  • Is this Intex pool knockoff worth it? Lets setup the new Bestway above ground pool and see how it compares to a similar Intex pool. For the base we are reusing what was already there. It is a crushed limestone base covered with tarps. We us larger patio blocks for the feet to sit. This kit comes it really easy to install with a couple peoples help.

    One very important thing is to use a good amount silicon slip spray on all the edge piping as it bonded to the vinyl in hot direct sunlight for me, and it wasn't a fun job trying to release it.
    Next year no problem with the spray.

    It's really all about that level, smooth, and compacted base base as you said...The Intex Pools really are a pretty good deal for the money! I had a round one with a pump when my kiddos were younger. Even on what you think is a "good flat piece of ground", your pool can get wonky as it settles and the summer goes along. I like how your parents have a deck to dive platform. I'm sure the kids of all ages love it! Great video Brother!

    Great video. Did you have any issues with your blocks (under the U poles) being above ground. Some people say you should dig down so they are flush with the ground level. I have a crush rock pad so its hard to dig into it. Will there be an issues with the pool being leveled if they sit on top of the pad? Thanks

    • @k6outdoors
      @k6outdoors  3 роки тому +4

      We historically haven't had a ton of issues other than "some" settling over time. These were a little bit above the packed surface and we have not had any issues. I don't recall the instructions calling out anything specific on then. I'm not sure you need to dig them in completely but a little bit (half the thickness) wouldn't hurt. You could always lay it out and see what it looks in your application. In my opinion the important part is that nothing is rubbing on the pool support piece. Thanks for stopping by!

  • @canucha1985
    @canucha1985 2 роки тому +2

    That liner at the beginning of the video that y'all were sweeping, is it just a heavy duty green tarp or what exactly is it? It look really smoothed out as well. The Bestway pool comes with a liner, but I don't think that should be the first barrier between the ground and the pool itself.

    • @k6outdoors
      @k6outdoors  2 роки тому +1

      It is a tarp we bought. Below the tarp is packed limestone for the base

    • @canucha1985
      @canucha1985 2 роки тому +1

      @@k6outdoors gotcha. That's kinda what I figured about the tarp. Did you use ground stakes to keep it nicely stretched out or just the weight of the pea gravel on top is keeping it like that? Also, how deep of gravel did you go?
      We have black soil here so it's pretty much clay and during the summertime it's hard as cement but it cracks and separates and then when it rains a lot it's very muddy and everything seems to sink onto it so I'd like to prevent that if possible.

    We set ours up yesterday and it’s only about 1/3 full of water so far. The sides are bowing in really bad and the weight of the water is really pushing out at the bottom (like a spare tire)!? My husband is concerned the steel bars are going to break or the pool is going to cave in!? You briefly said “the sides will straighten out as you fill up”… Should we be concerned? TIA for your insight and video.

    • @k6outdoors
