Yes but you might want to re-check your records on amount of water to produce a shirt made of cotton? I think that value maybe has an extra zero added when it shouldn't? That's excessive and who ever is producing cotton and consuming that quantity of water to do so...... All they are doing is donating water to the clouds so it can rain in some other land other than where the cotton is growing? The cotton didn't consume 3000L to make a shirt, that's for sure! Maybe 300, but even then only a small percentage is absorbed by the cotton plant. The biggest costs associated with cotton is the millions of dollars spent on height gradienting the land so that flood inundation techniques can be employed to water the crop. In areas of high rainfall they tend to use water storage reservoirs (in Australia we call them turkey nest dams). The water is free because it's captured and stored. It's not consumed it's contributed back as evaporated water somewhere else? And somewhere else is watering something different...... And their water is that takes a huge dump to be stored for cotton farming? If you dig even the slightest hole in a cotton paddock you'll likely get shot immediately on the spot! You've just created a depression and that is going to cause big problems! Lol
My Brother had Leukemia and broken hip. last last 3 years of his life got daily Morphine injection. two month before he die, switched to cannabis, He told me doctors betrayed him giving him morphine , which made him addicted and out of control. Cannabis took the pain away without losing his consciousness.
@Dovah-chan Imagine in real life someone tells you about a lost loved one and what they did to help them in the little time they had left and responding by starting to laugh out loud and saying weeed... Do you realise how many people would instantly consider you as a strange insensitive person and ignore you after that?
I got a funny immune system and have food intolerances and I do find that smoking weed helps when I am sick.. It keeps me going for depression and anxiety too.
Marajuana seems legitimate to use for pain control and other medical situations. Some overuse it for recreation, but I think it's less harmful than alcohol.
Hemp is a wonderful plant, especially because it does not need a lot of water, fertilizer and no pesticides and produces a lot of biomass. It would be a wonderful addition for farmers to diversify their crop rotation.
theres over 25 000 industrial products from this resource....most were in use and well known 100 years ago ...enter big pharma and population control and h j anslinger nuff said it has so many uses and values it is criminal not to use it
I live in Japan and have many clothes made of hemp, the oldest fiber material in the country. Hemp clothes are very very nice to wear and see. Hemp is by far the best plant in the world for multiple usages. We should all grow hemp.
My great-grandfather made a lot of things from hemp using different parts of the plant - baskets, ropes, rags, sacks, door mats, even an air filter! And that was a century ago. For the record, the hemp plant he used had very different characteristics from "ganja". It's a separate species (Cannabis ruderalis maybe, but I'm not sure). It got banned a long time ago, not because people were misusing it, but because narrow-minded and/or vile-tempered politicians did not want the general populace to have access to such a versatile plant. It allowed people to be independent and self-sufficient in many aspects of their daily lives. And that's something Big Brother does not like.
there is no seperate species actually, all cultivars can be crossed to have fertile offspring, some cultivars even change in morphology when planted in a much higher altitude.
@@seaweedisvegetable8465 it was never genetically modified, we have selectivly breeded cannabis to have more attractive properties over many years to get to where we are today
Banning hemp was not so much a mistake, as successful lobbying by DuPont corporation, which was pushing for the use of Nylon and other artificial fibres. Newly formed anti-drug police in the USA also had a vested interest in banning hemp. Great documentary otherwise.
It was a pity you didn't mention in detail one of the other major reasons there was such a massive campaign to prohibition. The fact that hemp oil was a direct competitor to fossil fuels and that wasn't convenient for the big shots that owned and profited from oil companies.
and now they can hike fuel prices because most people are ignorant of alternative fuel sources. I even heard hemp can make more efficient, clean and safe batteries than lithium, wouldn't be surprised if this was true
That doesn't sound right. Vegetable oil has to be laboriously extracted by picking seeds and then pressing them, all while taking up a lot of land to produce relatively little oil. Whereas fossil fuel is just pumped out of holes in the ground. It's like suggesting a baby jamming on his first xylophone is a direct competitor to the Rolling Stones.
we basically have everything we need, I can bet that even energy storagge could be found in nature, just engineers can't see it or make it too coplicated, I can bet sand and sea water, salt water could be used for energy storage, we just need to find a way to make it in the cheapest way possible

It has some benefits but also some cons, THC is not good for the brain. It shrinks the hippocampus which is the short term memory/learning center of the brain. It makes it harder to store new information and learn. This makes it negative for young people who have a lot of learning to do in life.

