Power AirFryer XL Review

- LINK to Power AirFryer XL: amzn.to/2xamYe2 Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Power AirFryer XL. This is the 5.3 Quart size in black, it also comes in 3.4 Quart Size and you can choose from black or red. Like most airfryers, this one works by circulating hot air like a convection oven. This unit is 1700 watts. It measures 14.5 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide and 14.9 inches deep. The power cord is 45 inches long. Most people buy air fryers as an alternative to deep frying. You can make french fries and fried chicken in this unit using no oil or a small amount, a teaspoon or two. Hold the handle and pull out the basket. Slid the guard forward and push the red button down to release the non-stick fry basket. This is the food divider insert that slides down into the basket so you can cook two different types of food at the same time. To attach the fry basket, lower it into the outer basket and it locks. The baskets feel heavier than other air fryers I’ve reviewed. Slide it back into the unit tilting up a little. It doesn’t want to go in straight. In the back, there is an air outlet vent, don’t block it while using the unit, this is not something you want to put up against a wall. The Air Intake Vent is on top. Make sure there’s plenty of space around the airfryer when using. A recipe book is included. You can use an oven safe dish to cook in this unit.
Here’s the power button on the digital control panel. When you press power once, the default temperature is 370 degrees and cooking time is 15 minutes. Press the power button again to start cooking. Use the + and - buttons on the left to change cooking time one minute at a time or hold it down to change quickly. Use the + and - buttons on the right to change the cooking temperature 10 degrees Fahrenheit at a time. Holding it down will change the temperature quickly. The temperature can be set from 180 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
The M is for preset options. There are seven presets for french fries, roasting, shrimp, bake, chicken, steak and fish. Each preset has a time and temperature listed in the manual.
You don’t have to preheat the unit for cooking.
To turn the unit off during cooking, press the power button. The red heat light turns off and the blue fan icon spins for 20 seconds.
Before using, wash the outer and fry baskets with warm soapy water, both are dishwasher safe. Wipe the inside of the unit with a cloth.
Don’t fill the outer basket with oil. There is a max line on the basket so don’t fill above that.
We’ll cook french fries and fried chicken in this unit. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The french fries were cooked but uneven.

This is one of the best reviews on youtube I have ever seen. So often we get some kind of life story along with reviews, straight and to the point. Very informative.
😀👍
Very well said Bro
Mine came with no instructions or cookbook. You saved my sanity!
Yup lol
LOL on life story! Yes burning through my time. :-)
I have this exact fryer and OMG I love it. For the fries I have found that they cook faster then in this video so I check sooner then recommended and I also spray with extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil spray when I turn them over once and they turn out so crunchy and good, make sure you shake them good. I also spray the friend chicken , onion rings, mozzarella sticks, sausages, hamburgers , wings after I have turned them over it seems to give them an awesome crunch and helps the cooking process. Always use a thermometer to check meats
I got this for Christmas in 2018 and still use it in 2023. It’s amazing and is actually nicer than anyone else’s I’ve seen.
Best air fryer video I have watched! Very informative and helpful! Thank you!
Thanks, Rebecca 😀👍
Indeed...straight forward, non-biased, and informative....simple and sweet
Thank You!...I was given a PowerAir Fryer without a manual, and after looking at several tutorials you were By Far The Best!!...so clear, precise, and easy to understand step-by-step instructions!
Glad it was helpful 😀
Hey how has the power air fryer held up?
You can go online and download the operators manual and recipe book.
I too got one given to me....ans this helped me immensely
You made my decision easy deep fryer just can't be replaced. Very informative.
Hello well done review, thanks for including a few food demos to show actual foods cooked as well as the machines details found this very helpful without seeming rushed or confusing. Very professional without making 1st timers seem like idiots in the kitchen to such new food cookers.
All video reviews should aspire to be this good. You did such a good job I refreshed the page and sat through the ad to say thank you. :)
Thanks so much, Thomas 😀
I was just gifted this air fryer without any instructions. Thank you so much for this review, told me everything I needed to know, and you got straight to the point so kudos for that❤
Happy it helped 😁
Mine was given as a gift. Just love it!
Mine arrived this week, I absolutely love it! My cooker is now redundant, I use this AirFryer every day, I’ve cooked breaded fish, rump steak, pork chops, putting roast potatoes in with it all, chicken, all turned out lovely. I haven’t used the presets just used my own judgment, but I always pre heat on full for 5 mins first. Thanks from 🇬🇧 UK x
Thanks for sharing 😁
Making scratch French fries is best twice cooked. Low cook about 300 degrees until nearly cooked and finish off high temp about 400 degrees. I also start my chicken skin side down and flip half way
Aaron Davis You should do a video. Thanks for the tips
How long at 300??
