Finally she goes for a short space comes in at a sharp angle and after straightening up we are blocking the road and we have chosen a space with a van parked to obscure our view. To get out of this fiasco she should reverse and get closer to the kerb. About five minutes later we abort the manoeuvre. Her observation technique was bewildering we wait ages for a safe opportunity to move then eventually a safe opportunity occurs so then we start looking around by the time we finish looking the opportunity has gone.

I remember the days of not using my mirrors as a learner - she needs quite a bit more practice. Biggest thing that got me passing first time was practicing in my own car. It's essential. Now, I use my mirrors all the time and wonder how I ever drove without them!
You may have answered this in another video, but why are you using a custom Australian voice for the sat nav? Nothing against any accent, but I would have thought this would be a little distracting (for learners), especially with the humour/comedy element.
I wonder if their local centre uses the same voice for some reason. I had my test this month and it was just the default British female voice, which my instructor used so that practice matched as closely as possible. I'd personally find it a little offputting if the voice on the day of the actual test changed from what I was used to, especially if I was otherwise nervous, it would be another thing that would just kind of reinforce that what you're doing is different and more significant.
That's how people are taught to check the gear stick is in neutral, yea maybe not as violently as she shook it but pushing it side to side suggests it's in neutral and gives extra confirmation of it
Not sure how it works there, but I think it's useless to check mirrors before signal. More logical would be to put the signal and judge from there on, check mirrors. Or am I just crazy?
if there’s a car behind you or beside you and you just signal they’re going to think you’re about to pull out in front of them, causing them to slow down, but if you check your mirrors, wait till they’ve passed, then signal, then you haven’t affected anyone :)

If I check my mirrors and it's safe, from that time to the time I put the signal, the situation can change and have to check again, slowing the traffic down because I did not make my mind. Seems more rational to put the signal and check everything from there. The cars behind you MUST have a nice distance anyways and they can pass you anytime. Anyways, rules might differ around the world.
@@Carlos94016 check your mirrors again if the situation changes. It’s not black or white but really u check the mirrors or observe to see if it’s safe or if it’s worth signalling. If u use a roundabout for example and decide to signal before checking if it’s safe to move over when passing the penultimate exit the traffic over the round about will see u attempting to exit and will pull out. If a car is in the lane beside u and u then decide it’s not safe, u have already signaled and traffic is already attempting to pull out bc u didn’t look to see if it was safe. Checking after signalling doesn’t make sense to me at all. Also if someone is closely following u, u wouldn’t know how to time your signal correctly if u don’t observe or check your mirrors first. If someone is tail gating u need to slow and signal earlier than you would usually do u don’t get hit from behind or whatever. You won’t know that if u don’t check your mirror before signaling. The signal is to warn said driver, hey I’m slowing down to turn so you should probably back off. Ppl should be at a safe distance but some ppl are just dick heads. I suggest watching Ashley Neal’s content. His explanations make more sense. Rohit even explained a good example in the debrief

its down to examiner discretion, usually if you miss a spot its usually not a problem but if you keep on missing safe gaps then yes it will become a serious if your holding up traffic behind
