- This was a tough one. On the one hand he was definitely more streamlined and athletic looking in 1998 but in 2003 he brought unparalleled quality mass. What do you think was Ronnie's best showing?

98-99 Ronnie does imo.no one in b.b history beats 98-99 hell even 03 with his bigger stomach and not so crazy v taper/aesthetics.stil no one does imo

Aesthetically speaking I’m not sure why people think Ronnie’s the goat. His midsection has always been mediocre.
1999 is a better version of 1998 IMO. Still aesthetic and crazy mass with good proportion
Yeah good choice I totally forgot about 99 in the honourable mentions but he looked awesome there as well. Reason I went with 98 over 99 is because his conditioning was just a little better in 98.
I really wanted to compare the most conditioned, aesthetic version of Big Ron (98) with the most massive freaky version (03), but 1999 is almost like a hybrid between the two and you could easily argue that was his best ever.

In 2003 Ronnie’s Quads actually outshine Jay’s (and that was hard to do). In 03 His biceps Peaks, his rear lat spread, his hamstrings, his side chest pose, etc.. 2003 Ronnie at close to 290lbs on stage was/is unbeatable by any other bodybuilder, PERIOD!
We all know that in an all time bodybuilding contest 2003 ronnie would beat any other bodybuilder/ physic etc ever. You could bring 93 dorian, 2009 jay, 2011/2013 phil and 03 ronnie would still win

Ronnies best was either the 98/01 AC .ONly 2 times he was bone dry and hard as nails.His detail , shape , balance, aesthetics and even posing routine were superior also
Most of the 03 size gain was gut,glutes and quads.His arms, calves, delts stayed the same pretty much .AKA he was even more bottom heavy than a prime tom platz

@Dale Wilson ramy was leaner and bigger that year, he's even better structurally and he can match him in the mandatories.
Honestly, 98 Ronnie had the best physique of all time in my opinion. He had great detail with mass, and his proportions were spot on.
2003 is still the most impressive bodybuilder ever.

thx bro. I don't compete if that's what you mean. Entered a drug-free competition once when I was 20-21 and frankly hated it, the tanning aspect alone was traumatic and then there's the dieting lol... no thanks. I do work out in the bodybuilding style but no I don't juice either.

2001 New Zealand Pro is nearly a perfect balance between the two. My personal favorite for sure.
He had a good classic physic look in the early 1990s. Around '91, he had a good classic physic. These years you show here are good for when he became a mass monster.
98 he had gyno, but was slightly more ripped than in 99. But 99 olympia and english grand prix are his best mix of both size and conditioning. IMO.
12:40 , "when you reach mass monster status you loose the ability to do these poses" well you see, if you were able to view paul Dillet during the half a second he could hold them, he actually was able to do these poses

1991 for me. But that's from a classic standpoint only. If he was able to keep working on that physique.. that would have been just awesome. But then we wouldn't have seen the freaky shit he actually did lol.

its apples and oranges really.Ronnie brought many ndifferent looks to the stage.He brought smallish( for him at least ) version in 98,01 asc or 02 ( his worst by far).He was extremely impressive later on ( 03-05, with 03 his best mass monster version, 2nd would be 05 and last 04).As for when he was in transition(99-01) he looked best in 99 and worst in 01, his gut surely was at its worst in 01 and 04.
Imo he looked great in 98,99, 01 arnold and 03, good in 00, 05 and bad in 01,02 and 04.
98 and 01 arnold is virtually same, 247 lb but in 01 he didnt sport the gyno, bujt had some degree of distension, 99 was superior even though he was slightly less hard.03 he had more mass but least detail/flow due to too much mass and wist getting alot bigger.There is a point in which too much mass ruis the look.
Using the judging crtieria and holy shit dominant factor 03 is almost undeniably the best phisique to ever grace the stage.
But his opinion is that 98 was his best-proly because of superior conditioning/detail ,also because his waist was still decent then, and his quads hadnt imploded yet, ruining his calves-thigh ratio.

agree with you Tomner his 1999 was also a pinnacle of his Physiques. 01 Arnold he kept the conditioning but added size hence why his distention become noticeable at points. 1998&1999 he stayed crisp, hard and full without getting too big. it's like comparing Phil's best it was his 2011 & 2013 every physique suffers when a competitor adds too much size. i have an emotional attachment to Ronnie 2003, first PPV Olympia i ever watched live and how his physique shut up everyone who said he was too small in 2002!!

At about the 15:00 mark, the picture on the left looks like it may have been filtered. However, both pics look impressive. One thing that I would like to see, and some genius may have already done it, is all of the Olympia champions (virtually) competing with each other, but perhaps using CGI or photoshop or something to adjust each physique. For example, let's say all of the champs were competing in 1965, their physiques would be adjusted for that time, or perhaps they're competing now, and their physiques would be adjust for today's standards. Whatever time frame you put them in adjust for that time. Personally, I think thee late 70s, or the mid 80s were the best years of bodybuilding.

No one looks like Ronnie with the side chest is because he has such long arms for his height. So he doesnt look all scrunched up. Its also why his back double is so powerful.

I like both versions of Ronnie but gotta go with 2003. The video of that 2003 posing routine is unparalleled for the balance of mass and aesthetics. Mass alone is not where it's at, it's about the lines and overall structure and if mass can be combined with that then i'll go with that. Perhaps in some ways Ronnie had slightly more detail in 98 but his mass in 2003 made up for any loss. He def brought up his back in 2003.

Not many people bring this up but it really bothers me: within this 5 year span, his face aged like 30 years, so it just makes him look like an old, overweight man in 2003 even though he was ripped and massive. He sacrificed all the separation in his muscles in 2003 to be bigger too, he was really washed out looking. It pains me to say this, his legs smoked even Tom Platz.

Crazy
in 03 prejudge his waist and obliques didn't look that bad, he must've hydrated for the main show. The night show he was just Fing around, go watch his prejudge he was a few pounds lighter and shredded the best shape ever.

Dude i really like watching your channel but you really get some shit pictures some times.some look like they aren't fully in the pose or just going into it.one picture you have the pose perfect and the one being compared is taken while not into the pose yet but you show it anyway.there are a lot of times shit is unfair.i know you do a lot of shit to make these vids and you are appreciated big time i mean no disrespect but maybe you can have someone help finding pics or helping decide which ones to show. Asthetics don't mean jack in today's comps. Its all about mass and conditioning that wins shows.
It's Ronnie huge stomach that just completely puts me off. It bulges out like a pregnant woman just not bodybuilding for me.

I never liked Ronnie's physique. His midsection absolutely kills it for me. He looks like a blob of muscle. A massive blob but a blob none the less. If he had a longer more streamlined midsection and a little less mass, the man would be unstoppable. I know that I'm in the minority but for me, Coleman is the most overrated Mr. O of all time. In my eyes, a bodybuilder like Flex Wheeler crushes Ronnie Coleman in every way except for mass.
Sorry but Ronnie's abs and bubble gut should have kept him out of the top spot. He looks terrible to me.
