I used to have a really bad automatic transmission leak on my 69 corvette. At first I thought it was the pan gasket because of where the fluid dripped. Fortunately, it ended up being a simple $0.10 o-ring on the dip stick tube base. That would be the first thing I'd recommend to check. I appreciate your videos. Keep it up.
Great job Ben, can't wait to see wider wheels and tires on that wide body to utilize the space in the wide fenders...put A 3:76 tail gear in the rear to li-veen it up.
Guessing those are the Chinisiumn OBX headers and side pipes? I put Doug's Headers side pipes with STS baffles on mine. Fit perfect with no issues. I highly recommend them.
Love those vettes with loud pipes good work Ben. When your ready to part with the Camaro look me up love to shoe horn one of my big blocks and a manual trans into that ride.Keep them on the road.!
Hooker headers and sidepipes are the best, I know because my 2nd - C3 (1975 convertible) had them. Wow, this wide body '76 sounds loud, and in a great way! Another decent video Ben, especially the last few minutes.
Those pipes are loud! are they straights or are there baffles in them? Also Kevin is going to owe you big time. That is a whole lot of stuff to un-bubba! The engine bay looks so nice now.
Great job Ben ! Man that thing is bubba'd huh ? ! lol. I was really expecting you to find a couple wood screws ! heheh. ! Sounds great ! I always loved the sound of side pipes. I rebuilt my 331 Caddy v8 and she sounded so nice...but through my phone microphone, she sounded like a drum and bugle corps ! lol. peace !
15:08 I just got to the bit with the transmission kickdown thing, and yeah, I think I know the mindset of the person who did that, oh I'm only gonna ever manually shift the thing so I dont need it, just take it off and leave it. So if you see anything else that needs stuff like that with the transmission, CHECK IT lol
Nice work on the Vette. On to more important things: when are you going to do something about the neighbor's sedan-appliance concealed so well from the street by the orange mower? Or is it the orange mower that you need to fix? Seriously, it might be interesting to see you bring your experience to the orange lawn-mower.
A lot of work, knowledge of the vehicle helps decipher backwards install from previous owner, question do turbo 350 and 400 transmissions operate off of vacuum from the intake manifold starting in the 7os models !
Does the fan belt line up with the alternator ? It might be view from the camera, but it looked like belt didn’t fit. Was this a junkyard motor & whom ever didn’t know to change pulleys & filler neck ( that when on motor it pointed wrong direction) . Sorry if I’m stuff you went over. You really seem to know corvettes. I have friend who used to restore them. Always had one in the shop torn all apart.
Hello Ben just a quick question, how would you know if the birdcage is okay. Reason is I'm thinking of buying one in the UK. Hope you could do abit on the birdcage. Hope you haven't done it already, cheers if you can. All the best from UK
I bought one sight unseen, currently waiting for it to arrive in the UK. From my hours of research, you've gotta get someone who knows c3's inside out to check it out before you buy, no amount of pictures will show you what the trim could be hiding. A big sign of a rotten birdcage are sagging doors so check the shut lines but there are loads which show nothing outside and are rotten as a pear inside. Also make sure to check the body mounts and the frame around the rear wheels.
YOU WOULD THINK HOOKER HEADERS WOULD LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS! NOW DAYS MOST UPPER MANAGMENT SPENDS THEIR TIME ON THEIR SMART PHONES INSTEAD OF DOING THEIR JOB. THAT DEGREE GIVES THEM THAT RIGHT, YOU KNOW.
I'm not a fan of that harsh transition of the fenders to the doors. I'm curious about what they did to move the wheels out, did they get new wheels with different backspacing or something? I wouldn't be surprised to find out the previous owner put every washer he could find on the wheel studs to make some top notch wheel spacers!
I can buy a very similar car, even same blue color, for $15k. Dealer says it’s just been sitting no one wants the wide body. I told him the younger crowd will want it but most of his clients are old. It’s a $20k plus car. Kicker is the 350/350 is not numbers matching.
I wouldn't be able to drive one mile ,here in UK, with those side pipes. Maximum noise level is 80 decibels, the police would soon have me off the road.
What brand name headers and side pipes were those? I'm thinking of buying some Doug's and was hoping they would fit perfectly. Hoping these weren't Doug's lol!
