Z-one's goal always seemed the most clear. Destroy the past in order to save the future. 5ds always had the most complete plot because of this in my opinion.
You could argue that Z-ONE is not only the final boss of 5D’s but he is also the final boss of the first three series since his actions inspired Paradox to go back in time.
Z-one is the perfect example of what would happen if any of the Yugioh protagonists failed to defeat their respective endgame adversaries. He set out to save people and the world, but failed and fell into hopelessness and depression resulting in his cold, detached madness. You know what they say: "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." That encapsulates Z-one perfectly.
I've always thought Zone would have been better if he had actually been Yusei from the future, it would have made the reveal of his eye and Mark that much more chilling.
True but It’s also makes it more sad that zone was a lonely researcher who revered yusei so much he did everything he could to become but in the end he couldn’t become the hero people needed
Kuro Visuals it would I have been even cooler if he was yusei’s father. He could have been seen into the future and saw the destruction and he had to reluctantly defeat his son.
honestly i think this is pretty chilling a man so desperate to save his time he gave up who he was both mind and body to save people but at the end he failed so in way he was yusei but also not
He pretty much one of the most underrated villains in Yu-Gi-Oh! His goals and ambitions were very interesting and it refreshing to see a villain *NOT* trying to rule the world but change history for benefit of mankind. He in a way was kinda similar to Dr. Doom's motivation. His moral philosophy was also complex as he wasn't really bad person but trying to be hero to save his own race. I feel people misunderstand his character by stating he was a psychopath when in reality he wasn't. Z-One had no choice but to sacrifice New Domino City to save the world. "The ends justify the means" in which morally wrong actions are sometimes necessary to achieve morally right outcomes. The entire reason why Z-One copy Yusei's appearance, personality, and skills was to be the symbol of "Hope" to the last remain people of Earth. But even with Yusei data it wasn't enough. In the end, Z-One saw all of his best friend die of old age and he was the only one left to stop the apocalypse. I think people forget that villains aren't about being evil or such but to be a obstacle to the protagonist. The duel between Z-One was to show that humanity will is strong enough to change the outcome of fate and Yusei was the embodiment of that 'hope." Z-One deck also show a interesting perspective as they represent the divine angels of the hierarchy. He also kinda represent a messiah figure as he too was mankind last savior. It really sad since Z-One was actually a tragic character. All he wanted was to save everyone but he wasn't destined to be the one. What made Z-One such a great villain was that he too was a hypocrite to his own ideal, even though he wish to save humanity, he gave up what made him human in the first place by creating a cyborg body and doing anything necessary to accomplish his own ambition even going so far of destroying his old friend that he created. This was the very downfall of Z-One as time goes by he started losing fate to humanity but Yusei at the end show him a greater future. The Bonds Beyond Time movie even show how much he desperately struggle to change fate by destroying the card game itself. One of the most important thing about writing a villain is to let the audience get a understanding where these characters are coming from and I think Z-One did great job in achieving that. Z-One in my personal opinion would be the 2nd best villains in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise next to other great villains such as Yubel and Vector. I truly believe people underestimate the anime just because the show is about marketing children's trading card game doesn't mean it can't tell good stories and interesting characters. I recommend any Yu-Gi-Oh! fan to check up 5D's at least once because I think the Time-Travel Arc was one of the best stories that Yu-Gi-Oh! has to offer.
Z-one not being yusei is also a callback to yami/atem, who looked like yugi but was not yugi with yugi teaching yami how to move on while yusei teaches z-one how to hope for a better tomorrow
I think it really worked with Z-ONE not actually being Yusei. Z-One's whole point in becoming Yusei was that even with Yusei's power in the future, he still failed and everyone still died, his point being that even if Yusei was there he couldn't have done anything. And Yusei proves this wrong by breaking his limits with his Over Top Clear Mind, proving to Z-ONE once and for all that the future could be trusted to him. This clash of ideologies works much better between two different individuals, rather than making a "fallen" future version of Yusei that wanted to and had given up on the future.
This is kinda glorifying Yusei that he's the most perfect and he's inherently better than anyone and he's the only one who can or such. Which is already something criticized about him being too perfect.