@@LacyO86 Good morning. What works for me is 10 minutes 300, 5 minutes 400. Remember food temp, amount of food, machine and voltage will vary results. Enjoy!
@@Aaron.Davis56 thanks so much for your quick reply. 😃
Sadly mine up to 200F limit!!!!
Best review I have seen yet. Makes me want to give it a shot, thanks
Thank You! 😀
Got this for a Christmas gift. CANNOT WAIT to use it
😀
I am sold! Thank you for the video. It was very well done. No pun intended.
😂👍
You are very thorough, concise, great views of what you are doing, excellent review. Yes, makes me want one too!
Thanks 😀
Mine is almost 2yrs old. Runs like a champ and the basket has absolutely no stains or buildup.
Well I guess I should my two cents in regarding this air fryer ,, my local Wal Mart had them on sale ( $ 87.99 Can. ) so I bought one. We used it for the first time last night, I'm sold !! really sold, I made lemon / garlic roast potatoes ,, turned out absolutely perfect in sixteen minutes, well done Power Air Fryer XL ,, and clean up was a breeze.
Thanks for sharing 😀
great review, super informative!!!! answered questions I didn't even think of like using an oven safe pan to bake desserts in the air fryer! gonna buy one for my mom for xmas! thank you!!
You’re welcome, Kate! Glad the review was helpful 😀
absolutely fabulous presentation....you need to do this for commercial vendors
I found one at my goodwill store and I got it pretty cheap ten dollars and I've been looking around for manuals/ videos and as well as reviews. I enjoy reading the postive comments about certain thing. Thanks again 😊
Glad I could help!
This is the best review by far very informative and clear better than reading the instructions 👍
Thanks 😀👍
@@bestkitchenreviews i just got a power air fryer xl, but I need the recipe book for the timing to cook, anyone know how to get one?
Thank you very much! 🙂
I’m getting my first air fryer in a few days and I’m looking forward to trying it out !
👍
My mom got me one of these for Christmas so I’m here for the review
is there anyway to silent/mute the buttons?
Great review! Just got one for my birthday yesterday! Cannot wait to try it out! That chicken looks amazing!!
😀👍
Update: been using and LOVING it! I use it a ton!! I find frozen fries cook better than fresh. But i guess blanching the fresh ones would help. Steaks come out great. And chicken too. I'm loving the non stick easy clean up
I received this unit for Christmas, so I found your video very, very helpful and timely. I think you covered all the bases, but I would ask do you think perhaps it would be best to use a meat thermometer when cooking meat in this unit?
Just got my air fryer. Made chicken legs and fries so far. For the fries I blanched them in salt water for five minutes first and then drained, and patted them dry. Tossed them in olive oil and some seasoning before air frying. They came out great. I also tossed them half way through instead of just shaking them. Type of potato must make a difference as well. I used red potatoes. Will try golden and russet soon. Chicken came out fantastic as well.
Hi Teresa, thanks for sharing your experience with this Airfryer 😀
Well I'm still gonna try red potatoes
They all taste the same
Do you still use it has it held up well?
I really enjoyed this review. You do a great job at explaining the minor details and your voice is pleasant to listen to. Great job!
Thanks for the wonderful comments, Mike 😀
I meant every word of it. Im hoping UA-cam monitors this because you would do well as a reviewer of things.
Thank you very much for your review. This was given to me as a gift but I have decided not to screw with it based on your review. I know my oven is wasting more juice but I can season my fry pan and away it goes, evenly without any turning. But this would be amazing to use at a park or some place where the oven is not available.
Thanks for sharing, Jesse 😀
Great review so helpful, need to invest in one of these right away.
Thoroughly enjoyed your review
Glad you liked it 😀
I have one of these and it took 5 uses before the copper coating started to come off the basket. Ordered a new one and it’s 3 months back ordered. That tells me there is a problem with the coating. Sounds like they are making a little extra selling defective baskets.
great review and demonstration!
Wow, what an excellent video review! thanks.
Glad you liked it, George 😀
Is this only for air frying foods? Or does it bake and grill as well like the phillips brand?
Best review I have seen and helped me to know if I want one or not. Thank you.
Happy the review was helpful :)
I have a air fryer but it just goes to 30 min. no more.
Kristopher Michaels I have one and i love it!! I recomended to you👍👍
Hi there, I did get one, I have not used it yet as I have been sick. I still don't know what to cook first in it LOL.
Kristopher Michaels. You can cook french fries and chicken 😊
I have this one and I love it!
Thanks for sharing, Barbara :)
I have this air fryer and love it! My fryer has the temperature in Celsius which is the only difference.
😀👍
how did it held up so far?
