@@andrewmedia3568 So you just tap the momentary button to disarm? If so, it just seems like you’ve shifted your problem to another area 😂 Also you should note if using elrs that chan5/aux1 should always be used for arming disarming as it’s a low latency switch, and is sent with every packet unlike the other switches 👍
I made the same mistake once, I lost video and flipped the arm switch accidentally instead of angle mode. It's still lost on a mountain, never to be seen again.
Great video man! I think I'm gonna buy one of these frames! That Foxeer Mega looks great. And I 10000% agree with you, nothing more annoying that frame manufacturers using 5 inch bodies with 7 inch arms and calling it a "Long Range" frame. Like where are we supposed to mount our packs!?
Nice video. I had the exact same mishap with my Reckon 7 (disarmed instead of switching between angle and airmode), luckily it didn't damage any of the frame parts, just the antennas. I later moved the fly mode switch away from the arm/disarm switch, and conditioned disarming with minimum throttle. I'm pretty happy with the Reckon 7 overall. it's main shortcoming IMO is the relatively short battery bed, which really prevents you from using some of the packs out there that would have been a great fit if only the bed would have been ~1cm longer. Time to move to an o3 build :)
Building a Rekon 7” pro frame now . Putting HDZero in it. I learned to have my arm switch pushed back instead of pulled forward. Luckily I landed the wing ok. More like a controlled crash.
I did some modifications to my radio, and then went to fly without checking everything really well. I accidentally disarmed mid flight and it is still in the top of a HUGE tree.
Seems like a lot of work to put it in angle mode before you land. I always just float down to a inch or so off the ground and disarm. Works well for me, takes a little practice.
I always land my 5" in acro mode but i just worry about my front receiver antenna getting crushed by hard landings since its vertically mounted🤷♂. more practice for sure. 🤘
@@andrewmedia3568 Yea, I understand the wanting to make sure you have a good landing, to not damage the long range quad. It’s gotta be reliable and trustworthy. I’m pretty careful with my 7”. But it’s a source one so it’s pretty tough. Been 2.5 miles out 5 mile round trip.
What about the FR7 v5 or v6 by stynkebutt? It's open source so you're not dependent on any brand to stay alive to send you spare parts, has a huge-ass body and has a very interesting camera placement that allows for, in my opinion, the most beautiful shots when flying low to the ground.
Hey man, when you got into FPV, did you start with BNFs or did you just jump into building your first drone? Are there any BNF long range drones right now that you really like?
I started with a BNF, then moved to building. the flywoo explorer LR 4" is a good micro Long range. my buddy has one and it works well. Or GepRC MOZ7 is another one that looks good.
You can't use crossfire with ELRS different frequency antennas. You don't need long antennas to fly better. Put duel antennas on the arms if you want maximum coverage.

Hi, I have the same problem with disqrming during flight and I don't know how to fix it on transmiter. It would be great if you could share how exactly you set it up. thanks
Yes I still prefer the foxeer, larger body is better for the big batteries I use. The mega 7 comes with every print you will need for the most part, DJI O3 mount (if you dont want to bolt it down), front and rear receiver antenna mounts, GPS mount, VTX antenna mounts, feet for the arms, front end protection and plenty of room in the frame to put the receiver wherever you want. And I got a GoPro mount from Brain3D for the Rekon 7 that also works with the foxeer.
Did you do anything special with the compass orientation since it is not flat on this frame, but angled down around 10 degrees? I'm watching Painless 360's video on "How to setup a compass in INAV when it is at an angle?" video and cant find the "sweet spot" for my compass so that it doesn't drift around when I turn my quad while the quad in connected to INAV.
I never messed with any compass settings. I am using BetaFlight, I dont even know if there are compass settings in Betaflight. Sorry I don't know anything about INAV. 🤷♂
you know you dont have to use 2 switches to make a redundancy. you can use logic switches inside egdeTX to have it not disarm if your throttle is not below a certain threshold..
@andrewmedia3568 I like the two switch method you went with. It seems super intuitive amd natural and I'll be setting my toggle on my TX16S to serve that function. Thanks for the tip.
Thinking of getting back into drones with a 7" LR, the Foxeer frame is one I was thinking of grabbing, its been years since I last flew them (BF was on 2.1 or 2.3), just dunno if I should stick with analog for now since I still have my old goggles or go DJI or Walksnail, I can get the older V2 DJI goggles for good price but I'm not sure if there compatiable with the new o3 air
LR is alot of fun. And yes the DJI goggles v2 are compatible with the O3 air unit. That is what I'm using in this video. I flew 4 miles out with the O3 and the v2 goggles they work well together. And BF 4.4 is awesome. so many great features easy to use and the newer 4.4 GPS rescue works very well.
@@andrewmedia3568 Thanks mate, I need to seriously consider the V2's then, there used but from a shop that gives 2 year warranty on all its stuff, and here in UK there like £160 cheaper then Walksnail and nearly £300 cheaper then DJI Goggles 2, also maybe you've talked about this plenty but what sort of flight times and distance do you usually get when cruising? your disarm switch is very important and should really just be a single switch
why is the disarm so important?? I don't think its bad having it be separate. Does not seem to slow me down when disarming.
