I just started shopping for my first comms system and came across this video, so great timing. Excellent review. Thank you! Because of your video, I pulled the trigger on the XGP system and installed it in our helmets yesterday. My wife and I like it and it paired just like you demoed. I’m really impressed, especially for the price. Thanks again 😊
@@TheEagle12901 I've tried a couple of them and weren't impressed. The ones with the upgraded JBL's sounded OK. But I personally think they are WAYntoo much money for what they are.
@@woodman39 Yes. The music will automatically lower to let the GPS instructions be heard louder. When the GPS stops talking, the music goes back to full volume
Thanks. I'm actually planning on it. I still love this headset and used it on a group ride this past weekend with some guys that hard Cardo units. Although it worked and I paired with them, my sound quality wasn't as good as theirs as it uses the universal Bluetooth pairing compared to Cardo using their DMC mesh network.
I have the pair. One thing i noticed, When you share music you can’t hear orr it wont sound if you try to talk as well on both Besides that, everything is perfectly good
Thank you for the awesome video, my wife is going to start riding with me as a passenger and I’m buying her riding gear now . I love the price of this . Any ways my question for you is I’m buying this to communicate with her while we ride together , 1. will we constantly hear wind in each others ears while it’s on intercom mode ? , 2. There is a mute button Aswell ?, 3. Is it easy to press the mute button without beeing distracted driving ? I want to talk to her and give her a safe heads up when stopping, turning and sightseeing . Thank you again hope to hear from you soon
The noise cancellation is really good and you shouldn’t hear wind noise. That also depends on the helmets. Open face helmets you may get some wind noise but full faced helmet none. Even if open faced, the cancellation works really well. Plus you have a mute button if you wish to mute the mic. All controls were easy to use but it will also depend on the thickness/bulkiness of your gloves
Hi brother hope your day is going well Another question i just got the head set but it don’t work with voice command like Siri or any thing, does your work voice prompt ?
I really wish you would have showed where exactly you landed the speakers. I still don't really have a great idea how far or how close to directly under my ears they should go.
I know this is an older vid so you may not see this or know the answer, but I can't seem to find an answer. Was looking at the fodsports fx6 for my wife and I while dirt biking, and also if our friends want to get some we can all talk (5 of us). The XGP seems to be a little better sound quality and less issues pairing so thinking about those, but seems to be a max of 2 people for all I can tell. Can you have more than 2 people in an intercom call with the XGP, or a maximum of 2?
XGP makes the X10 which supports 10 riders. I did a video on that one here if you’re interested ua-cam.com/video/lbqPFCDaeXU/v-deo.htmlsi=JwXPGLZLVkiCFoed
I cannot get Google Assistant to hear me through the mic. Every time I get GA to open, I believe it is only hearing me directly through the phone. If I click 2x on the pwr button, as directed in the manual, it brings up Bixby.
Great to see a fellow Long Islander on the "Tube". Would you know if you can connect to a GoPro with the intercom? I'm looking to get into MotoVlogging, and would like to be able to record conversations with another rider while on the road. Thanks
Always happy to meet another Islander!! As for recording a motovlog with another rider, the easiest way I found so far is with the Cardo Packtalk Edge. It allows you to record the intercom directly to your phone over bluetooth. It works really well, but you then have to sync your video/audio track. There are other ways to do it with cables and splitters, but it's a pain and you end up with a rats nest of wires in your helmet.
I believe I saw the one with the splitter. Not sure if it was the Cardo or Sena split into a GoPro. I just can’t justify the $200 price tag for 1 device.
I'm looking to get an intercom style BT headset for my helmet as a buddy and I will start riding more once it permanently warms up here this spring. I'm new to how these work; -Do these function as a PTT or is it a constant "open-mic" function? -Can you have comms layered over music or is the comms a seperate channel? If yes, is it one size fits all volume adjustment? -After a connection, if you push the intercom button, does it simply mute you or disconnect the link? And does the other user get notified? How do you reestablish a connection if they turn off as well?
They are not PTT but open channel communications. Once you open the channel and establish the connection, everyone is on and can talk at once. You can always mute your mic if you don't want to be heard using the mute button, and you can even drop out of the conversation by hitting the intercom button again. If you want to join back in, you hit the intercom button again and it joins the party again (most of the time). Usually you and the other riders hear a chime when someone joins back in. Sometimes they can be a little finicky if you drop out and then try to jump back in. But usually once you establish the communication between the other riders and pair up, they usually will connect right up again even after being powered off if you stop for a break and get a bite to eat etc... Once you get back on the bikes you can power them back up and hit the intercom button again and usually they all pair up again. Also if you trail behind during a ride far enough and get disconnected, they usually will reconnect on their own as soon as your back in range with the other riders. As for music, it's either one or the other. You can listen to music or do intercom. Some models will even allow you to share your music with another rider with the same make/model headset. But I haven't seen any headset yet that allows you to listen to music and speak at the same time. Hope this information helps
Does the XGP have the same problem as the $30 one you tested? (edit) .. OOPS... I'm referring to the android voice command. Thanks for the review. Just wanted something to connect to the GPS.
@@Limitlessmattmx You may want to look into Fodsports. I mean Cardo Packtalk Edge is great for big groups but they are expensive. Yes. But not their mesh network. Only Bluetooth network. Each brand has their own proprietary mesh network but also use a generic Bluetooth they will let other brands connect but not as good quality and range as mesh network provides