I'm just here waiting patiently to take off. Lady sound like a flight attendant (also her hand gestures). well I just got this unit today. I cut the potatoes up into wedges, then boiled for 5 mins,(as recommended in the book) then added about 1.5 tablespoons of olive oil, and tossed with some complete seasoning and put in the air fryer at the preset, they came out perfect, all wedges fully cooked and a nice crisp on the outside.
Thank you + bestkitchenreviews. Great review
+Carol Binnie You're welcome 😀
Great review. Very helpful. Thanks.
😀👍
Great review!! Thanks much!!
😀
I just got mine as a birthday gift. I'm going to try the fried chicken.
Great! Enjoy 😀
Great review. Thanks!
You’re welcome, Vanessa 😀
Target had a 2.4 that's 1200 watts. It's good for truckers. I have a 1500 watt inverter.
I have the 3.4 and it makes great food.
Thanks for sharing, David 😀
This is really a review. More instructional then review.
Your demonstration is perfect 🥰 💞 👌 & easy to following.
thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful 😉
That chicken, looks good too.👍
Hi Anita, have you tried air frying fish? How did it turn out? Thank you!! Excellent video!!
So what is considered the best air fryer on the market currently? I bought the one from bed bath bc of the 20% power air fryer but Im worried if its the best one when compared to the phillips? I want something that will last. If i can get a phillips for 50 bux more & its better and will last longer its worth the extra money considering the power air fryer as seen on tv from bed bath only had a 60 day money back....
How much does this one cost? Great review thank you!
Wow!! u are really good at this review thing!!
Thanks, Brian 😀
Enjoyed facts and how to guide. I will go try frying chicken. Little nervous with new cookers. everything is fast and HOT. People don't want to be in the kitchen all day. ME too!!
Great video, thank you !
👍😀
THANK YOU SO MUCH!👍💗
Great presentation thank you
Glad you liked it 😀👍
Great video
this is a great air fryer-but found non stick coating started to remove in 2 uses-basket after a few more-looks awful now-although a couple of months old-going back to phillips-i was even hand washing to help-brilliant-but coating won't last!
Thanks for sharing 😀
Thank you I’m expecting mine on Monday.
👍😀
Haha a year later I'm expecting mine this coming Monday
@@msbrt8638 I got mine today! would love your review. What do you think? x
It cooks well, however, over time the gold coating in the inside bottom of the fryer basket bubbles and flakes off.
Do you prefer this model to the Bog Boss that you reviewed some time ago?
very useful video x
You did a great Job!
Thanks 😀
You have review of the Ninja one too, which one appeared better in your opinion?
Just bought mine!
😀
Maximum 200 °C works for me. To be damaged? Power AirFryer XL -(2,3Liter) ? :((
Thank you. Very informative and thorough review.
Glad you liked it 😀
What is the rubber bit at the bottom on the outer basket?...there is a small screw in it
Good video informative and straight to the point no waffling on.
😀👍
Thanks!
Chicken looks dope
Which one is better power or ninja I seen both your videos which one will you recomend?
I am sold I will be buying one soon
Thank you for very good review I have but I’m not ysed thanks for help
😀👍
to get the fries better and more evenly cooked try shaking a few times while taking the basket out and flipping the fries over this works for me okay and all the fries are equally cooked .
Can I use it to fry pork chops?
How do I get a users guide and can you order another basket
Thank you
Can I fry a 2 inches wide and 12i nches long and how long to cook it
Just bought it yesterday. Thank you. I was wondering what the divider was in the first place.
😀👍
Got one 2day... was wondering myself.. lol
Hey can I ask you is still working for you? Is there any problems with it? I'm planning to get one this valentine
@@davidmendez9293 sorry just now seeing this. I don’t like it. I got a better from Amazon this particular one although those the work the basket the gold or copper eventually starts coming off. But it was good while I had it.
Is okay I didn't buy it in the end. I want to get a Cosori they seem better, thanks so much for letting me know! 🙏
this might be one of the OG air fyrers for the consumer.
My friend got me this....I love it
👍
Good friend!
Great Reviewed. I did all the steps for French fries, took it out, Shake it and put them back in. After is done it got burned 😭😭😭? What happened?
I have a Power one, we generally use fries we bought from the grocery store that are partly cooked. If you used that type and put it on the set temps and for the suggested time it would have been too long and have burned them. A lot of cooking/baking/frying in the air fryer is trial and error. What works in one brand has to be on a different temp and time than another one. When half way done, we take our fries out, used a wooden spoon to stir them up so they are more evenly mixed. They come out really, really good. Pork chops, chicken, hamburgers, Stromboli, baked potatoes and much more.
