(2024.6) UPDATE: Since a lot of people requested it I made the hair coloring tutorial! You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/Tdv5qtnarlo/v-deo.html --------- Thanks for watching and I hope these tips can help out! Drawing hair is hard for real, so don't worry if you're struggling to get it at the start - that's perfectly normal. The important thing is to keep on practicing 💪
actively crying cause im so frustrated. some drawings i can do well and others look like they werent even drawn by me, my art is so inconsistent and hair is just one of those things i constantly struggle with. shading, hair, hands, feet..... i just wanna tear my notebook apart
The pictures and videos you see are from artists who have spent years practicing and hours on that specific piece. Thats years of bad drawings, art classes, sometimes art school, and studying fundamentals. You have the whole rest of your life to be able to learn don’t stress that wont make you a better artist.
Thank you this helps a lot because for me I would focus on “THIS HAS TO BE PERFECT I HAVE TO MAKE THIS PERFECT” or “My drawing sucks I have to make it better” but after this video I learned that mostly caused stress on me just like when I was younger I would tell my mom “my drawings look better when I’m drawing because I’m bored but when I actually am trying and wanna draw it looks bad” and I honestly really struggle with hair so thank you ❤
4:20 this actually has an official term for it! They are called "tangents", where you can either have a tangent where two lines meet wrong, or patterns are repeating unnaturally, distracting the eyes
7:16 you are such a great teacher. That demonstration at the end really drove everything home for me. Gonna split up the head in one of my sketches now so that I can retain this info by doing
I love your tutorials! Other artists have the same tips, but their style is realistic, so I didn't really understand how to apply them to my art. Watching you reference anatomy for your anime-style drawings helps a lot :p
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Everyone who tried to teach me kinda said I was hopeless with my art and I agreed with them but this video made me feel like I could do something :))
Coloring tutorial would be amazing! Coloring is the one thing I struggle with the most, I just can't seem to pick out a good color (either comes out too dark or light so I try using the tonal correction to help in s lot of my decisions)
Thank you for this hair tutorial! I have always wanted to draw hair in style similar to yours and anime illustrations, but most times I feel they come out flat and more cartoonish. I'll give these methods a shot next time I draw and see how it goes!
Damn, this was the best tutorial i've ever seen about hair. I mean, i watched literally dozens of videos of hair and couldn't get it done, untill now. THANKS!
I have pretty bad anxiety when it comes to many things & that includes my drawings. I've been trying to improve my art (by actually finishing it) but there are so many steps I'm trying to do at once that I haven't actually harnessed enough to do, so trying to do a bunch of things I *cant* all at once has been burning me out. I took a couple days to get away from this overwhelming feeling, since my skills with art mean A LOT to me. But the 2 MAIN things I've been struggling with lately are drawing hair, & clothes properly so that it can match my ability to draw bodies/anatomy (which in the long run still need work too since I've always done sketches & never complete artwork.) I have a lot to actually get through before getting to the starting point I wanna be at, & finding videos like these that REALLY break everything down helps out a lot. So I'd just like to say thank you for posting this for people to watch, & thank you for soothing my anxiety & doubts I have against my art skills 🥲🥲
I've been wanting to get better at adding detail in my art, and this is gonna be a major help! Simple to understand, easy to remember tricks, awesome tutorial!
i'd been waiting for an upload !! thanks so much for the video !!! ありがちうございます!!! edit: please do upload a coloring video!! it'd make me veery happy!! thanks again for the video!!
The amounts of time I give up because drawing hair are ridiculous even though i watch tons of tutorial nom of them help but this, this is very helpful because the way you explain is very great and so many information so Thank You
my personal hair drawing method is just... i know what the hair looks like in the various areas, so i add on lines for hair there until it looks good. i use lots of sketchy lines until its the right shape and length and then i can erase what was unnecessary and boom, now i can either colour it or do lineart over top. my workflow/order seems quite different to yours, (particularly how polished your final products are... i usually just erase and redraw the sketch over and over until it looks nice) but the tip on avoiding grass was a really helpful explanation putting into words all of the trial and error i get with redrawing longer stretches of hair ends. most of my art growth has just come from trial and error over the years and your videos are really helpful in having a more concrete concept of the things ive taught myself and the things ive been struggling with.
Thanx a lot for this video! I can finally improve the quality of the hair I draw. It will be gradual and I'll need to come back often but it's already helpful to stepping it up
Yup coloring tutorial would be really helpful. I think the tip about AO really was what I was looking for. I could never get my hair to look like it was actually look like it was a part of the character
thank you for sharing your tips! I especially love the ‘level up drawing system’ one. 💛 I think of that as like, start simple then get complex later. but yours is more easy-to-remember! I’d love to see you make a tutorial on colouring hair.
5:35 Twisting and turning your feelings are burning You're breaking the giiiiiirl! (Shee meaaant youu nooo haaarm) Think you're so clever but now you most sever You're breaking the giiiiirl! (Heeee looooves noooo oooneee else)
Ah! I just found your channel!! It's pure gold!! Thank you so much! hope you make the coloring one i don't know why it's so difficult if looks easy ToT
Came for the hair tips, stayed for the hair tips and the based Lappy art 😌🙏🏻 I've been trying to draw a bit for some character designs in a game I'd like to make, so I'll definitely be putting this video to good use! Thanks a bunch
I would consider myself quite advanced at drawing, however my style is very rough. I have drawn hair many many times but this is the first time I've thought about drawing hair like ribbons, great stuff! Still need to get better at drawing smooth lines though haha.
Hi Oridays, I've been lurking on your account for a while now, watching your videos and writing down the things i find useful. I'm Autistic and having much trouble with understanding regular conversation structures, which makes it hard for me to follow most of the tutorials out there. There's mostly too many questions in my head building up which distract me from the actual topic. But with your videos its like, you describe something, I have a question to it, you explain why something, another question I have, and then you show how exactly you did it and how to use the tips. Which is basically everything I needed tutorial guys to do, lmao. I found it important to tell you this, whether you'll read it or not. Thanks a lot, anyway.
Never call art crappy 😂say you are part of my practice thank you ☺️ for being part my journey that may learn and grow I created you and I will improve so that I may make more beautiful art
I've now watched 2 videos from you. I applied your 1,2,3 shading method and improved so much in just 2 days of practice, now I'm going to start another drawing with your lineart tips for hair incorporated in it, while working on the shading once again. You make things so much easier to work through for someone going from traditional art to digital. Some of these tips I wouldn't know to add naturally to digital, when I just naturally do it on paper. Thank so you!
Was like let's watch another turorial that gives zero insight but, I heard Oridays voice and was like NOPE it's gonna be a banger. Lol Didn't even notice the name until the voice😂 Holy crap
Thank you so much!!! ❤ your tutorials are amazing 😇 I'm a new subscriber and I just don't understand why I didn't find your channel earlier 👀 anyways, thank you so much for these tutorials , you teach all those tips that many artists don't reveal. People like me who can't afford to pay to learn from patreon , this is really helpful 😭❤ PS : we'd definitely like a hair coloring tutorial
No cap bro tbh, I really love your channel, I just got into it and one thing I love is that you just get straight to the point and you actually explain it and it’s actually entertaining! Bro thank you you are doing Gods work! Blessing the community!
this is so helpful omg T___T ive always struggled w drawing hair, thank u for giving actual tips !!! (instead of just saying to visualize hair like bananas lmao)
(2024.6) UPDATE: Since a lot of people requested it I made the hair coloring tutorial!

