- Welcome to "a very special episode" of Constellation, Last Stand Media's conversational podcast. This week, I (Colin) am joined by a duo of guests as opposed to our traditional trio: Punching Up's Gene Park and storied game designer David Jaffe. In an unusual (though not unprecedented) move, I asked the guys not to come prepared with any topics this week. Instead, I thought we'd just chat about whatever and see where that brought us. Perhaps not surprisingly, a lack of a concrete plan led us into nearly three hours of video game talk about a wide variety of topics: Concord, Astro Bot, Drawn to Death, Jim Ryan, Mark Cerny, Naughty Dog, The Last of Us Online, Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, God of War, PlayStation games going to Xbox, Phil Spencer, Bobby Kotick, Nintendo, Super Switch, and on and on. He came off very emotional i dont think he was being objective. Im not saying concord is amazing but its not that far off from overwatch,
@@YungPop its very far off from OW2, common. The skins sucked, the modes sucked, OW plays better than Concord did, The character designs are better in OW, the game modes in OW2 are more fun, the maps are better. "Not far off" is a stretch.

Gene is right about Nintendo. It's ridiculous that entire industry just pretends Nintendo's success can't be replicated just because they've mimicked it so poorly.

"Where are the games" is ironically a reflection of being overwhelmed by having a lot of games to play. There's so much out there that it can feel like no game is the right one for you. Same goes all the streaming platforms as well. I've spent hours just browsing the catalog. You almost have to just click play instead of deliberating on its merits. At least that works for me.

Been a fan of Jaffe since the day God of War released. He pisses me off every single time he speaks but I still love him. This right here is a group I could listen to everyday. Precisely because their viewpoints are so varied.
I've platinum Outlaws, I love this game. Also 100% all chests and side quests. Took me 130+ hours.

Astro Bot is absolutely amazing. Fun and engaging gameplay every moment, always something new and fun to play around with. Brilliant variety and platforming. Constantly addicting. Definitely the game of the year, it's not even close.
The movement in concord is so slow that I couldn’t get past it. No idea what jaffe liked about it.

I personally think Sony should make a GTA style game since nobody else is making games in that space besides Rockstar and there's clearly a lot of money that can be made in that genre. They are also one of the last few big game publishers that have the budget to do it. I guess they can't deal with the controversy with the player having the ability to run over or kill random pedestrians or hookers on the street and causing all sorts of chaos in the open world.
The reason Gene couldn’t hear Jaffe’s bad audio is because he’s using AirPods. AirPods specially downgrade audio quality in most voip calling apps because of their Bluetooth connection. So it all probably sounds the same.
You can compare wired vs AirPods in any web calling app and hear the audio is downgraded from clear to prison phone.
Yes this is correct. I don’t use studio grade headphones so I’m definitely the worst when it comes to determining audio quality!

Jaffe is spot-on about how there is nothing special about Killzone aside from the Helghast' designs (which was ripped-off from Jin-roh btw). The actual gameplay just comes off as a dollar store Call of Duty campaign, but instead of silky smooth controls, everything feels clunky and awkward.

As a paying member of Jaffe’s channel. I am SO GLAD he is out of gaming. His opinions on this were TERRIBLE majority of the time. Most of the bullshit he spewed has already been PROVEN wrong. Hopefully he reads this so I can explain to him, AGAIN, why he needs to rethink his stance of so many things.

My idea on fixing concord is to get a little 4th wall-y, literally create new badass characters and have them violently kill the original characters (even better if the green guy gets shot in the head while saying some goofy marvel line) . Maybe have them come back later on as ravaged zombie like characters coming back for revenge but for now give us some cool shit
They should just make an uncharted prequel instead of Uncharted 5

Jesus, talk about missing the wood for the trees with Xbox and gamepass (and the changing landscape of hardware in general). "COD won't sell consoles for Xbox"...Wrong, but even so they don't care! Gamepass sub (now ultimate) = Win. Sale on any platform = Win.
Jaffe is the only one who sees how the game has changed. Colin & Gene's thinking is so old fashioned, and based on how the Pro looks so is Sony's. Xbox will 'lose' the generation, but way too many people are confusing a battle with a war
Xbox will also lose the war. Gamepass isn’t sustainable and cod wont move the needle for gamepass subs at all

I’m leaning towards Jaffe’s idea of the timing of future gaming. I think we have one more console at most before they become optional boxes with quality of life features but not much else.

It’s kind of weird to let Jaffe insult some of the customers like that even if they are MAGA. “All are welcome” means share your view but don’t insult ppl if it’s not necessary. This rubs me the wrong way that Colin wants a wide variety of opinions on the show but Jaffe is the only one who constantly goes out of his way to insult part of the audience. Colin lets Jaffe do all that and then says we should all treat each other with respect. Am I the only one who noticed this? Seems a little one sided.