The thing about Z-one and his attempt to save the world is that in seeking to be like Yusei to save the world; he forgot that Yusei didn't save the world by himself. He always had his friends' support; whether directly in a handicap duel, or indirectly through the bond they all shared through the marks of the Crimson Dragon. I don't know if he would have had enough time to save the world if he had somehow replicated the whole Team 5d's, but it would have increased his chances. All the same; what Z-one did was commendable in every sense of the word; even if it didn't work in the end. As I learned more about who Z-one is, I came to believe that while Z-one was preaching that there was no hope, he must have deep down desired so very much for someone to come along and prove him wrong.
zone is the ultimate meat rider. he took on Yusei’s appearance, modeled his personality after yusei, and when he took on yusei’s appearance, he used yusei’s monsters
Personally Zone actually being Yusei probably would have been better, but it still probably would have ended the same way with Yusei's "Past self" reinvigorating the hope of his "Future self" if that was the case
Would have been too cliche, if Yusei turned out as a "fallen hero". Besides, Yusei would never do things Zone did. I like how Zone wasn't some supernatural bad guy trying to take over the world, but just a normal human being trying to change the greed in peoples hearts

Zone and his legion of androids have always been some of the best antagonists in YuGiOh and honestly the Japanese version of 5Ds is one of the best in the series. It’s sad 4Kids butchered not just the ending but the entire series.
Thank you so much for making a video on my all time favorite character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. I love Z-ONE's backstory, Timelord deck and aesthetic so much ever since he debuted, and although some fans feel that his reveal as "future Yusei" was botched, I still love everything about him nonetheless. Thank you so much for such an awesome video and keep up the good work!

Yugioh keeps hinting at a apocalyptic future, i hope they one day show us the true apocalypse they been hinting at. Gx did 5ds did Zexal kinda did Vrains did C'mon now konami.
For your next Zexal character profile, I think that either Bronc or Mr.Kay(Crashbug dualist) would be an interesting episode, and have a happy New Year!
It should be noted that "Sephiron" isn't Ein Sof/Keter but Da'at which makes sense as he is the one that can summon all the timelords, from Da'at, one can access all spheres of the tree

My first 5 duels against him...I lost. Once I figured out how to banish those cards and use Crackdown...and negate his cards effects...I won every time using Jinzo, Cyber energy shock, and psychic blade. There's an event with him in duel links right now...his deck sucks..easy wins. Mainly why I searched for this video...I wanted to know which series he was in.
I have so many questions? 1) Origin of iliaster? 2) Was Zone the one who started the iliaster in Yusei's time? 3) Did iliaster exist in ancient time or not? 4) Was Zone the reason Zero Reverse Started in Yusei's past? 5) Would Yusei able to perform Accel Synchro even without Zone's assistance? 6) How would everything would be if Zone didn't travel or sent anything to the past in the first place? 7) Is Zone the reason of the events in Season 1 of 5ds? 8) How Yusei was a hero in Zone's past right before Zone started the past alteration?
1)It was created since ancient times and orchestrated the events of humanity in shadows 2)Yes 3)Yes 4)In the first timeline the Zero Reverse didn’t happen because of Z-One but after Z-One time travelled and created Iliaster,it happened because of him 5)Yes 6)The second and third season would not happen and the in the future, humanity will be erased 7)Yes,kind of as I explained it before 8)Because Zero Reverse in the first timeline happened not because of Z-One and Yusei fought the Dark Signers just like he did in the timeline Z-One manipulated
@@kingofgamez_9695 Roman Goodwin started it because he wanted to be a Dark Signer. In the second timeline,Z-One ordered him to destroy the Ener-D in hopes that it will never be used again but after destroying it,the Earthbound Immortals were released and history was repeated.
@@z-onealdo6131 ok let’s say zero verse started with godwin, yusei 17 years after that would challenge the dark signers and ultimately defeat them, was there a wrgp in the orginal timeline did crash town happen plus what happened to team unicorn?
So there was enough resources to build all that stuff for them in the future and they survived thru the apocalypse for a very long time and yet they decided the best way to destory neo domino city was to drop the destroyed future neo domino city on top of it.......
+TheKpa11 they survived yes but with only few people still living with not really hope left in the future for human survival, probably their base was constructed before they got old while people still being killed by the meklords....
It was a little More complicarse than that, the plan was to make the negative Arc reactor from the Arc cradle to Collide with the positive Arc reactor within neo dominó city, which in turn would create a massive reaction that would wipe both of them from existence
i was thinking your comment about z for omega and one as alpha. maybe it's not alpha omega for being a "god" but since the z is first. it's Omega Alpha. the end returining to the beginng symbolic of him at the end going back to where it all started it fall apart to attempt to fix it
Their yusei went on to team up with Aki and Hunter Pace of all people, in the WRGP alternative the Pegasus Memorial cup. He also went on to invent the delta accel synchro technique that Bruno uses with his cosmic blazar dragon.