Hi Kelvin, it could that your fries required less time to cook. The cooking time depends on the thickness of the fries and type of fries. Try cooking them for less time and I hope that works :)
oh ok thank you
Great unit for french fries, but you need to have the right technique. First cut your potatoes into fries and briefly boil them for 3-4 mins, then drain them and add a tbsp of oil + salt and any other seasoning such as paprika. By boiling them first will make them absorb the seasoning much better and will help achieve a crispy outside and a fluffy inside. Then toss and put in the air fryer. The key to have great fries is to toss them every 3-4 minutes to ensure you get an even golden crispiness for the whole batch, thus avoiding ending up with uncooked and burns chips at the end.
Will this machine cook a chuck roast.....??
Thank you so much
😀
+ bestkitchenreviews, do you find it's quite easy to clean it Anita ?
Hi Carol, yes it's easy to clean since the fry basket is non-stick. Much easier than the steel mesh baskets in other air fryers 😀
Yes I find that also. I wanted your opinion. Thank you for responding Anita
2 years later does the power air fryer XL still work/function?
I think the fries just needed a good turning with tongs. When you shook them they just didn’t move enough.
Tong here. I was called?
🤣🤣🤣
I agree. They needed shaken up a little more evenly. Plus, they should have been sprayed with a little oil. Also, could have used more seasonings, there are many out there, and you can get creative.
@@TongUtube Hilarious. Thank you!
@@virtualgrace251No problem, I am dedicated to turning those fries🍟
Here's a tip for doing french fries that are made from fresh potatoes. Microwave them first for about 6-9 minutes (depending on the strength of your microwave) and then use the AirFryer. Works every time with great results.
Thanks for sharing 😀
Great tip thanks
Even easier, use tongs to thoroughly mix the fries about halfway through. Also, add a few minutes to the cooking time.
@@pjamese3 Tong here, I was called.
Like the review but suggest using a meat thermometer on large pieces of chicken like you cooked.
+mzmarquette 😀
If you cook enough you won't need it. Some people get scared if chicken. I know when mine is done
Why has my red light stopped coming on only the blue fan. Light is on I only bough it 2 days ago...
I bought a Power AirFryer XL in April 2019 and fell in love with it at first use and have used it nearly every day since. Fast forward to October 2019, and suddenly the fan/motor noise isn't as loud (which you'd think would be nice, but clearly indicates a problem), things aren't as browned when the timer runs out, and when I remove the basket from the machine to shake it, the motor keeps running. I've tried cleaning it, but it made no difference. I was stunned to see it only has a 60 day warranty, and even if it were still under warranty, it would cost me $19.99 to get the company's warranty service. I will be replacing this air fryer in the near future (Black Friday sales, anybody?), but certainly not with another ASOTV Power AirFryer product. My next air fryer will be purchased based on deep research and not just price and how many stars it got on the seller site.
Seen it at target for Black Friday $49.99
Do you have any updates on how well the Power AirFryer XL has performed and lasted after having it for a year? I'm reading conflicting views on Amazon. Thank you! Your chicken looked outstanding!!!!
This was a gift for Christmas 2017 and I love it. It's held up really well. It's fairly easy to clean (although bits of food do get stuck to the basket. I'm no great cook, but I make my own fries and the grandkids love them. Instead of deep frying, grilling or oven baking chicken, I can use the air fryer and cook them in half the time without heating up the whole house. I even made a fall apart tender beef roast. I recently found accessories for this air fryer and I'm ordering wire frames to cook food on multi layers.
The body of the cooker looks as new as the day I opened the box.
@@pjamese3 see, this is something what people call a 'review'.
After 6 months of moderate use, the copper coating started to peel. It’s so bad that it’s coming off the fry basket by sticking to the food. I do not recommend!
@prdawg Did you use any abrasive utensils on the basket or clean it with rough scouring pads?
Hi how do you chnage it to 400f mine only goes uptown 200 c
400 F is 200 C 😁
How do I get the books that come with the fryer? I have a new fryer and there are no books.
I'm not bestkitchenreviews, but I can give my opinion, hope it helps. It might depend on what brand you bought and where you bought it. If it is a Power XL check the box it came in and see if it says it includes a book, if it does and you didn't get one, you should contact who you bought it from or the company. I bought mine at Sam's Club and there was a book, spritzer (for olive oil) and a barrel pan with divider.
Hi Viola, like Janna said below, you can contact the company for the books. There are also recipes available at their website -www.powerairfryer.com/recipes-power-airfryer-xl.php
Dropped the pan and hadle broke would like somebody to tell me where I can buy new handle looked everywhere 😡
So what kind of oil should I mix with food on this fryer
Reg
Hi, you can use most types of oil, I generally use canola or vegetable since I want a mild tasting oil 😀
@@bestkitchenreviews thanks this will help ,ill get some and retry .
Reg
Avocado oil is pretty good, high smoke point, and not much flavor.
