containing no more than 0.2 percent by weight of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) from its banned narcotics list. Extracts containing over 0.2 percent of THC are still illegal in Thailand. THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana." Meaning that industrial hemp is legal, cannabis that gets you high is not. Also: "Importantly, it must be noted that smoking of cannabis in public is forbidden. The penalty for this is a potential three-month jail sentence and 25,000 Baht fine. The new cannabis policies permit production and consumption solely for medical or health-related reasons; not recreational purposes." Painting the picture of being able to smoke weed to get high in public places is simply wrong and dangerous. Tourists may be surprised when they get arrested and fined.
@@PrimoStracciatella I looked it up and from what i understand the 0.2% thc thing only apply to edibles ,oil and all those things that you can make from canabis. But the catch is that this Thc restriction does not apply to the plant itself so you can have legit weed that will stone you. Furthermore you are free to smoke at home or in private places that allow it.
@@unepomme1375 I guess what's confusing me is the wording that "cannabis with extracts" has been removed from the list of banned drugs. "Cannabis and extracts" is clearer.

They should work on breeding and cultivating the unique Thai land race strains they already have, some phenomenal Sativas grow naturally in Thailiand. This is a great step forward, Thailand had some of the strictest heavy handed policies against Cannabis worldwide, the climate is perfect for growing Grade A cannabis, and many skilled farm hands, I predict a rapid rise in the Thai Cannabis industry worldwide going forward. 😀
Have just returned from Thailand. Dope shops everywhere and pop up tables in the street selling all types and “strengths “ . Was about $10 aud for a ready rolled joint of a gram. Could even sit in the pool at the bar and order cannabis cocktails to drink while cooling off.
@@foreverexplorer8283 Hope you have a great time. We were in phuket back in feb (Covid time) and it was quiet. Now though, we left a few days ago, it’s back to buzzing in Patong and Kamala. Since cannabis with more than 0,2% of THC is still illegal, I wonder what is openly being sold. $10 AUD for one joint of THC-free hemp is expensive cause it doesn't get you high.
The problem is that if you choose to travel to neighboring countries. You’re pretty much screwed. These countries are actively conducting drug tests at their borders.
Happy Green New Year from Koh Phangan! There are many amazing coffee shops here on the island and now you can enjoy your joint from your hammock on the beach. Its certainly working here for all businesses and tourists alike a very welcome move for the island.
Weed is way too expensive in Thailand for what it's actually worth. A gram should be around 100 baht, but its 300+ baht. A minimum wage in Thailand is around 350 baht per DAY (8hours). Labor fee is extremely low here and for some reason these foolish sellers set the price way to high especially in Bangkok.
This is one of the smartest comments I have seen and I thought exactly the same thing without having ever been to Thailand. There is so much greed associated with the over priced retail, no bulk prices system being used to exploit buyers globally.

Im a truck driver and cant touch it, even though years ago I was able to drive with no issues with it in my system, it is so often blamed for road fatalities, which I dont believe for a second.... the fact that I can be tested by my employer or the police stopped me a long time ago, which has now heightened my ptsd, the job stress, and I have high blood pressure.... I remember the days I was calm as a Hindu cow
Amazing you got the technical touch love the way you dragged the plant in the soil and mud after you cut it. Makes it ten times more stronger and super dry but yet still sticky on the inside my boy.
People who don’t agree with legalisation are probably drinking alcohol every week thinking it’s ok cause it’s legal.. And if you get upset with this comment, take a beer and cool down. Then educate yourself about what’s worse for your body: ALCOHOL OR WEED 🧐
Sawadeecar I am personally am anti drug but I do support the positive side to cannabis, I do see there are good things that come from marijuana. I personal don't consume cannabis but I take hemp seed oil capsules, a part of the plant that doesn't givee a high but is good for your body. It's great that Thai authorities can see the monetary benefit of legalising cannabis. I do not like marijuana grown in hydroponics settings as well as the nasty chemicals that are added to hydro cannabis, highly toxic and crazy THC levels, organic, naturally grown cannabis is the way to go.
They want to import for some Asian countries but the problem is other countries is still criminalizing the plant specially here in the Philippines. But some government officials here in the Philippines is proposing the medical use of marijuana hope it happens and in the near future the recreational use too. Great for Thailand for legalizing this Wonderful plant.