Anyone else really wanted to see what the realm of the Meklord Emperors were like and why the hell Z-One and his crew would want to use them in their deck
I just took it as Aporia knew that they're the most fitting monsters to fight Synchro Monsters, and in a way he wanted people to taste the despair that he felt. It just shows that he's an extremist but at the same time actually wanted to be understood by people.
honestly i like the z-one wasn't yusei and was more chilling think about man that was so desperate to save everyone he gave up both body and mind to become somwon else to point your them and you died
Z-one just entered duel links and when he wins against Yusei he says: "Yusei, I am you in the future, so I know your every strategy". This couls mean Z-one is in fact Yusei
Now… it’s important to note, Z-One researched ALL about yusei, to be his mental doppelgänger, he even achieved Clear Mind and had surgery. He’s literally just a programmed person who was made into a copy of somebody else but now him from the future
@tgsanime and others who really liked 5Ds, i made an amv to to these future flash backs. Im very proud of how it came out and would like to share it. Let me know if interested. Also awesome vid
@@mouhamedali6587 lol hell no. Dartz is by far one of the weakest. Just take a look at his ace Monster. A giant serpent with infinity ATK that is super hard to summon and which in top of that have NO immunity to effects. Just negate its effects, bounce it from the field or destroy it and you automatically win. As for Darkness, a simple MST or anything like that ruins his entire gameplay. Their methods to get rid of the opponent's Monsters are both by battle or card destruction, which Z-one is immune to. Z-one's timelords basically have boucing, burn effects or even both to which both of them cannot resist to and let's not imagine the trouble they will have once Sephylon touches the field (which in fact has no restriction on being Normal Summoned). Sorry but you have to be retarded to think that Dartz and Darkness and stronger than Z-one
@@mouhamedali6587 i say it fairly depends. Zarc can stall with two darkwurms on the field to prevent z-one's attacks but then again they can't do shit against the timelords. His only chance to beat the timelords is with SKD Clear Wing or Starve Venom but we only saw him summon them when his opponent Synchro or Fusion Summon (both being things that Z-one don't do) or with Supreme King Rage (and that's if considering he survives a turn where he takes 2000 pponts of damage against Z-one). Zarc's ace Monster cannot beat a single Timelord however Sephylon beats SKD Zarc considering he negates the effects of the Monster it battles. Zarc also has Supreme King Brutality but Z-one can counter it with Infinite Light to stop the Timelord from leaving the field so that his empty hand doesn't become a problem. We also only saw 20 cards in Z-one's Deck and only 12 cards in Zarc's Deck and I would have liked to see more cards of them. I say it depends but I still think Z-one has the advantage in this match-up
Yusei invented the technique and later perfected it with the delta accel synchro monster, cosmic blazar dragon. This is basically what happened: Yusei from the original future invents the clear mind technique, Antinomy who was a fan of Yusei 200 years later follows in his footsteps as we see him as a riding duel champion in Z-ones future. Z-one also learns the technique because he becomes the original yusei fudo through his experiments, they then go back in time and teach the yusei from the new timeline (ours) the technique he himself invented. Tldr: Original Yusei > Antinomy & Z-one > our Yusei
wow wow wow wow wow - there is a timelord archetype with eleven members, being part of an arc about time travelling and it's not a Doctor Who reference....? That kinda offense me.
If he didn't enter Yusei time-line. Then 200 years later the Meklord Emperor Genocide will take place and wipe out every single living thing on earth once and for all.
So are we ever actually going to see this future happen in any of the Yugioh series that came after 5Ds? I remember Nightshroud telling and showing Jaden this future at the end of GX, and since every new Yugioh comes out taking place further into the future with each series shouldn’t we have seen this apocalyptic future by now?
There's implications that ZeXaL, ARC-V, and Vrains were the futures Nightshroud spoke off if you don't want to believe ZeXaL, ARC-V, and VRAINS are alternate timelines, like Vrains was originally gonna end with all of Humanity destroyed and Yusaku dead. Nightshroud even said the universe was created by a single card and guess what ZeXaL revealed that card was the Numeron Dragon.
