Wow Ethan really got big! I think he does sound sorry for his actions and takes full responsibility for his actions but his parents do have a lot of blame for what happened even though they didn't know he was going to do it! They didn't get him the mental help he was crying out for but instead purchased him a gun! makes no sense! I never have any pity for these crazies that shoot up schools and other institutions but Ethan was in a very bad home life upbringing (not that it excuses what he did) and doesn't change the fact that he took four lives that will never get to enjoy their lives! It's just very sad he couldn't get the help he truly needed and now will potentially live a very long life in a prison cell! Maybe the parents should get the same life sentence for creating the monster Ethan turned out to be!
The parents provided the weapons and didn’t get him help. They encouraged his thought process. And yes his meditations would have caused weight gain. Hopefully he is beginning to think like a normal person. He needs to spend the rest of his life getting to know Jesus.
Does he though? I wonder if the Freudian slip at 01:34 where he said “I want the people I’ve hurt to have a final sense of culpability” actually shows his true feelings. It could have just been an error of not knowing what it means, or maybe it’s what he truly wanted to say when he wasn’t giving an obligatory “I’m sorry” speech in hopes that his sentence would be reduced.
His parents absolutely FAILED him. This kid had NO chance. He begged for help. It doesn’t justify his actions, but MAN, all he needed was ONE adult in his life to listen to him. To talk to him. To believe him. Another life senselessly lost because of the inaction of ADULTS in his care. Those 4 gunshot victims are NEVER coming home. The others who were wounded will live forever with their trauma. Ethan will have this on his conscience forever. Just a HORRIBLE outcome overall.
I live in MI. This happened just north of Detroit. He really should stay in prison for the rest of his life. Some of these survivors were involved in the campus shooting at MSU also. They didn’t go back college after the second incident.
This judge is everything!!! What a compassionate man. Bless him and bless all the victims left in this awful tragedy. Their pain and grief is so palpable and my heart aches for everyone affected by this evilness. 😢
Why? Why do parents need to be responsible for a psycho like this? My son was murdered by a "tough guy" wannabe and he was raised in a religious, respectful home. He turned out bad. I heard how he was just a cowardly piece of street garbage. He made the decision to take a life. My God I'm sick of hearing "parents need to be responsible".
I totally agree, what parent in their right mind buys their child a weapon when they knew full well he was having issues?! 🤯 They’ll be standing trial next, charged with involuntary manslaughter
How was Crumbley's statement "chilling" His apology was sincere and substantive, and he asked the judge to satisfy the sentencing wishes of the victims' families.
Friends, families and loved ones of the dead are also victims. They will suffer the rest of their lives. Apparently, you don't care if someone you love is killed.
I do believe this happened bc of the parents lack of love and lack of attention they gave their children they def deserve life as well bc they lacked A LOT as parents
We, as a society, require people to attend classes and then pass a test before we allow them to drive, but when somebody becomes a parent we say "You'll figure it out".
Very popular to hate this kid but if I ever saw someone who was bullied relentlessly in school it was him. This poor kid was harassed until he couldn't take it anymore. His parents failed him, they should have enrolled him in a gym and had a trainer build some muscle on him or put him in a karate school but instead, the fools bought him a gun. The school failed him because they allow bullies to harass weaker kids, the school is as much to blame as anyone. I know this because I was as skinny as a death camp survivor and I was bullied at school. I thank God I didn't have access to a gun or I'd be in the same spot.
Exactly!!! I was so glad to hear the judge express that there are 2 types of deterrence, public and personal. The actions of the woke DAs and judges have shown criminals that IF there are any consequences they won't be that bad.
This judge is a credit to his profession. He is articulate, thorough, and showed Compassion to the families that were impacted by this shooter. Thank you Judge. To the families of the victims, my condolences to all of you.

The state of mental health care in this country is a disaster. None of this had to happen, we need to trust mental health care seriously like we do our physical health.
His parents didn’t think he needed mental health accommodations. I think that was more destructive than the weapon purchases. They thought that any talk of a mental health illness was nothing more than a fluke. Screw them for failing that child.
@@christinametal1071 exactly, he still has to pay the 60 bucks for the dna test too. what are you gonna do, make the parents of the victim shell out 60 bucks instead?

So when he was arrested he was held in a jail and not convicted here he is found guilty and sentenced so they credited the time he spent in custody 8 days before he was sentenced to life Doesn’t really make sense in this case but say you were in jail for a month or even a year and sentenced to 5 years that time is credited as served. But legally it’s applied

That's exactly what I was thinking!
It's those antipsychotics he is most certainly on
The parents provided the weapons and didn’t get him help.
@@FourHuskyHomesteadbecause no one has ever hurt or killed people in the name of Jesus 🙄
like stauch 'you looked humongus'
His parents absolutely FAILED him. This kid had NO chance. He begged for help. It doesn’t justify his actions, but MAN, all he needed was ONE adult in his life to listen to him. To talk to him. To believe him. Another life senselessly lost because of the inaction of ADULTS in his care. Those 4 gunshot victims are NEVER coming home. The others who were wounded will live forever with their trauma. Ethan will have this on his conscience forever. Just a HORRIBLE outcome overall.
That jail food seems to agree with this monster.
Don’t u mean prison? Still food is food
No jail. That's where he's been all this time; he just got sentenced to prison today.
Or maybe he barely ever got fed before jail. Prisoners eat 3 meals a day in this economy and act like victims
Well he knows he will never be homeless
Medication will make you gain weight like that especially during puberty.
Parents should be liable as well!!!
@@dragonflysurgeoncuz ur probably a bad parent
I totally agree, what parent in their right mind buys their child a weapon when they knew full well he was having issues?! 🤯 They’ll be standing trial next, charged with involuntary manslaughter
His parents are in jail. Their trial is scheduled to begin in January.
@@horvathsogranfume658 bad parent because his kid was murdered???

