kakage started off as that one Rosetta fanartist. The moment Rosetta gets a new skin or alternate unit, he’s always the earliest to have a fanart of her.

Usually the tppo-style videos are filled with "amazing tips to draw like this artist" and the tips are just basics like "use varying width for hair pieces".
Like. Yeah. You learn to stop doing that as soon as you stop drawing sasuke/sonic spikes.
But this? Incredibly well done, thank you so much for your expertise and sharing this valuable advice to us.

As someone who's been drawing professionally for 14 years, both for personal projects, small projects, and major production.
I wanna share my own wisdom and say that making popularity and being popular a major foundational goal of yours as an artist can leave you feeling empty and bitter. Ive seen so many artists burn out in the pursuit of social media numbers or clout
I think a moderate or small pursuit of popularity is perfectly healthy, but when you motivate the change in your art style with the pursuit of validation from other people, folks you dont even know.
Youre eventually gonna leave yourself burnt out and feeling lost. Thats just my 2 cents as someone who's been in there for more than a decade

I love your channel ahhhh. Been watching for a while but just wanted to say....Thanks for making videos that feel more targeted towards an intermediate artist. There's so much material for beginners out there, & had been wanting more advanced art tips & wondering why no one makes them. ;w; I was even thinking of making a channel myself once my skill level improves in the future. But your channel is amazing and i've gotten a such good amount of value from it!
I do agree though critique and having an expert mentor is super important! :3 Always have had the humble learner mentality and stuggle with the confident creator one for sure. I've been watching your channel for awhile now as someone who wants to both improve their art (for both personal enjoyment and to get into the animation/art industry) and grow their social media following as a side job, I am SO glad your channel exists as my art style is very much anime/moe-ish but not in the way that I feel like I can confidently post them anymore and been taking in these tips as to improve my art as for a long while I've kinda felt like I was stuck. It doesn't help I'm busy with life as of right now and with some not so desirable issues I have for myself but I've been dying to start up again and get back to art improvement. So these tips have helped me and keep them in the back of my head to remember.

I've improved a lot but I just don't practice enough(if I did I'd get burnt out and never pick up a pencil again). I recently realised that I also was way too much focused on pure technical skills, and not intention. So I tried thinking about it... And nothing came. Hearing you had similar problems and overcomed them is comforting. I do wonder though, if it comes through drawing and not through thinking, but the current drawings are lacking of it, then is it just a matter of patience ?

Oh! No wonder I was wondering if I’ve seen your username before when I started seeing your videos on my UA-cam feed. I would drop by kakage’s morning croquis streams on some occasions back in my breaks during college. I remembered how much he adores Rosetta from Granblue Fantasy, always drawing her so beautifully (and the ways he reacted once her Grand unit got new art for her lvl 100 uncap design 🥰). He made a very cool mini guide & video demo ft. FGO Musashi back then on how to render characters in that game’s older/ iconic grisaille shading style and it’s been cool seeing how he did it so clearly. His morning livestreams back then have been refreshing reminders that you can’t skip practice with drawing if you want to grow, hehe.
Thank you so much for your live translations from back then too! So that explains the theme behind his more recent roasting videos and live streams lol 🤣 It’s been wonderful seeing you improve your illustrations all this time! Keep going, oridays!

I totally agree with all the advice kakage told you about and with the advice you gave in this video. Sure, it might be harsh, but what he said is true.
I've learnt some of these things myself over the years, although i don't draw that often, i do other things instead, like design and apply those things there, and gradually, i got better.
My eyes got better at spotting things too, and instead of trusting my intuition, i always analyzed what i made so i could see my mistakes and what i could do to fix them and improve.
These advices can really help both inexperienced and experienced artists and people doing other things as well. It trully works, however it won't just happen in a flash, it takes time so work on it, continue to do it and you'll get better, plus you'll also increase the amount of things you can do.
Great video Ori, thank you. It'll help many. I'm absolutely sure of that

This video just completely blew my mind at 4:00 am. I didn't think much at first because while I love anime-esque art, my drawing skills are basically non-existent...
I watched the video anyway and, thought it was fine, and then remembered my freaking day job is an autocad technician... I draw layouts for homes, sidewalks, all that stuff for a living, and some of the advice about improvement and practice SERIOUSLY resonate with me! Wonderful video ❤

you just hit right on the point, what do i want to express with this drawing? i feel that many artists including myself forget what we wanted to express in the first place, thank you for remembering something that i forgot a long time ago and that, exaggerated as it sounds has just made my path in the art of drawing have a clearer direction. it won't solve all the problems but it is certainly a mind changer. i will be sure to come back to this video if i ever forget why i started in the first place.

2:20 Look, ma! I'm on TV! I have to say I certainly wasn't expecting that to happen, but it is nice to know that you are in fact the same Oridays as back then. Doesn't feel like it's been a couple of years, but I honestly wouldn't have gotten as far in art as I did without Kakage sensei's Morning Croquis and critiques. I don't have the time to watch him like I used to but I still lurk a stream here and there when I get the chance. God speed, Oridays!

I've been thinking about getting into the art space for a solid year now. The reason i haven't actually gotten started with earning is because I find the learning curve overwhelming, and also a lack of confidence 😅
After seeing this video, thinking back on your 3-year-journey of getting battered with feedback has made me realise that, although it still is quite overwhelming, the road is never easy.
I have had a small drawing tablet laying around for a couple of years now, and I'll definitely try and spend my hours after college & part-time work on my untouched interest! Your content is amazing, inspiring, educational and I will be looking forward to what you will create next!!

thank you for this video! I also realized one of my art lecturer probably learnt from kakage sensei before as well, as he gave me the same advice like the eye looking at the camera, and also telling me I should look at kakage's work and try to learn from them
overall this video was helpful, thx =w=)7

I've always wished to get help from someone because I've been searching for a long time and almost lost motivation. But you made me do things 10 times better in a day. I wish I had you as a friend, haha, so you could coach me.

You truelly deserve the title for art sensei, keep going the amazing work ❤

my favorite part in art is guessing what artist wanted to say or show, the story or just a moment of that story

I've been drawing for 10 years and was not satisfied (like my art wasn't good enough if you know what I mean?) with my art this gave me the confidence I've lacked for SO LONG. Thank you for this video. ❤️

I use to wake up early every-day, lay on my bed, and tune into his livestream whilst drawing, i've almost been drawing for a decade now and for a few years of that time i've watched his livestreams. I still remember the first time i tuned into his livestream and my art wasn't very good, but compared to now my art now it has grown incredibly! Its been around 2 years since i last tuned into a stream of his but im glad this video got recommended to me, i'll probably watch his next live. I use to love when he'd say "very very PRETTY smile!" LOL