In Duel Links, where some of the spin-off shows got to continue their stories, Trey from Zexal mentioned how he hadn’t heard of KaibaCorp. Yeah, this means Zexal, and by extension, ARC-V, VrAiNs, and the Rush Duel series (SEVENS & GO RUSH) take place in their own universes.
He was just trying to save us from Link Monsters.

Dartz vs darkness vs zone vs don thousand vs zarc
That would be the best duel ever
A new video for a new future
Very poetic :p
+TGS Anime happy new year.
Yugioh keeps hinting at a apocalyptic future, i hope they one day show us the true apocalypse they been hinting at.
Gx did
5ds did
Zexal kinda did
Vrains did
C'mon now konami.
Hell VRAINS was gonna end with an apocalyptic future
Man he's one scary cyborg
Maybe zone is really a animated version of rod sterling's brain in a cyborg kid body from ironically the twiglight zone = z-one!
Z-ONE is the 5ds version of dmitri
Tyler Pax He's a copycat duelist?
Except he has his own Deck : Timelords
For your next Zexal character profile, I think that either Bronc or Mr.Kay(Crashbug dualist) would be an interesting episode, and have a happy New Year!
Go and see the duel links update, they uncovered many new things about him
Including that he has voice lines for stardust dragon and other yusei cards
Him and Dr. Fudo would have made a good team
awesome look forward to seeing it and one before it
I don't know I think it would have been better if Zone was Yusei's descendent. Like a grandson.
More like great great grandson
What if , in his anger and despair, Zone Created the Timelords, In which Where if there were any Meklirds left, he unleashed the lords on them.
It should be noted that "Sephiron" isn't Ein Sof/Keter but Da'at which makes sense as he is the one that can summon all the timelords, from Da'at, one can access all spheres of the tree
Musta been freaky to see yourself like this.
Anyone else notice how ZONE looks like Timestar Magician?
I feel like you have great potential to be a great UA-camr keep up the great work dude.
Thankyou, that means a lot!
You are right, someone from 7 years ago
yup guess i was @@Tambuburay888
I feel like this would have been great to end of the dub version off Yugioh 5Ds with proper closure.
I think it would’ve been interesting if Z-One was actually reveled to be Yugi. Or Yuseis father.
This anime stays always in my heart
I'm trying to remember, what episode does the zero reverse happen?
Happens before episode 1 doesn't it? Happens in the backstory?
"I shall anhillate you from this existence...MY TURN..."I sacrifice Empty Machine to activate Infinite Machine...my Time lords will Never leave my side" again....hmhmhmhahaha!" My first 5 duels against him...I lost. Once I figured out how to banish those cards and use Crackdown...and negate his cards effects...I won every time using Jinzo, Cyber energy shock, and psychic blade. There's an event with him in duel links right now...his deck sucks..easy wins. Mainly why I searched for this video...I wanted to know which series he was in.
you can counter his deck easily if you know you are going to duel him, but in pvp duels it's something else
I think it would've been better if Z-ONE was actually Yusei from the future rather than someone who took on Yusei's identity.
No it wouldn't
1)It was created since ancient times and orchestrated the events of humanity in shadows
2)Yes
3)Yes
4)In the first timeline the Zero Reverse didn’t happen because of Z-One but after Z-One time travelled and created Iliaster,it happened because of him
5)Yes
6)The second and third season would not happen and the in the future, humanity will be erased
7)Yes,kind of as I explained it before
8)Because Zero Reverse in the first timeline happened not because of Z-One and Yusei fought the Dark Signers just like he did in the timeline Z-One manipulated
@@z-onealdo6131 then who started zero verse in the orginal timeline?
@@kingofgamez_9695 Roman Goodwin started it because he wanted to be a Dark Signer. In the second timeline,Z-One ordered him to destroy the Ener-D in hopes that it will never be used again but after destroying it,the Earthbound Immortals were released and history was repeated.
@@z-onealdo6131 ok let’s say zero verse started with godwin, yusei 17 years after that would challenge the dark signers and ultimately defeat them, was there a wrgp in the orginal timeline did crash town happen plus what happened to team unicorn?
@@kingofgamez_9695 there wasn’t any WRGP or maybe there was but it wasn’t made by the Three Emperors of Iliaster to bring the Arc Cradle
Was this arc ever dubbed
So there was enough resources to build all that stuff for them in the future and they survived thru the apocalypse for a very long time and yet they decided the best way to destory neo domino city was to drop the destroyed future neo domino city on top of it.......