I was just there and bought a few joints. Good bud!! Though, I'd rather get it somewhere it's not taxed beyond belief and can be delivered straight to my home. Hmm... Wonder where that is 🤔
I am seriously worried about "unknowingly taking foods with THC ingredients" since its added into food and drinks. Its still illegal outside of Thailand. What's the consequence of having THC in the body and getting caught at the next Asian stop? Spend a few days in Jail claiming "I don't know"? Its a nasty idea to add it into street food
Big applause thailand,,,, this got all my respect, and im very grateful to see this country legalize something that should be legal at the first time. Well done thailand, i hope my country legalize marijuana too, indonesia must be legalize marijuana, soon ☕
My thoughts are that if you are taking something which isn't harming anyone, people should not put their nose into it. If I smoke weed in my house, chilling with my homies, enjoying life, and your father's money is not involved in my enjoyment, or if it's not harming you or any other people, no one has the right to stop me. People aren't forcing anyone to smoke something, they are just enjoying their life in the room. So who the hell are those people who tells us something is legal or illegal. God created this beautiful plant and someone sitting inside an air-conditioned room with bodyguards around them tells that this is illegal, that is illegal, etc. Who gave them the power?? If you don't want to take something, no one is forcing you. Just don't try to control other people's lives.

Just got back from a month in Thailand, most shops especially up in Chiang Mai have local strains. I only smoked the local lower THC outdoor grown strains and they were great and mellow. Grown locally up north. A lot cheaper than the imported strains only about 180 baht a gram (5 USD).
I'm a Canadian that's been living in Thailand since 2010. I've seen it all throughout the last decade from the political conflict involving the red shirt and the government & to the military takeover in 2014.
This is excellent news for Thailand. It's still a gray area though until the official laws come in place.
But that's a step in the right direction. And as the first girl said I think from this point on there's no going back.
Phom chop Thailand mak mak kao jai mai naaa 55
canadian too 2013... ka, kowchai krup ;-)... not so sure that a great idea, the way they might do it... nothing agaisnt weed really but i doubt that will help the population in general only the gov and some shop... and why 1000b/g, thats less than 300b in the US/can/etc... and now there a bunch weed shop with bob marley neons n stuff poping up, that might change the feel of the place in a bad way... plus everybody is already legalising and it doesnt need to be legal to have some, i dont see peoples coming here on the other side of the planetn to smoke.
what do you do for a living if i may know? I want to move to thai too but not sure how to support myself there

