Yugi's Dimension Trap Loop against Aigami is my personal favorite since it not only makes use of the cards involved in the loop, but also the rules of the duel mode itself to prevent lethal battle damage.
I love the dimension traps so much despite them not being very good and I hope they get retrained and added to the Shining Sarcophagus deck!

Honestly, Yami Yugi VS String’s spot is deserved. Back when I was a kid watching, seeing Yami Yugi who’s always so confident , give into fear and hopelessness facing against God really settled in the same feeling, only to make a miracle turnaround of the situation with the first automated loop in the series was hella satisfying!

Their is one other loop in 5ds this during episode 95 Crow vs Bolton. During Crow turn (this turn 10 the last turn and this from the wiki) :
Crow draws. During the Standby Phase, the effect of "Speed World 2" activates (Bolton's SPC: 8 → 9; Crow's SPC: 1 → 2). Crow then Normal Summons "Blackwing - Bora the Spear" in Attack Position. He then tunes "Blackwing - Bora the Spear" with "Blackwing - Kochi the Daybreak" in order to Synchro Summon "Black-Winged Dragon"in Attack Position. Since Crow summoned a Synchro Monster, Bolton activates his face-down "Synchro Rivalry". Now monsters can't be destroyed by battle this turn. Crow activates "Speed Spell - Angel Baton" to draw two cards ("Blackwing Anchor" and "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite") and send "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" from his hand to the Graveyard.
    "The loop begin here"
Crow then Sets "Blackwing Anchor" ("Delta Crow - Anti Reverse" in the dub). This activates the effect of "Crimson Mefist", but the effect of "Black-Winged Dragon" applies in response, reducing the damage Crow would take to 0 and decreasing its own ATK by the damage nullified ("Black-Winged Dragon": 2800 → 2500 ATK). Crow then activates the effect of "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" to return "Blackwing Anchor" to his hand and Special Summon "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" from the Graveyard in Attack Position and take 400 damage. The effect of "Black-Winged Dragon" then applies in response ("Black-Winged Dragon": 2500 → 2100 ATK). Crow Sets "Blackwing Anchor", which destroys "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" due to its second effect and starts the loop all over again starting with the second effect of "Crimson Mefist". Crow continues the strategy loop over and over until the ATK of "Black-Winged Dragon" becomes 0 ("Black-Winged Dragon": 2100 → 1800 → 1400 → 1100 → 700 → 400 → 0 ATK).
Crow then activates the second effect of "Black-Winged Dragon" to increase its ATK by the total damage its effect nullified, and decrease the ATK of "Crimson Mefist" by the exact same amount ("Black-Winged Dragon": 0 → 2800 ATK; "Crimson Mefist": 2800 → 0 ATK). "Black-Winged Dragon" attacks "Crimson Mefist", but the latter isn't destroyed due to "Synchro Rivalry" (Bolton: 2800 → 0 LP).
This the effect of Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite in the anime : If this card is in your Graveyard, you can return 1 card you control to the hand to Special Summon this card and take 400 damage. If this card is Special Summoned with this effect while a card is Set on the field, destroy this card. (This why the real have a hard once per Duel).
So Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite is totaly broken in the anime if you can just set a card and you got a free body. This look like the card Level Eater.

This was my personal favorite loop in the franchise, and such a creative way to use Black-Winged Dragon. I completely get why they changed the effect later on and forced Zephyrus to be once per duel, this would’ve been broken if you could set up for it properly.

I get how classic Yugi’s loop was, but I have to say that the loop with Yuri and Yusho really gave me chills. I mean I really felt the despair. Tributing your opponents cards to activate the spell? Also let’s not forget the LP and ATK continuous loss. Like as much as I like the Egoa (Smile) aspect of dueling there was literally nothing that could’ve saved him and that right there is what makes Yuri such a good villain.

Even if Hasselberry didn't have his trap... Sho's loop was still legal, as each part of the loop changes the game state in a way that one player get's closer to winning (by Tryanno taking damage)... If that didn't happen, Sho wouldn't have been allowed to use de-fusion to put out the guys that allowed the loop to happen.

