This poor sweet kid. She is traumatized beyond belief but still speaks about her ordeal with such clarity. Her Mom knows she was one of the lucky ones…. College should represent the freest time of your life. A time that leaves fond memories of challenge and growth. Now this girl will remember college for other things as well. Not so fond memories. Memories that leave a lingering fear. Classrooms will never be the same for her. She seems strong and resilient. It just sucks that this situation will push her to find out how strong and resilient. I wish her well. I want to hug her and her mom. They are able to hug another day. RIP to the victims. Love and light during these most outrageously bizarre times we live in.

Random gun violence is a plague on USA. This shooting hurts more than hearing about high death tolls from natural disasters (like Turkey's Earthquakes). Losing a round against nature? I can swallow that. However, premeditated murder of innocent people, plus terrorizing thousands others, yea, that hurts way more. Schools, unlike restaurants or clubs, can't shutdown or leave to bury painful memories. They have to resume working to fulfill their missions.
My Momma heart can't imagine going through such a nightmare with my son. Back when he was in college we didn't have to worry about this violence. Now my son is a Teacher, past 20 years, now I worry about him and " his kids " . My heart goes out to these students and their families ! Love, hugs and prayers from a Kansas Grandma ❤️ 👵 🙏
My condolences and sympathy to all the students that experienced this. I know it had to be very traumatic. I hope the university reaches out to all the students.
When you can see , smell and experience an event like this it will leave you with PTSD. When you hear this it’s very heartbreaking.

I have family that were living this nightmare last night. The texts I received were horrifying. The nightmare is far from over emotionally and mentally. Today, I’m thankful and angry. We can say “ Michigan STRONG “, but that is NOT saving lives! This is the SECOND time Michiganders have endured tragedy and schools have not made the changes that are necessary! We don’t want condolences, and well wishes- WE WANT OUR CHILDREN ALIVE AND UNHARMED! ENOUGH! 😰

When my daughter experienced her first school shooting, she missed the gunman by one room. Didn't see her for 12 hours.

I literally graduated college last December and can't imagine the sinking feeling they would have gotten after hearing the shots. It is so traumatic for so many. My thoughts are with the victims, students, and the families impacted by this.

Mental health is a real issue.
As a parent myself , this is my worst nightmare.
In my circle of friends and family , I know a child who died at Sandy Hook, Parkland , and one that survived a shooting in a prep school in DC . I also have friends who were members of the Temple in Pittsburgh that was shot up .
Every time I hear of a another shooting I feel numb and then after several hours like that I feel terrified .
We live in a very angry country, where people have numerous problems and I imagine they get hold of a gun and take their pain out on others .
So we have to change a lot of things to get this to stop .
- no mass firing assault rifles sold
- waiting periods and license required to own a gun
- background checks
- more mental health services
- anger & coping skills taught at schools and in the workplace
It will take all of us on board to help turn this around .
“Mass firing assault rifles” is such a made up term. Background checks happen. Licensing isn’t gonna really work at all either. It’s mental health that we need to work on.

We can try to slow it down, which is good, but the Holy Bible, clearly explains how the perils of the world are only going to worsen, especially in the book of Timothy and revelation. I know it’s disheartening that these situations will only increase, but it is written. It’s a fact.
I also lost two people I knew in the Sandy Hook massacre. I'm so sorry you've also been touched by this tragedy. I'm going to the memorial today in SH. I feel your pain, but can't imagine being grazed by multiple incidents like you were... I hope you are healing 🤍🕊️

I’ve heard so many of these survivor stories from different school shootings, but this is the one that made me burst into tears. Because her mom was on the phone with her, and what a thing to be a witness of. I thank the broadcast network and these two marvelous women for sharing this with us

Is it safe to go out anymore? I was walking back from Target one night and out of nowhere i hear gunshots. I see two people(a young couple) driving by shooting their guns on the Freeway Wall Base. Trigger Happy. Firing those guns must make them feel good about their average mediocre life.

I am almost speechless, and I am deeply saddened at hearing the terrible, untimely, losses of Life of the Students of MSU due to the Despicable, and Senseless actions of the perpetrator of this crime.
This is Very close to home, with all the students being from our state of Michigan all being local students.

We all need to stop the insanity and call it as it is to be fair across the board in reporting 1. The shooter was black 2. He was a felon. 3. If all victims are white my hope is this is treated as a hate crime! 4. This was preventable if he was in JAIL where he belonged and not free! These people were failed by the insanity sweeping across the whole nation and it’s not one factor it’s multiple factors that contribute to these shootings lack of love and parenting being a huge factor, criminals not being prosecuted or serving out their sentences, the constant media noise pitting one group or the other against another for political and financial gain, lack of respect or morals and yes firearms play a role too. What’s changed in America that we are seeing this? Maybe go back and look at why this wasn’t prevalent 40 years ago and what changed since then. The answers are there staring everyone in the face!

We need to revolutionize our Psychology training. Only so many therapists are talented and able to authentically connect with clients. I find some therapists useless. We need therapists in the poorest communities and at all schools. You check all students mental health at this point! Taking guns away is not going to resolve our societies lack of mental health care.

I'm from Sandy Hook. The girl was actually from a nearby school. Still traumatic nonetheless.. I stayed home from school that day, but people I know died, so I have a bit of inside info. All nearby schools went into lockdown and there were rumors that the shooter was coming to more nearby schools. Going to the memorial today...