I'm not a "header" fan for starters, but I bought a set of Dougs headers for a 57 Chevy and was very pleasantly surprised with the weight and fit. All Good so far !!!
Buy that other property that has sivler shed on it when were on the test drive backing up...circular drive way and lot more acres for projects, bigger shop storage and parts cars....and chickens cats dogs and other animals...lol
Is it me or is the alt belt not quite lined up correctly? Great job getting her fixed up. Just like Corvette Summer 1978... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corvette_Summer
Should have bought the Doug's Headers brand. Not as expensive as the Hooker ones, (If you can get them) But not the garbage that you get from OBX. Just my 2 cents!
I never understood why people think cutomizing a Corvette is cool. A mint stock example from the period would be way more appealing to me, and most other people.
Basically, To avoid any problems...(and heavily de-valuing the car), Someone should not have added the Super Ugly "Daytona" Wide-Body kit to begin with.... lol... This has to be one of the ugliest Vettes that I've ever seen. No lie.. Great work though as always Ben... You can only do so much with what you have!
Great job on that car. BUT...... Corvette C3 body lines and design are so great, this is the perfect example how it could be ruined by a widebody kit. No way, this car is UGLY.
That poor car is useless for anything other than spare parts. Let it give it's life to save some other basket case without a wide body kit. It want's to die... Let it...
That paint!!! Incredible! And the filled seams is a really nice touch. First class!
I used to have a really bad automatic transmission leak on my 69 corvette. At first I thought it was the pan gasket because of where the fluid dripped. LOL.. GOT TO LOVE THE BUBAS IN EVERY SPORT OR HOBBY!
love the videos and they have helped me get my 77 up and going!! thanks a ton!
Not a corvette lover but that car is badass!!
That kit still makes me laugh... that is some straight up mullet-level kit.
Exactly! I can just see Rowdy Roddy Piper saying DAYUM!
Was this not a Nut Foose car?
Classic Turbo GT design by John Greenwood. But it is not a real one.
@@chrissmith7669 Yes. And it looks awesome, the video doesn't do it justice. I have a Greenwood Corvette with the GT Body.
sunday 8 o, clock !
your naigbors are your new best friends !!!
Damn I wish you were my neighbor. I’m just starting w my first C3 and it’s a crazy puzzle mystery
Nice work. These vintage kits aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it looks great for what it is.
Great job Ben, can't wait to see wider wheels and tires on that wide body to utilize the space in the wide fenders...put A 3:76 tail gear in the rear to li-veen it up.
Love the road racer look.
Guessing those are the Chinisiumn OBX headers and side pipes? I put Doug's Headers side pipes with STS baffles on mine. Fit perfect with no issues. I highly recommend them.
Ben...YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF!
paint the rocker black so it will set off the chrome and not distract from it.
The edelbrock needs andosised too imo
Nice work undoing the Bubba ! I'm personally not a fan of the wide body but what the heck its still a Vette
Love those vettes with loud pipes good work Ben. When your ready to part with the Camaro look me up love to shoe horn one of my big blocks and a manual trans into that ride.Keep them on the road.!
Nice work on the rocker panels
I love the side pipes!
Hooker headers and sidepipes are the best, I know because my 2nd - C3 (1975 convertible) had them. Wow, this wide body '76 sounds loud, and in a great way! Another decent video Ben, especially the last few minutes.
Great progress on the wide body. I wish I had your Chanel when I had my C3. The side pipes sound great, I’ve toasted my leg a few times on them. 😂
Bought Doug's for mine. Only thing I had problems with was steering box. Had to massage it a little
sounds really nice
Four Seasons makes nice thermostat housings for Chev engines.
Those pipes are loud! are they straights or are there baffles in them? Also Kevin is going to owe you big time. That is a whole lot of stuff to un-bubba! The engine bay looks so nice now.
WISH THIS DUDE WAS MY FRIEND,,,
pipes look good
That sounds sweet mate!!
Sounds awesome
@15:01 I'm right there with you on my latest bike build -_- haha
@14:31 "Let's get it out of here. Let's put it together right" - Amen
With tires that big on the rear, I hope the things uprated to the bigger stronger springs that the big block had
Why do the rear wheel housing's look so funky, did they needed trimming before they installed the wide body kit?