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.
Overcoming the power of addiction is no easy achievement. Every day can be a struggle against inner turmoil and outside pressures, exerting influence on you.
Psychedelics definitely have potential to deal with mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, I would like to give them a try but haven't found any legit grower to get it.
A lot of people have testified about this and I really want to give it a shot. I put so much on my plate and it definitely affects my stress and anxiety levels
When my State legalized cannabis I was able to finally stop using opiates. I have chronic pain and COPD, now, I can manage both incredibly better than while addicted to legal heroin. 😊 My entire Life changed for the better. I never smoke, obviously. ✌ Now, hemp can help fix our environment, for sure. We can make so many improvements in how Earthlings live. The US Government doesn't want Americans to have better lives, tho. That's against "the People", not For us. Hope everyone has a lovely day!
I recently tried cannabis, and the pain killing properties of it are insane. I coincidentally had some tooth pain, and I couldn't even feel my own face lmao.
Heroin was a trademark name for a legal pain killer. People thought it would be an addiction free morphine. History repeats itself and companies are happy to sell you the newest opoid. Of course there are people who need really strong pain killers but maybe we should generally try cannabis before opoids.
"The government" doesn't care so much as a few very powerful interests that in turn, lobby the government for change. Eg: artificial fibre companies, smoking companies, pharmaceutical companies (the biggest industry in USA - over $550 billion in 2020), and of course.. religious conservatives.
Ever since seeing that family guy episode completely describing what happened, I did my own research (because y'know family guy) and my god were they right. A few years ago I started using weed for pain. It literally saved my life. A couple years ago my fried lost his sister to an accidental overdose due to pain from a horrible car accident. I believe she’s still be here if she’d had access to weed. It makes me think of all the people who have lost their lives in a similar manner or even lost the life they knew because they fell into the trap of being prescribed pain meds then those are stopped by doctors without realizing their patients had a new problem. I think there have been millions. It makes me furious and so sad

I honestly think weed is going to be big in the future, partly because of the stress- and anxiety-ridden society we live in but also for these eyeopening opportunities this video presented, ( more eco-friendly building material, fabric, paper). Even if it's not very researched I think for sure it's not something to be pushed away but something to really consider and rediscover.
It could, but if used in gradually increased doses, that effect can also be managed. The "black market" cannabis is often "cut" meaning it's got other chemicals or substances added which aren't studied or known.
I agree with you 100% ebba but unfortunately weed, hemp, ganja, and all of it's physical and chemical propertiess are illegal to be clinically or generally researched so until then we won't know what marijuana can truly do for us.

I remember reading some books where they mention hemp made products and was always wondering if it's either different kind of hemp or for some reason we went different path for some reason and now we are rediscovering it's potential.
The stigma behind many people's reluctance to embrace hemp was created by the US government. I remember sneaking a puff on a cannabis pipe in my younger days and almost feeling ashamed of myself for being such a naughty boy. I got that feeling because I had been lied to for many years!
Indians used it for spiritual purposes. The government made it illegal when Nixon dropped the hammer on it and made it a federal offense, prison time! Such criminals!...well, guess I'm a big bad criminal, never hurt anyone, never shot anyone....just a laid back trying to live life happily!!
Yes, the key ingredient to prohibitionist policies is called psychological warfare. Convince society that the drugs pose a great threat to public safety, and the public will subsequently demand harsh policies to neutralize the threat. That creates support for politicians who then blame the drug users' moral failings for the unsuccessfulness of their garbage drug policies.
It was a privilege for me to get some know how by watching this video . Especially in Sri Lanka /Ceylon this plant comes under banned farming category . According to the historical findings this magical tree had banned by colonialists in south asian countries . It was a true belief nowadays that the products of this plant have given an immense support for the different ancient societies to perform miracles in 2000 years written history in StiLanka
Exactly. The military used hemp during WW1 and 2. DuPont pretty much made a deal with Henry Anslinger; who was the equivalent of the head DEA at the time to make it illegal because it was cutting into DuPont’s polyester profits.
DuPont also pretty much caused a lot of cancer when the created Teflon pots and pans. The chemicals produced from from it was just pour into West Virginia water