Hounereble mentions to Jaden vs Viper
Vipers field: Viper has Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes as the only monster on his field, a monster that can special summon itself on destruction by banishing a reptile monster from the graveyard, and because its atk is 500 times the number of reptile monsters in his graveyard, it had 2500 at the time the loop could have begun.
Jadens field: Jaden has Wild heart on the field, a monster that has the effekt that it can atk all monsters on the field, and its atk is 2600.
Now Jadens attaks Vennominin with Wild Hearth, with under normal surcumstanses would make it so Viper has to revive his monster in order to keep it (cant remember if the effekt is mandetory in the anime, im 50/50 on it) but because Vipers monster counts as a new card every time it revives, Wild heart is allowt to attak it again, and because of all this either Viper has no choice on if he wants to revive his monster or not, and thus Jaden can keep attaking it until there no Reptile left in Vipers graveyard thus we have a loop, or if Viper has a choice is forced to stop reviving his monster, lose it and be in a bad spot, of course this loop never started, because Viper had the trap Rise Of The Snake Deity, wich allows him to instead of reviving Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes on its destruction, special summon Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes, wich also gains 500 atk fore every reptile in the graveyard, giving it 3000 atk so Wild Hearth couldent atk over any more monsters.
This was among the first things that came to mind when explaining the video, and even thoug it never started, it almost did so it was worth a mention.

There was another "intended loop" in Gx
Viper had Venominom on the field, then Jaden summoned Wildedge, and Jesse stated that Jaden's gameplan was to prevent Viper from using Venominom's revive effect by the threat of a potential loop: upon revival, venominom would count as a new monster, wildedge's effect would allow it to attack Venominom again, and venominom would get weaker by 500 points every time, allowing Jaden to deplete Viper's points
Though you could say it was successful in preventing him from using the effect, Viper just summoned Venominaga next turn

Kenzan's set card would certainly have ended the loop but it would only have resulted in a draw nonetheless.
In exact rulings you would be able to use Jurassic Impact in between Ultimate Tyranno attacks (though only the anime version, the IRL version requires him to have a second monster on the field). Also Ultimate Tyranno had its effect re-worded that makes the loop no longer a thing - its wording throughout all but its most recent printing was that it MUST attack all monsters, but it was rewritten to say that as long as it can attack, other monsters cannot attack so there is no restriction stating that you couldn't simply end your battle phase when you spot the loop.

Personally I don't think you should count Yusei's potential loop vs. Antinomy since it didn't happen due to Halberd Cannon negating Wild Heart's summon twice. I would replace this with Bohman's Tesseract Hydradrive Monarch OTK loop vs. Blue Maiden.
Here's how this worked: whenever Tesseract Hydradrive Monarch finished an attack and the opponent still had a monster on the field, the former's effect would activate, forcing the opponent to send one monster they control that shared an Attribute with Tesseract (which had EARTH, WATER, WIND, and FIRE as Attributes) to the GY. If successful, Tesseract can attack again.
On the final turn, this loop repeated a total of five times, eventually overpowering the defenses of Marincess Wonder Heart and destroying it. Wonder Heart's destruction also caused Judgment Arrows to be live again, which meant Tesseract had double the ATK on the final blow. Blue Maiden's defenses were overpowered and her LP wiped out as a result.

Sevens- Yuga vs Luke R2, one of the greatest Yugioh Duels I have ever seen with you not knowing who is gonna win, both of them going all out, with their end board having each of their 3 aces. I thought Yuga was going to win for his loss to Luke early on but Luke clinched it incredibly.

During Yugi's duel with an Orichalcos Soldier, the Soldier used a monster that was a loop by itself (iirc Dartz also used that monster). Jaden Yuki's Grand Mole is another loop by itself and Jaden used it multiple times, most prominently to defeat Lorenzo in GX season 2.

