I second that. A lot of reviews are really dry and tend to be just a tad on the boring side. On the other side we have Chris, who is having a blast out there, and it comes across very strongly in his videos. He also does a good job of getting right to the heart of the matter by explaining what a particular bike is designed to do, and who should consider buying it (and who shouldn't). It seems like a lot of journalists do little more than read the spec sheet and give a general first impression, but a good review should never sound like the reviewer is just repeating the manufacturer's marketing notes. Journalists should respect the audience enough to give us raw, unfiltered opinions.
@@donaldmaddox4531 I third that! He is a hell of a rider too! Believe it or not, i got almost that same response once. He said "is that a 1290?" And I said "Yup". Turns out he had a S1000RR. Let me off with a warning.
What a machine and what a review! That's what we are waiting for a ktm bike, pure fun and wheelies. I really hope the 890 r will be able to give such fun too because I ordered one 😁 Cheers from France
Chris, you do a great job of balancing technical details, “seat of the pants” feel, the OEM’s philosophy, and your own personal opinions and impressions. You make it look easy and sound very natural, but I’m sure a lot goes in to creating this kind of content...so thank you!
Chris, really respect you as a rider and a journo, I have the SDR GEN2 but after your test, I will definitely be testing the GEN 3, I agree it is a fun machine, I've got the B500 to look forward to this year.....cant wait...thanks.

One of the very best reviewers out there and I agree. This is possibly the only non pretentious bike left. Its a bike for the sake of being a bike and providing fun for the rider. If only more were like it.
I don't think any reviewers nailed it on the head better than you did, Chris. It's not made to win races, it's made to bend faces! Picked up my 2020 last week and I'm enjoying the shit out of it. Going to do a proper comparison with my 1.0 SDR soon. This new model really has been refined in so many ways.....but yet, it's still a BEAST!
Hi from India, Was googling this bike.. Found your channel through this video and I am pretty sure I am going on a video spree of your bike reviews. Excellent exciting review really gets you excited for the bike. Just like the KTM this video was very very entertaining. Killer soundtrack! Thanks! Hopefully KTM launches this bike in India.
When there's a car vs bike drag race video. I always know the results when Chris is riding. The guy who waved bye bye to p1 and 918 :D. Love the review nice and easy presentation. Keep up the good work
Proper review! As a former Gen 1 owner I can say that they appear to have addressed several issues that limited its ability on the track. Looking forward to a street fighter comparison one of the two will have a spot in the garage and on trackday😉
Hey Chris. Really nice job on this one. You made one point really clear. This is one fun machine and it looks like it can do it all! Nice riding as well!
OK that's what I call a review! Thank you Chris! Need to try one, my rsv4 is killing my wrists on the road, I'm too old for this, I need a stupid beast
Those dyno curves are like nothing else. That bike is insane. It's a wonder the front tire ever comes down. As nice as it is, the Ducati Streetfighter is mostly a naked super bike. THIS is a street fighter.
No other engine gives you high horsepower and high torque. Before you had to choose either a torque bike or a peaky high rpm horsepower bike. The Goldilocks bike for the street as everything happens in that sweet spot, 3500-8500 rpm. You do not have to be Screaming the engine. Track bikes are able to fully scream out the engines on the fast track vs the street. I am glad they are not trying for horsepower wars as more rpm means higher revs and less torque. Making the bike lighter is more expensive than just making the motor bigger. But a lighter bike helps more, handling, braking, acceleration, etc.
Great video very well done , ktm don't tell you but if you fit full akro system and remap you will loose road going lights this only applies to 2020 model
Nice to hear that irresponsible is back looked like fun wheelies everywhere and as you say fun times with your Duke I'm off to get a lottery ticket great to watch inspiration for others and thank you for the video awesome viewing 😍👍
Currently own the 2019 duke 390... this is the dream. Some day. Might jump onto the 790 first to have a nice progression curve. Kinda new to heavier bikes. :)
I think I found my next bike. I have been focused on lap times for so long riding my Panigale V4S, but on the road I enjoy the type of riding seen in this video, and the duke seems to be a better machine to do that on the street than a hyper sport. Nothing wrong with the Pani though, but more comfort on this beast. Awesome review.
this video explains exactly why i cant get enough of my ktm. I'm normally a responsible grown family man but when i got a superduke everything changed...
Thinking about getting this as my 2nd bike. Bit scared of gaining an additional 80hp from my current bike, but the gen 2 SDR was surprisingly easy to ride. Twisting the throttle did have me shaking of adrenaline while laughing like an idiot for the whole test ride though ... 😁