Industrial hemp has been scientifically proven to absorb more CO2 per hectare than any forest or commercial crop and is therefore the ideal carbon sink. In addition, the CO2 is permanently bonded within the fiber that is used for anything from textiles, to paper and as a building material. But yes, lets keep creating synthetic fabrics from oil that take centuries to degrade, and will in the meantime poison the planet and other beings we share it with 🤪
I have always been intrigued by the connection between the outlawing of hemp products such as rope and the establishment of the US man-made fibre industry.
my mom once told me that my great grandparents were growing hemp to make clothes and i was so confused because i thought it's just a drug. i hope hemp will be more popular and it wont be associated with drugs only :)
It will be more popular because the industries will require alternatives, Business is only driven to alternatives when its source or methods is compromised. In the past, these were never a concern unlike now. The very doom created by the business is also what drive themselves to clean up as all they want is to grow more by their own greeds.
A man in Tarpon Springs (Tampa, Florida, USA) has a home built of Hempcrete. I heard this on local public radio- NPR, WMNF 88.5FM. He did mention a small amount of CO² is offgassed and gone in 1st few months and attracts mosquitoes but STILL WELL WORTH THE NET ADVANTAGE of the material.

Hemp was made illegal to make way for dupont plastics. As well as it competed with tobacco products. Also it is mentioned in the Holy Bible, for its medicinal purposes, sweet calamus, also Kanno bos. Could you imagine how it interfered with the progress of pharmaceutical companies. Four valid reasons why it should be reclassified, and made legal.
In Eswatini (Swaziland), the Opium and Habit forming Drugs Act of 1921 is a piece of legislation introduced by the British to criminalize the plant because they feared that it would destroy their cotton industry. It is not true that the plant is inefficient in contrast to trees in terms of the production of paper. Moreover, in about the same year or so in the USA, a car was built entirely out of hemp which they saw as a threat. Indigenous people the world over have used and are very knowledgeable about the plant compared to Europeans to be very frank. It boils down to economics at the end of the day.
Good video. Hemp can be a rotational crop in a regenerative agriculture farm. Growing hemp in this way could be done to replace ethanol , animal feed, human feed, and as mentioned, paper and building. Very versatile product with multiple products.

Medicine too, I found using THC extremely helpful in helping me cope with grief. It helped stop the depression from overwhelming me. It helps with many other conditions too.
THC kills my tourettes and helps immensely with PTSD. I'd otherwise have to pay tons for medication for either, that's a driving factor for it being banned. Greed.
It helped me with alcohol abuse. Not a stereotypical raging alcoholic but not very far off. With THC I quit cold turkey, without any outside influence or pressure to quit, I just didn't want to drink anymore, and to this day I don't even crave alcohol, even after I stopped smoking. If I try to drink alcohol, I get sick. I have lots of alcohol at home, but I keep it around for guests/gifts/parties. I miss smoking more than I miss drinking. Why it's still illegal is beyond me. This is a very informative piece. I love the open and factual approach to the topic of Cannabis. It is become more and more clear that the criminalisation of the plant and focus on the abuse of the recreational aspect was intentional. If we are honest with one another, it is the players in sectors like the Pharmaceutical as well as Textile industries that championed the policies which led to how it is perceived today. We need to overcome decades of mental conditioning and social engineering that ensured it is shunned. With more insights and detailed research as well as demonstrated benefits of the plant, I believe the process of unlearning is well underway. Cannabis stands to do the world a whole lot of good in the long run. And just to point out; the use of Cannabis as a recreational substance is alright. It is when it is overused (abused) that it becomes harmful. Infact, ANYTHING that is overused is harmful to the person using it. Alcohol is okay but when abused, we get alcoholics - but I am yet to see a Ban on Alcohol!. #ThatIsAllForNow -DK- Lots of Love & Light from Mombasa, Kenya ❤
the way i always understood it was that illegalizing hemp was a business move. that it was done to eliminate the competition. the ones who started had a "vested" interest in companies that would greatly benefit it hemp were made illegal. they just took advantage of their constituents prejudices and ideals to make it happen
main reason was fro enforcement purposes ... alcohol taken from prohibition left a huge void in how GOV can regulate, enforce etc.... cannabis plant was targeted, renamed Marijuana to confuse everyone and then prohibited ... pharma was coming on board too at the time and needed to make all nature derived meds look horrible to move everyone over to synthetic meds etc... they rule the market now