When he dueled Blue Maiden the effect of his hydradrive (monarch, I think?) would make aoi send a monster to the graveyard of the same attribute after attacking. It's how the cards worked in the anime. Brain Control takes control of Revival Jam for the entire turn. It's the same monster indifferent of the location. So the revival happens on the field of the current owner as it's yours in grave also. For that turn the monster was Yugi's. We got something different where you don't get to put things in your deck, grave and it's not the same monster. We would need to mark monsters. X is mine, x2 is yours. It's to simplify it for us, though we also need to keep check of what monster got revived, specialed etc... Think monsters that can only be summoned and use effects once they got summoned properly.

When you mentioned that infinite loops are illegal, technically that's not entirely true. I believe you were using IRL YGO for reference on what the two types of loops are, in which case I must mention that infinite loops were only ever illegal if they didn't result the end of the game, so things like deckout and burn infinite loops have always been legal.
Also in IRL YGO, they have fixed the rules a few years back to make it to where an infinite loop that doesn't result in the end of the game and therefore serves no useful function will be stopped by the destruction of the card that is the most responsible for the loop happening.

How about Yugi’s loop to defeat the God cards vs Atem. Destroy his own monsters. Then use magnetic reverse to summon Valkerian. Slifer’s second mouth attack. Magnetic reverse to redirect attack bSck at Atem’s monsters. Then split Valketian to summon 3 magnet warriors. Forcing Slifer to attack again. Triggering trap again. You realize if Slifer had more life points, Ygi could keep repeating thAt sequence by summoning Valketian/3 Magnet warriors.

  • @themantyf1116
    @themantyf1116 2 місяці тому

I think Reiji would deserve first place, for two reasons.
First, there is a meta vindication aspect to it: in the first season of Arc V, it seemed that the intrusion penalty was decided by Reiji and didn't apply to, say, the fusion dimension, which was heavily criticized for, so using it to his advantage against a fusion duelist was cathartic. And second, all other loops solved in-duel problems, this loop defeated an off-game CHEAT.
However, I also lied. Because it would deserve first place on this list, true, but the actual first place would go to a loop that is not on the list, a more conditional and non-infinite loop (but to me, if we count Playmaker and Dark Side of Dimension, that are more combos, this counts too), and the one who actually defeated a God. Because Atem against Strings sidestepped a God, defeating the opponent instead of the monster, but Yugi merging a unmerging the magnet warriors against Atem actually managed to defeat and destroy not one, but three Egyptian Gods.

A loop I was expecting to see didn't make the list. I had to double check to see if it was a loop. I thought of Yugi using Magnet Force against Slifer by summoning Valkyrion, then the magnet warrior pieces that made him in succession to destroy the 3 gods. However, upon rewatching the scene, I think calling it a loop would be incorrect since another card was activated to bring Valkyrion back to use the effect again. I misremembered the scene.

I have 2 dark type Rose Dragons on the field. One a tuner and one a non-tuner. I met the condition for HSF by having those monsters on the field but Master Duel wouldn't let me activate it. For the same reason you cannot use Ultra Polymerization's GY effect on Starving Venom, Harmonic Synchro Fusion checks if the Fusion can be summoned using the monsters in the GY, however, Starving Venom can only be summoned using monsters on the field, which means it cannot be brought via HSF

Yugi vs Dartz quite frankly bugged me with the absurd infinite +1, really felt like a cop out/plot armor nonsense. (Still my favorite of the Ygo anime series... but to be honest I am a bit of a boomer. xD)
Also here is an idea for a new video:
Top 10 momentum swings in a duel, where someone is losing, and they are able to turn it around and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. (Kind of like how kaiba walked to the edge to stop yugi from killing the blue eyes ultimate dragon, perhaps how joey is often able to use time wizard to age monsters and win.

Even if it was infinite+1, you can theoretically compare 2 infinities, then declare the victor based on that comparison. If one is +1 for each iteration and one is x2 for each iteration, then the x2 is the victorious monster. A bit more complicated than declaring a draw because it's infinite and infinite or invalidity, but you can declare a winner. Heck, take an equip that is always +100 attack over the opponent's monster. Now the opponent has an infinite monster. Your monster can be the victor because yours is in every point x+100, where x is the value your opponent has at that point.