How was Crumbley's statement "chilling" His apology was sincere and substantive, and he asked the judge to satisfy the sentencing wishes of the victims' families.

Friends, families and loved ones of the dead are also victims. They will suffer the rest of their lives. Apparently, you don't care if someone you love is killed.
people are religious, might as well believe in santa claus and other snake oil
so stop bs-ing
@bobvaldez8986bad choice?..sounds like he bought the wrong sandwich..He's a cold calculating murderer.
@bobvaldez8986 That's your opinion. He's still a despicable monster though.
I've never seen a judge use a highlighter during sentencing.
He had a lot to cover and get on record. He needed to keep track of what he was saying so he didn’t miss anything.
Parents responsible for this one. Many young weak men being raised these days are committing these crimes. Parents are not involved anymore.
He wasn't bullied, but he was mentally ill
once again thank you judge, now if only da's and other judges would have your fortitude we might be able to stop such bullshiff
Exactly!!! I was so glad to hear the judge express that there are 2 types of deterrence, public and personal. The actions of the woke DAs and judges have shown criminals that IF there are any consequences they won't be that bad.
@@jo3608l agree with you

Compassion to the families that were impacted by this shooter.
Thank you Judge.

You are nuts.....and another victim of the modern day trend of 'Judge Worshipping'
great judge, refreshing to see stern strict rulings.
The horror the victims endured and the torture of the baby birds will haunt me forever. I can’t believe the absolute nightmare - the poor humans and animals he is responsible for torturing and killing. No words.
The state of mental health care in this country is a disaster. None of this had to happen, we need to trust mental health care seriously like we do our physical health.
This judge is commendable in his address
1:34 he wants his victims to have “a final sense of culpability?? I’m hoping he just worded that incorrectly and meant ‘culpability’ on his part
This judge for president!
This judge for the Supreme Court!
His parents didn’t think he needed mental health accommodations. I think that was more destructive than the weapon purchases. They thought that any talk of a mental health illness was nothing more than a fluke. Screw them for failing that child.
Wow what a studied judge! He did a thorough job of reading all files, summing up the case and not missing a beat.
Excellent Judge! Very well said, the details. Restitution needs to be huge.
That statement is not chilling. The crime itself was. The video title is completely misleading.
Chilling statements. The Judge was brilliant in this case with his execution of justice and court surmation. Such a distressing and emotional case.
The judge is so graceful
What a terribly sad case.
After the life sentence without parole, what's the point of sentencing him to two years for illegal possession of a firearm?😂😂😂

@@christinametal1071 exactly, he still has to pay the 60 bucks for the dna test too. what are you gonna do, make the parents of the victim shell out 60 bucks instead?
Crumbley couldn’t even say that he shot people, that he killed people - in his mind, he’s just “a bad person but he’s trying to be a better person.”
Thank you, Judge. This is a sentence that completely aligns with the crime. May you be blessed all your days on the bench.

You either choose the good road or the bad road in life,if you choose the bad road then justice will take you down.
He said the same thing as Nicholas Cruz at his point during his trial!!!
The chilling part is it is not sincere, he is trying to get 25 years when it should be for life or killed.
Exactly... all of his statement was clearly manipulative in order to get parole and do it all over again imo.
You are crazy! He pled guilty and took full responsibility. He went against his attorney’s in sentencing. I have never seen another school shooter accept responsibility like he has done.
nah he's not sorry he can't even admit he killed ppl after 2 years. he said he hurt ppl and apologized for "lying and being untrustworthy" really? we don't care that you're a liar how about saying your sorry for murdering executing traumatizing innocent ppl. his apology was weak and manipulative
If it wasn't sincere, why did he willfully except any punishment the judge would give him? I believe that he was sincere.
In Michigan first degree murder is automatically a life without parole sentence.
01:34 “I want the people I’ve hurt to have a final sense of culpability” - Freudian slip or does he just not know the meaning of the word “culpability”?
Guess he meant closure
I think he means his own culpability. The statement was almost certainly written by his attorney.
Come on, Oxford is not a school that is famous for a proliferation of well-rounded student attendees... I would surmise he doesn't know the meaning or how to use the word in a sentence

Huh? Articulate? 😂 His comments are just big word salad.
"Life without the possibility of parole, credit for 5 days served." How does that work?
So when he was arrested he was held in a jail and not convicted here he is found guilty and sentenced so they credited the time he spent in custody 8 days before he was sentenced to life
Doesn’t really make sense in this case but say you were in jail for a month or even a year and sentenced to 5 years that time is credited as served. But legally it’s applied
Thank you, Judge Rowe.
This kid was failed by his parent. Yes, what he did was terrible, tragic, and wrong, but I believe him. I believe he understands (to the best of his ability-maybe not fully because he is still a _kid_ ) the pain he caused and the consequences of his actions. I pray he keeps his word and focuses on himself, changing, growing, and helping other people who maybe are in similar situations or before they go down the wrong path. It’s sad to know he will be in jail for the rest of his life. He did something horrible, but he had serious mental health issues, his parents simply ignored him and didn’t intervene. Just a sad story. Sad for the victims, their families, and this life that could’ve been saved had he been given help from the people (his parents) who were supposed to love and care for him.
RIP to the victims of the shooting. May your spirits live on through the people who love you and were left behind. We will never forget the amazing people you were and the beautiful souls that you continue to be. I pray that their families find peace, comfort, and closure.
_Do NOT jump on me for having empathy for this child. I don’t agree _*_at all_*_ with what he did, I am just glad he has realized this and will strive to do better. I hope to see that from him in the future._