hemp is going to be massive in the coming years, and rightfully so. One thing I'd love to see done with it, is windfarms. Using the fibers and resin to essentially create carbon fiber, use that for making the turbines of windmills. That way they'd be biodegradable after it's end of life. Also useful for biofuel, who KNOWS how it helps us with the endocannabinoid system inside of us, and the fact that It can almost single handedly replace paper production - something we use FARR too much of, I believe hemp is going to be a big deal.

In my country, Sierra Leone, many young men have made a living growing cannabis for a lucrative trade in banned substance. This has had an immense impact on food crops production not only in terms of diminishing numbers in crop production but also in terms of costs for hired labour. My migraine episodes usually last weeks right now Im at day 5 of a chronic headache and while cannabis does not help with the pain, Im at least eating, and not throwing up, without cannabis I would need to take additional pills for nausea and supplements to feel hungry and taking those additional meds would bring additional unwanted side effects. I believe that eventually hemp use in all its ramifications will be widespread as more research looks into its potential benefits, many of which have already been proven.😊
So 20 years back, there was a small store in Helsinki that specialized in legal hemp products - clothes etc. (The story goes it had to close because the police raided it all the time and finally the stress was too much for the owner.) The hemp pants they sold were some of the most comfortable garments I've ever used. Sadly, I quickly learned that even if hemp fibre is strong in the sense that it withstands being pulled apart, it's not strong in the sense of withstanding friction. I bike all the time, and the seat of the pants disintegrated in weeks. On the other hand, the pair that I've only been using for special occasions has lasted these 20 years. So can't recommend for active use but otherwise fine :)
I saw towels made of hemp. So soft. There are so many uses we could have for the hemp, and perhaps changing the processing would allow fabrics to be strong enough to deal with friction. Remember ropes were made entirety of hemp, raising and lowering sails, so it must have properties of dealing with friction.
07:25 Those are forests that are PLANTED FOR PAPER PRODUCTION! Everybody's seen those forests, trees neatly in rows, no randomness. They use low wood quality, fast growing trees. Nobody's gonna use high quality hardwood for paper, that wood is too expensive! You didn't need this statistics trick, you were doing a good job with the video up to this point!
And what has to be removed first in order to plant plantation forests? That’s right, old growth forest. Plantations create ecological deserts, they degrade soil, add to erosion and impact water quality.
After medical Cannabis became legal in my state I started growing my own and ended up producing a bunch of leaves. I figured out I could turn them in the a juice to drink in the mornings. If you make a juice from all parts of a mature female plant, It has all the nutrition your body needs.

It is possible that the plant will gain popularity and regain some of its past uses. However, some serious companies must get involved to promote its use in different sectors of activity. What is certain is that a plant with such a complex molecular structure cannot only be "bad" for society. Nature does not create "bad" things.