Fantastic. I remember reading about Thailand considering legalization of cannabis just a few years ago and thought it'd be for medical use only
Medical purposes have been growing it for at least the past 3 years, this is why it's available so quickly here in Thailand
I'm smoke weed everyday for health benefit
A Thai doctor staying in America nicknamed 'The Ganja Witch' . fought for many years to legalize marijuana. Then health minister of Thailand suggested n push to legalize it for health purpose, n here we r. We don't call Amazing Thailand for nothing...😜🥰
Thailand is smart to start the movement. The weather and land in Asia is different.
I travelled throughout Thailand between 2000 and 2004. Once you got to the islands you could always buy weed very cheap. The quality wasn't mega but it was cheap, readily available and easy to get. Funny enough most times it was supplied to the dealer by the local police.
🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
I once bought purple weed from a hilltribe fisherman coming down a mountain river on a raft from a trek in the golden triangle,,,,best weed I ever smoked!
Now the capitalist model of shameless profiteering off gimmickry and fake hype will pimp out the herb and make it crappy and expensive. Savor the memories...
Purple head. Another 80s delight
A Big Big support for you guys, it's the same dream to legalize cannabis in my country, and we grow up together
Salluuuttt 👏👏
It's not just about costs. There are costs that will be universal in the cultivation. Indoor is the only competitive flower for sale. The Thais have a long way to go to understand the customer base, and the culture
Thailand is a beautiful country with it's culture, cuisine, nature, islands and beaches,... the hospitality of common thai people are well known. With cannabis tourism you will find more happpiness and relaxation there. Just get rid of prostitution. Those girls do it because they are poor and wester men take advantage of it. Instead let the cannabis economy boom...
If you think peoples are gonna come here to smoke, you're nuts... to f** though, sure, they'll swim here.
I want to move to Thailand and show them how to grow high quality indoor cannabis using methods needed to compete with places like California, Washington, and Colorado .
You are welcome to come bro. I've seen plenty of american growers come here working as consultant for thai growers.
You have no idea how upgraded they are rn
lol you want to teach your granny to suck eggs..... thais were growing the best in the world outdoors 40 years ago, they probably forgot more that you'll ever know child.
Why would anyone want to smoke indoor weed?ootdoor weed is far superior
I been wanting to go to Thailand now that weed is legalized Im am definitely going this year🥶🥶🥶
As a Canadian, legalizing weed has been fantastic! But just like liquor and cigarets, can be bad in high dosing!! Just hope we are ready for another addiction! Not physically addictive, mentally!
Thanks for uploading. Very informative.
This has instantly changed my vacation plans.
Take care everyone.
I actually really appreciated and enjoy that you said what you said. I totally agree a curated approach will be better 100%

Bring back the Thai Sticks!
You can easily find it
Just thinking about that good old Thai Sticks, Another thing I miss from the 70'$.
Good for Thailand. Hope they make recreational use legal. Safer than alcohol.
Love you Thailand..from Canada.
A little research shows that, according to the Tourist Authority of Thailand in June 2022:
"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) removed cannabis with extracts containing no more than 0.2 percent by weight of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) from its banned narcotics list. Extracts containing over 0.2 percent of THC are still illegal in Thailand. THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana."
Meaning that industrial hemp is legal, cannabis that gets you high is not. Also:
"Importantly, it must be noted that smoking of cannabis in public is forbidden. The penalty for this is a potential three-month jail sentence and 25,000 Baht fine. The new cannabis policies permit production and consumption solely for medical or health-related reasons; not recreational purposes."
Painting the picture of being able to smoke weed to get high in public places is simply wrong and dangerous. Tourists may be surprised when they get arrested and fined.
@SUNMYCO ON INSTAGRAM Buzz off, try peddling your stuff elsewhere.
Chopsticks were invented to handle Marijuana buds. Those who had it, some also used it for eating lumps of rice, but that was optional. (In the beginning...)

There is a 100++ years old strain, "hang-ka-rok" "squirrel's tail". And what they look is to try to lookback in ancient / royal medicine recipe.
Have just returned from Thailand. Dope shops everywhere and pop up tables in the street selling all types and “strengths “ . Was about $10 aud for a ready rolled joint of a gram. Could even sit in the pool at the bar and order cannabis cocktails to drink while cooling off.
did it get you high ? or It just weed without the high effect ?
@@foreverexplorer8283 The cocktails were more of a chill than a buzz. The weed was real tho.

There is so much greed associated with the over priced retail, no bulk prices system being used to exploit buyers globally.
shouldnt be more than 50 baht max
Such a beautiful flower glad more of the world is open to it
Marijuana has some many benefits its crazy to be illegal and alocohol legal

I love how she pick up the buds with the sticks. No disgusting fatty fingerprints on the herb :) well done Thailand

I am personally am anti drug but I do support the positive side to cannabis, I do see there are good things that come from marijuana.
They need to do more research on this for medicines (specifically effective Tinctures) with the weed.

Ingest it, drink it, but DON'T smoke it.
Smoking anything destroys the lungs.
I smoked these not as potent the ones I got they were fluffy airy not as dense as a hard nugg.
Well done Thailand!!!

Over 30$ a gram is damn expensive, how could the Thai people afford that? Or is it just for the tourist?
