    Amma be honest , I know how to restore wood and plastic and prevent ( slow down ) from wearing off . I just pick one Copper-Based Wood Preservative, some stainless steel elbows and hinges and nails , maybe spent like 50-100$ on material reservation and it will last you longer that the warranty , just gotta be handy and know what you are doing .

      It's not always -25 F with 35 mph winds which drives that run time. For instance January 2024 the system ran an average of 2 hours per day and in December in ran on average 20 minutes per day. Just need to remember I am only keeping it 45 degrees in the shop. Hope this helps

      @k6outdoors yeah guess it depends on location. we only have a couple of months here that get in 20s. I'm thinking about getting one, but I just figured they would run a lot more, and my shops only 20x24 and is insulated

    Personally, the amount of shear-strength that plywood/OSB adds is a good justification. I live in the northeast US, so I will likely opt for 2x6 walls for my next shop, but I can't judge because my current setup pales in comparison to what you have. Looks like a great place to turn some wrenches and get projects done!

    I did the OSB inside my shop also. Drywall doesn't have a place in a working shop, if it's just a hangout than it would be fine. Have wished I had steel at times so I could wash vehicles inside in the winter, but with steel I'd have to make sure any hole I put in it to hang/mount something I'd have to think out completely. OSB I run a screw in and if two days later decide I would like it somewhere else I just move it. And even though there is a hole there it's not near as noticeable as if it was in steel.

    • @k6outdoors

    I always used a torpedo heater in my garage. Well, my wife bought me a 10,000 watt Comfort Zone electric garage heater. I have a 24'×40' pole barn with insulated metal panels on the sides and ceiling. I have 9' ceilings in the garage. It heats it very well. But about a month into the second winter I was working in the garage and I smell something hot. The distribution block where the power comes into the heater was melting down. Apparently I was not the only one that this has happened to. After thinking about my dilema for a while I got on the internet and ordered a 600 amp industrial distribution block and installed that in my garage heater. I'm on my second winter with it now with no issues. I'm sitting in my garage right now splitting kindling for the wood burner in the house. I no longer leave the heater or the breaker on when I'm not working in the garage. Sorry this is so long but I love my electric garage heater. That's why I tried to fix it to make it more reliable. God bless and have a wonderful day.

    The natural gas heater in my shop is on its last leg, it's now to the point it is louder than my 5hp stationary compressor. So, I just installed a 21,000 btu Pioneer mini-split in the shop. When I was first looking at them, Menards had them on sale earlier this year. I did find that the ones at Menards was actually still more than they were through the manufacturer's website. Then after I started research them on the Pioneer's site that the one at Menards was the lowest level one they offer. The ones at Menards were only rated down to around 15 degrees. The next step up went down to around 5 below zero. Then the one I ended up with is rated to 21 degrees below zero. The one that was rated down to 21 below was only around $400 more than the cheapest one and has higher efficiency than the ones that aren't rated as low. When I got home from work this morning at 6.8 degrees outside the shop was a nice comfortable 60 degrees. Biggest issue is with the Pioneer they don't come with the precharged lines like MrCool does. But I was able to cut my lines down to the length I needed. Was able to do my own install with a AC vacuum pump and AC manifold gauges from Harbor Freight and an adapter to mate the line connection from the gauges to the pump. Only thing that I don't care for is, the thermostat/remote only goes down to 61 degrees. I normally kept the shop at 45 unless I was out there with the gas heater. There is an "away mode" that drops it down to 46 degrees but, for some reason the fan inside runs all the time on that mode. And I'm not sure how much that would reduce the life of the blower motor. Guess it's to keep air circulating to prevent freezing in far areas of the building.

      @k6outdoors 22 дні тому

      @matopezuta2050 I've been looking at the pioneer units as well impressive what technology done. Take a look at the federal rebate, you should get 30% back!

    • @matopezuta2050
      @matopezuta2050 22 дні тому

      @@k6outdoors Yep, planning on that rebate. Allient has a rebate on them also, but you have to go through an HVAC installer as the rebate is applied only at the wholesale level. What I saved doing it myself without getting that rebate from Alliant by not paying someone to install it. More than paid for the tools I bought to do the install. And, since I bought the tools, I also put a small one in our master bedroom addition that is far enough from the furnace it never got fully heated or cooled. Biggest thing I wasn't figuring in was the time needed for site prep before install. I have vinyl siding on the shop that I had to take down and put up blocking to install the outside unit on the wall so I didn't have to worry about snow buildup and running the conduit since I didn't want to crawl around in the attic full of fiberglass insulation. I had probably a day and a half of site prep before installation and maybe 3 hours of installation time.

    The Kohler Pro yellow filters made in India have metal end caps. I just ordered 6 from Amazon and all of them are made in India. On my Kohler Command I use the Kohler Pro filters, on my Kawasaki engines I use OEM Kawasaki filters as well. Do the same with the oil. Whip City Wrencher does a great job dissecting oil filters. I know many cross reference alternative oil filters for their machines, I choose to use OEM filters and oil. Just my way of doing things. Enjoyed your servicing video. Thanks for sharing. ua-cam.com/video/A8ltnoorwis/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Nn-ahxhMewo/v-deo.html

      Hey I greatly appreciate you stopping in. I tend to try and stick with OEM filters as well, just make life easier. Thanks for the information!

      @houndogharry do you have any insulation in the ceiling? It should definitely heat that space, it's rated to more space. Without insualtion in the attic, expect it to run alot. The unit is 240 volts.

      @@k6outdoors thanks for replying…no insulation in the ceiling…I finished it off with 6 m visqueen. I used my littl lo torpedo at times last year and kept the heat in the pretty well. I even visqueen the 9x7 o.h. Head door on the outside as it faces north.

      I forgot to ask…does anyone make a 110v in a 5000 or 7500 w heater? ( not space heaters )..thanks

      @houndogharry to my knowledge there are not any heaters that size in 120 volts, it's a ton of power demand to run the heater

    Doesn't your power wire need to be in conduit from the heater to the wall, to meet code?

      I got different answers on this and it sounds like it depends on what is code in your area. I was told since I used ROMEX that is didnt need to be but would be ok if I did. At the time of filming is was a not in conduit but I have since put conduit around it (i didnt have any at the time I was wiring it). Thanks for stopping in.