Lol

Yes, the key ingredient to prohibitionist policies is called psychological warfare. In Eswatini (Swaziland), the Opium and Habit forming Drugs Act of 1921 is a piece of legislation introduced by the British to criminalize the plant because they feared that it would destroy their cotton industry. There are no "fun" properties in hemp. You're thinking of cannabis. If you smoke hemp, you get a headache. That's about it.

It was emotional sad that the government put too much pressure/ restrictions to the farmers for producing the cannibus products. The products actually saved lives in consistent of asthma, the covid19, arthritis and many other health conditions. I love your videos about the benefits of using hemp and cannibus products.
hemp is going to be massive in the coming years, and rightfully so.
If by resin you mean epoxy, that's not biodegradeable.
@@silvergreylion no I mean the literal resin that hemp creates itself. It can be used as a binder for making hemp based carbon fiber
@@Fenthule Can't wait to smoke retired wind turbine resin!
We also have biodegradable hemp plastic, hemp steel cars, and even hemp bricks.

You have to talk about the medical uses of cannabis, for example against seizures, cancer and psychological illneses
Cannabis isn't used against cancer. It's used to lower pain caused by chemotherapy.
Smoking cannabis can in fact cause cancer.
@@PG-3462 yes smoking it, and to be fair there has to be more research done, but there has been anecdotal reports of cancer patients who started using strong doses of thc(think 1-2000mg), and their cancer cleared up when the doctors told them they had a terminal illness. until proper studies have been conducted tho, these reports will stay anecdotal
Yes, smoking anything produces tar - known carcinogen.
@@PG-3462 Smoking tobacco causes cancer. I never heard that smoking cannabis causes cancer. There is minor evidence for use of cannabis against cancer
In 2021, scientists reported the final results of this phase 1 study to treat people with recurrent glioblastoma with Sativex in combination with the chemotherapy drug, temozolomide. Researchers found that adding Sativex (patients were allowed to choose the amount they took) had acceptable levels of side effects, which included vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and headache. They also observed that more patients were alive after one year using Sativex (83%) compared to those taking the placebo (44%). However, this phase 1 study only involved 27 patients, which was too small to confirm any potential benefits of Sativex, and was intended to find out if it was safe to take by patients.
@@christopherstein2024 🤦♂️ It's smoke that gives cancer. Tobacco is what makes you addicted to it. You need to understand the difference.

Hemp is illegal, and liquor isn't? Any sense!
Control
In my country, Sierra Leone, many young men have made a living growing cannabis for a lucrative trade in banned substance. This has had an immense impact on food crops production not only in terms of diminishing numbers in crop production but also in terms of costs for hired labour. These young men use fertilizers, and today constitute a small minority of farmers who can afford the extortionist prices of 50 kg bags of 15-15-15, 20-20-0 or urea in the parallel market. A Chang in policy will immediately allow youth and older farmers diversify not only production but also processing for local and export markets. What a REVOLUTION that would be in our impoverished rural communities. Eliminating corrupt police injustices could be a huge added bonus.
I'm watching this while smoking it. Btw, the pharmaceutical, alcohol & tobacco industries also lobbied hard to get it banned. You might want to look into that as well 👍
They tried with Kava Kava and Kratom too.
IMO the corporatization of legal "medical" marijuana is a HUGE mistake also..I'm very concerned about all the chemicals being used to produce it..these chemicals are much more likely than not harmful to users..
"Corporatization" is a very strange word. If you seen the past, capital and power will tend to pool into smaller number of entities. This is a natural progression of things. At the start a lot of very small players emerges. Then most of them failed, some of them merge. What's left are those who strong enough to survive, which are usually large organization.
@@bltzcstrnx yes, I made that word up (I think) I don't consider the formation of eventual monopolies "natural" , it's CLEARLY not good for most of us and we should be resisting it - not laying down in front of the train and letting ourselves be run over...any thoughts on the extensive chemical use I mentioned?
@@richardprofit6363 You seriously believe illegal producers don't use any toxic chemical ????
Even if I don't use it (even if it's legal here in Canada), I'd definitively have 10,000 times more trust into highly regulated corporations than into a random person producing it in his garage.
@@richardprofit6363 Legal is definetly better if you are worried about chemicals. If you grow your own you know you are safe. But dealers straight up spray their stuff with hairspray or synthetic drugs no way that big corp could be worse. It's probably not more toxic that your average cucumber from the store. It's probably like with nuclear power where it is so "dangerous" that it ends up being much less dangerous than "the normal thing" after tons of regulation is applied. But it can't hurt to watch out for big corp.

