***IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM AUGUST 2021: Septic tank Sam's identity has been confirmed as Gordon Edwin Sanderson of Edmonton, born in Manitoba in October of 1950. As a child in the 1960s, he was placed into foster care during what was called the "60s Scoop" when Aboriginal children were taken from their parents and put into the child welfare system. He was reported missing by his sister in the 1980s and had spent his life in trouble with the law and dealing with addiction. The last time anyone heard from him, he planned to visit his younger brother in Calgary, but never made it. His murder is still unsolved.

It really hasn't! Absolutely iconic in a good way, and I like most of this channels vids, but...
I just wish his occasional weird mispronunciations would change, unlike his voice lol. I'm not talking about British vs American English differences, or his particular accent, but just the way he nonsensically butchers things sometimes. That and alsobwhen his phrasing for a sentence is completely wrong, like he doesn't group the words together correctly while reading it aloud. That last part *has* improved over the years I've been watching top5s though!
Overall his voice is iconic, and I obviously keep coming back!

You’re talking about parents in the beginning of the century. Parents from back then were notoriously absent minded of their children. Child mortality rates were high because kids were virtually unsupervised 100% of the time.
Parents may have loved their children, but they did not give a fuck about their kids. Not compared to people today. Hell, even people from 50 years ago think kids today are cared for too much, because they grew up with pretty mild neglect and That was after a few decades of social progress Improved parent/child relationships.
One of the funny yet sad statistics is that there are not more child abduction/child predators today than there ever was at any other point in history. Parents just actually give a shit and pay attention now. People 100 years ago used to just let their kids get raped all the damn time and didn’t care or didn’t believe when their kids said something. Today, someone even looks at your kid a little weird and they can get labeled as a sex offender. It’s a different world entirely.

He was already inside with his door closed and locked, according to Top5s. A neighbour heard sounds of a struggle and notified police. A transom window was discovered open with a broken hinge that only a child could slip through- or someone slender and agile. The interior was neat and orderly. No weapon or spent cartridges were discovered, there was no sign of a struggle and nothing of value missing. No finger prints but the victims were present, the wounds indicate his hand was shot at close range- likely a defensive action at the sight of the gun as the next shots were in his chest, which proved fatal.
I looked around at some other discussions of this case and there is a lot of conflicting information. Obsolete Oddity (UA-camr) states information that Isidor's apartment was above the laundry, Top5s says next to it and Morbidology (website) says he used his apartment for his laundry business. Morbidology also states this:
"Shortly after Fink returned home at around 10PM, Mrs. Locklan Smith, who lived in the apartment next to his, ran to the Harlem police station to report hearing some loud quick shots - from a gun, she was sure - followed by a hard thud.
"The first officer on the scene was patrolman, Albert Kattenborn, who discovered that the door was locked from the inside. He decided to attempt to enter via the small window which was on top of the front door but found that it been nailed shut from the inside. Kattenborn smashed the small window. However, it was much too small for any average-sized adult to fit through, and thus he sent a small boy who was in the crowd that had now congregated outside the apartment to crawl through the window and unlock the door."
Both Morbidology and the NY Times provide information not discussed on YT, namely that the neighbour ran for help and that a patrolman arrived on the scene sometime afterward. The distance from Fink's shop to the 26th Precinct, the closest police station to Fink's apartment/business is 1.2 miles. Unless Jesse Owens was the one who made the dash to the cop shop, it would have taken at least 3 minutes for the woman to have run there, possibly as much as 5 minutes. It would have then taken at least 3 minutes before any patrol officer would be dispatched. Then there is a return trip back. So, overall, it likely took at minimum 10 minutes to bring police back.
So far, the only source stating that the transom was nailed shut is Morbidology. No other source mentions a nailed shut transom but all the rest, including the NY Times, state there was a broken hinge on the transom. No other source has a broken window and only 2 sources have an open transom window. What also isn't mentioned _except_ in the NY Times source is that Fink's "only friend" had been in the shop earlier that night, that he later reported to police that a Black couple were in Fink's "seeing if they could buy unclaimed underwear". Considering this was Harlem at the dawning of the Great Depression and the rampant racism present in the US (and pretty much everywhere the majority of the population was white), associating crime with Black folks was as common as day and night.
The only plausible explanation is that Fink and his "friend" argued and Fink attempted to wrest the gun from the other man's hand, alerting his neighbour who went for help over a mile away. The other man shot Fink through the left hand as Fink was either gripping the barrel to get it away from his "friend" or, as I mentioned, as a result of a reflexive defensive gesture. It is not4ed that Fink was shot in the left side of his chest twice, but not where in the left side of his chest. If no artery or the heart itself was hit, Fink could easily have bolted the door after his killer left, staggered to the back room and collapsed. It's likely that one of the shots to the left chest is from the bullet that went through Fink's left hand and the other happened before or after that. We also have no information normally found in crime scene investigations: blood spatter/droplets, direction of said blood evidence, amount of blood pooled around the body, etc. There were no shell casings because, at the time, revolvers were common and easily obtained, most of which were anything from .22 caliber to .45 caliber. We also don't know what the weather was like (I can't find anything for that location prior to 1930) so we don't know what Fink was wearing for clothing outside- he _had_ just returned from delivering laundry. We have basically just the act itself as seen by the results of said act. We don't have any concrete evidence on who actually committed the murder or what their motive was. Yes, you answered it all far more succinctly but I thought I'd throw in a little more.

In other videos on the boat (Sara Jo) found on the previously surveyed island, commenters who said they worked in the survey industry claimed it wasn’t that surprising the boat wasn’t noted by the surveyors. They said that there are some (not all, just a few) who take shortcuts on survey work by basically just looking at a few aerial photos and guessing the rest. It is called a “bar stool survey” and apparently happens, especially for work in remote areas that isn’t really critical.

The corpse in the field was likely that of Pauline, and she and the male whose head was found at the scene were likely murdered by the same perp (possibly a serial killer). The killer was undoubtedly an organized one, since the clothes were neatly folded and placed nearby. This suggests he was likely intelligent and not at all psychotic.