Lol you make fair point XD
+TheKpa11 they survived yes but with only few people still living with not really hope left in the future for human survival, probably their base was constructed before they got old while people still being killed by the meklords....
It was a little More complicarse than that, the plan was to make the negative Arc reactor from the Arc cradle to Collide with the positive Arc reactor within neo dominó city, which in turn would create a massive reaction that would wipe both of them from existence
To bad Ark Cradle (Divine Temple) arc was never dubbed. I feel like Neil Kaplan would have nailed the character of Z-one in the final battles.
2:19 Where can I find that image?
If you type in Yu-Gi-Oh 5DS Zone you find that picture on Google
Zone’s English name in season 2 is the eye
But still ZONE
I like it but still
Me too
i was thinking your comment about z for omega and one as alpha. maybe it's not alpha omega for being a "god" but since the z is first. it's Omega Alpha. the end returining to the beginng symbolic of him at the end going back to where it all started it fall apart to attempt to fix it
Nice theory
Wait. So if Yusei won against the dark Signers in zone's timeline, what happen to our Yusei?
He eventually died and was probably long dead by the time Z-one was born.
@@robertisham5279 ah
ZONE and Yusei are both similar and if not the same possibly
it be cool in Z-one was yusei confirmed decendant
Fun fact about ZONE (Z-one): he kinda looks identical to yusei, only a few years older
You don't say
Z-one just entered duel links and when he wins against Yusei he says: "Yusei, I am you in the future, so I know your every strategy". This couls mean Z-one is in fact Yusei
Now… it’s important to note, Z-One researched ALL about yusei, to be his mental doppelgänger, he even achieved Clear Mind and had surgery.
He’s literally just a programmed person who was made into a copy of somebody else but now him from the future
That line was probably just something he used in order to break Yusei’s spirit, by taking advantage of his altered face.
Damn. So epic
I didn’t really have an opinion on him back when the show was airing but he’s grown on me in the past decade.
I know its a late comment but what is the music you use in the backstory? I really like it. Also love your videos.
Nujabes - Aruarian dance
I vote he should remaster this video.
Now, if Z-One wanted to be like Yusei, the voice would have been the same as his and not a different one
Reading off of Wikipedia
@tgsanime and others who really liked 5Ds, i made an amv to to these future flash backs. Im very proud of how it came out and would like to share it. Let me know if interested. Also awesome vid
Ok,so we have zone which looks like yusei (or maybe he is) so i got a question
Is paradox jack atlas?
Both no.
0:08
Zone looks cute in that model to be honest..
Hey @TGS Anime *Theory Time: Yusei´s father is Z-one.*
KirukatoSenpaiOffiical could be but I think both his parents died while he was a baby
Z-one aka : the strongest final boss in Yu-Gi-Oh series
Nope darkeness and dartz are way stronger
@@revolverkyosuke7049 what about zarc do you think he have a chance
I say it depends but I still think Z-one has the advantage in this match-up
@@revolverkyosuke7049 so who do you think can deafet him exepte yusei of course
From the sounds of it at first, he was trying to do good
it would be nice if you credited the fanarts you used in these video's
Yu-Gi-Oh jesus
Mizar from Yugioh Zexal
Fun fact zone never got a English dub
No his voiced by Marc Thompson and if you have watched episode 135 of 5ds English dub you will know his voice cuz I have watched it
how tf he getting shooting star without antinomy telling him accel synchro ??????
He probably discovered it on his own.
He himself represent the card sherry had.
wow wow wow wow wow - there is a timelord archetype with eleven members, being part of an arc about time travelling and it's not a Doctor Who reference....? That kinda offense me.
+Bia Zarr overused reference lol
Bia Zarr well the original name of the archetype is Temporal Machine Angels.
Bia Zarr i know right
Where can I watch it
If he didn't enter Yusei time-line. Then 200 years later the Meklord Emperor Genocide will take place and wipe out every single living thing on earth once and for all.
They should’ve dubbed season 3
Amen it's criminal that they didn't
nah the dub is shit theyd have ruined it
What is the song in the backstory
So are we ever actually going to see this future happen in any of the Yugioh series that came after 5Ds? I remember Nightshroud telling and showing Jaden this future at the end of GX, and since every new Yugioh comes out taking place further into the future with each series shouldn’t we have seen this apocalyptic future by now?
I think the duel monsters gx and 5ds all take place within the same universe, zexal going forward is either alternate timelines or universes
I am Z one Z one
Z-one:
Cannot save the world
And cannot destroy the world
😂