I am resistant to most pain numbing medications including the local anesthetic lidocaine (Yes it's as bad as it sounds, stitches and dentistry are torture.) THC is one of the few things that can ease the pain in my joints and it helps me stay positive even when the odds are against me.
Isn't THC the psychoactive substance that gets you high while CBD, already legal for sale in oil form, helps with inflammation, chronic pain and insomnia?
@@PrimoStracciatella Both CBD and THC activate cannabinoid receptors, but THC is stronger than CBD and has a much more pronounced effect. CBD is usually combined with THC when used medically for people. I've found that CBD is helpful but not enough to make my pain manageable but THC is enough to dull the pain. Without it I'd be unable to walk every day or really do anything besides lay down.
@@PrimoStracciatella CBD helps with inflammatory based pains while THC helps with Nerve related pains - CBD = CB2 and THC= CB1.
Edit - those are but two molecules out of hundreds in the plant ... no way to really base any claims on two out of 570
@@PrimoStracciatella We don't actually know how cannabis works. Weed gets you high that's something I sure know.
THC alone can get you high but that doesn't mean that it's the only thing. CBD alone doesn't get you high but that doesn't mean that it doesn't when it's taken with other cannabinoids. Terpenes interact with the Cannabinoid receptors too. Getting high and pain relief aslo can mean the exact same thing.
There's a difference between getting high and pain relief.
CBD oil is for pain relief and THC is getting you high.
THC-free CBD oil won't get you high but fullspectrum weed with high THC levels and low CBD, does and relieves minor pain.
Thanks for another great video. It definitely hints at the unimaginable potential of Hemp in the future, based on the interesting figures shared in the video.
Based on 2022 assumptions we are forecasting the global market valuation of Hemp at $4B with opportunities to reach around ~$170B. That is a huge 'aha-moment," for the visionaries. Cannabis is very necessary, has helped me a lot with mental issues and anxiety.
Recently I have been suffering from a bad case of migraine pain. While cannabis itself does not remove the pain, it has been helping with the other symptoms I experience while I have these migraine episodes.
Usually during these migraines aside from the chronic headache I also get dizzy, irritablility, nausea, and vomiting.
Cannabis helps lessen that irritability but mostly the nausea and vomiting. Th only downside to cannabis is future employment drug screenings.
I used to have a bad stomach but I found out that"flavored water"has helped me out I used to drink plain water 💧💦 but now it's better for me but I still do get migraines once in awhile but I think I've heard that ginger root is good for upset stomach if not try ginger ale or root beer

I believe that eventually hemp use in all its ramifications will be widespread as more research looks into its potential benefits, many of which have already been proven.😊
i hope so, but the elite made it all but disappear from history once so i assume they will continue their fight against the interests of the people
We need more hemp products like paper, shoes, skyscrapers, and more. Hemp save us our lives.
@@ninemoonplanet I only ever "pat" myself dry with towels - never rub.
I don't think it's good for the skin to do that.
No microplastics from hemp.
Wow, this is an eye opening knowledge. We should never replace them at the first place!

It wasn't a huge "mistake" it was done completely intentionally. Thank H. J. Anslinger for the intentional misinformation, his buddy ran a rope company and didn't want competition from hemp.
The greatest wonder about hemp is how demonized the plant is and that people do not want to use this gift.
It is possible that the plant will gain popularity and regain some of its past uses. However, some serious companies must get involved to promote its use in different sectors of activity.
What is certain is that a plant with such a complex molecular structure cannot only be "bad" for society. Nature does not create "bad" things.
with real biochemistry we can only prove that ingesting cannabis is beneficial to our bodies