Damn it is loud and proud 🤘😎
Great job Ben ! Man that thing is bubba'd huh ? ! lol. I was really expecting you to find a couple wood screws ! heheh. ! Sounds great ! I always loved the sound of side pipes. Other thAn the bolt holes, how tough is the installation of the side pipes?
Nice work on the Vette. On to more important things: when are you going to do something about the neighbor's sedan-appliance concealed so well from the street by the orange mower? badass been waiting for this
A lot of work, knowledge of the vehicle helps decipher backwards install from previous owner, question do turbo 350 and 400 transmissions operate off of vacuum from the intake manifold starting in the 7os models !
350s yes, 400s no.
What radiator did you get? I’m changing mine next week. Thanks
Beautiful

That is the most bubbafied system over ever seen. And all that messed up wiring, wow.
body kit is an Eklers Corvette Greenwod can-am kit from back in the day
I think they still make them but for Tesla now and 3 inch spacers for wheels.
What kind of headers are they-need to get some long tubes!....Thanx

C E that’s a good question

i paid someone on the forum 200 bucks to check my car out, worth every penny.
There is not one body kit out there, that doesn't make a Corvette look horrible.
is that just a dirty mark on the windshield or a scratch? Here in this state if it's a scratch you would have to replace the windshield.
Is he gonna get a proper wheel set up for that widebody??
Yep...I have the Greenwood/Dukes of Hazzard wheels ready to install...Kevin
What kit is this? Where would I get it?
I've got a very stock '82 with only a little more to do.... ;-)
You should try Douges original side mount headers they are heavier gauge than hooker
Hey bro...im new to yo channel. I came in last week with the barn find camaro. You're awesome dude 💪🤜🤛
Be sure to watch video 1 on this first
@@TheCorvetteBen already watched em all 💪🤜🤛

Is that a can of scrubbing bubbles?
I wouldn't be able to drive one mile ,here in UK, with those side pipes. Maximum noise level is 80 decibels, the police would soon have me off the road.
The only thing thats bothering me it that door line looks like the alignment is off a bit.
nice vette
Drain buckets will save youre back from getting wet bro. lol
I read in corvette magazine that Douges original side mounts are better constructed than hooker
You payed good for the headers. You shouldn’t have to drill out
what is with this cool 53 olds 88 ?
Was this video before the Oldsmobile drive or is the Oldsmobile back on stands??
Buy that other property that has sivler shed on it when were on the test drive backing up...circular drive way and lot more acres for projects, bigger shop storage and parts cars....and chickens cats dogs and other animals...lol
Personally I'd say Doug's side mounts are better built than Hooker
Is it me or is the alt belt not quite lined up correctly? Great job getting her fixed up.
Just like Corvette Summer 1978... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corvette_Summer
Came for the Camaro but not problems for Corvette lol
Ben you do damn nice work! C'ya Bubba! Hello classy! if I ever own a 'vette you'd be the guy I would want wrenching on her :-)
Nice mechanical work...
Should have bought the Doug's Headers brand. Not as expensive as the Hooker ones, (If you can get them) But not the garbage that you get from OBX. Just my 2 cents!
Late to the party. Love C3s. Is that a Greenwood look that your going for?
Is this really a 1976. It looks like a 1975 couse the back is not in two parts
why a wide body? whats the deal with that other then wider wheels?
I never understood why people think cutomizing a Corvette is cool. A mint stock example from the period would be way more appealing to me, and most other people.
Three things: 1. Drugs 2. The 1970s 3. Drugs
I see the carburetor is leaking driver side
why not paint those grills flat black. It will look new!
I wish I could rescue this corvette from it current trash body kit and put it back to its original look.
BEN. I HAVE 74 COV NEED A NOSE AND FRONT BUMPER
All I have is 75-79 fronts
an eckler wide body !!
bubba motors
I hope Kevin did not pay much for that car initially
What’s the deal with the door gap. Does not look right.
Widebody kit
🛠
What is a "Bobber (Bobba)" ...... (maybe spelled wrong)
Who can explain it to me?
Bubba
@@TheCorvetteBen I think the best translation here in Germany is "Dummkopf" for that :-)
Thank you for the correct spelling ;-)
"Bubba" is a rural simpleton in America.
275 tires to small for this body . the most peoples in europe use 275 50 15 in front and 345 50 15 pirelli p7 tires
Where is your own vette?