Thanks for watching and I hope these tips can help out!
Drawing hair is hard for real, so don't worry if you're struggling to get it at the start - that's perfectly normal.
The important thing is to keep on practicing 💪
Can you do something that's sketch friendly? Like for people that draw on a sketch book, not like a tablet or something, please?
thank you very much!
Thanks man! Now i need to learn how to put it on paper
um is it possible to draw like you with a mouse or do you use a special tool like a pen?
PLEASE. I'd love to see a coloring tutorial
uppp
yesssss pleease do
^
Yes please!!
i want too!!
actively crying cause im so frustrated. some drawings i can do well and others look like they werent even drawn by me, my art is so inconsistent and hair is just one of those things i constantly struggle with. shading, hair, hands, feet..... i just wanna tear my notebook apart
Practice won't give you up, I believe in you!
True. As a new digital artist after enough time I can make the entire character look good.
And then comes the shading and coloring.
The pictures and videos you see are from artists who have spent years practicing and hours on that specific piece. Thats years of bad drawings, art classes, sometimes art school, and studying fundamentals. You have the whole rest of your life to be able to learn don’t stress that wont make you a better artist.
same, but all my drawings looks like they're made by a 10 year old even if i pass hours making it.
ran out of juice.
Thank you this helps a lot because for me I would focus on “THIS HAS TO BE PERFECT I HAVE TO MAKE THIS PERFECT” or “My drawing sucks I have to make it better” but after this video I learned that mostly caused stress on me just like when I was younger I would tell my mom “my drawings look better when I’m drawing because I’m bored but when I actually am trying and wanna draw it looks bad” and I honestly really struggle with hair so thank you ❤
O. M. G.
I WAS SO STRESSED OUT DRAWING HAIR BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE AN IMAGE ON THE HEAD, BUT THIS LITERALLY HELPED SO MUCH
GOD BLESS YOU❤️
Layers. I'm so envious of digital artists.
Dude idk how your videos are free! The leveling up mindset 2:11 is absolute genius!!
I did a free trial on skillshare (overpriced) and these tutorials are much better
4:20 this actually has an official term for it! They are called "tangents", where you can either have a tangent where two lines meet wrong, or patterns are repeating unnaturally, distracting the eyes
0:37 gave her a fade 💯
Imagine if Oridays got a low taper fade 💇🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
7:16 you are such a great teacher. That demonstration at the end really drove everything home for me. Gonna split up the head in one of my sketches now so that I can retain this info by doing

Your advice is some of the best and most genuine advice I've seen! This is super helpful thank you!!

As a person who is new to art and just got a drawing tablet, I would like to say thank you. This is going to help me a lot in the years to come.
