    You couldn't "just leave the HRE". You were either annexed by foreign powers or somehow fought your way out. It was not a voluntary union.

    its interesting to know that these countries exist because the hre was too decetralized to unite them

      doesn't mean it couldn't have happened afterwards. Nationalism was strong in the 19th century

    We were just talking about these two countries during our game night this week. Apparently they didn't survive into the Rifts TTRPG timeline.

    At the end WWII there was great concern about how to prevent Germany from ever being a aggressor nation ever again. So why didn't the allies revive the HRE?

    • @Saddam_al-Husseini
      @Saddam_al-Husseini 9 днів тому

      The idea was to not punish Germany in the same way as the Treaty of Versailles and instead to make a strong German state friendly to the Allies. This is why the Marshall Plan was used instead to build up the West German economy. Re-installing the HRE would have been quite a punishment as you can see from this video! 😂😂😂

    You didn't elect the emperor but the king as is clearly stated in the Golden Bull. The title of emperor was either given by the pope (during the middle ages) or just assumed after the royal coronation (in the early modern age)

    • @Schwachsinnn
      @Schwachsinnn Рік тому +5

      Technically you are right, but let’s be honest they elected the Kaiser, as it was almost automatic that the new leader of HRE will be crowned Kaiser by the pope.

    • @Siegbert85
      @Siegbert85 Рік тому

      @@Schwachsinnn Well, nobody else could be crowned emperor but it's all but certain that he would be.
      During the medieval period there was rarely a king that was entirely undisputed within the German realm and even if he was there often were decisive differences between him and the papacy. I don't know how many kings got excommunicated by the pope over the years...
      The Golden Bull put an end to much of those struggles

      If you mean the one at the start, yes it's a real one. I agree, the style looks similar to EU4 but this map has a lot more detail than the borders in the game. It's the best medieval map I've come across. Here's the full HD version in case you want to check it out: www.visualcapitalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/medieval-map-of-europe-in-1444.html
