My grandparents grew up in La Grange and I've always loved this song. Wish I had been at this show. Checking out all this videos following Dusty's passing is reminding how incredibly great this band is and how uniquely Texas.
I was playing in a blues dive bar, hitting the bass because I had one. This cat came in and offered to take over on the bass, and let me do my guitar thang. Around 3 AM, he said 'We both want it. Let's do it. Fast shuffle.' So I played La Grange with Dusty Hill.
I'd picked up the pinch harmonics from Jimmy Don Smith. Some of the slouch from Kenny Cordray, ?And I knew his brother Rocky Hill,
I was there!!!

As a kid growing up in Texas and remembering guys talking about the'Chicken Ranch' in La Grange.Always wanted to go to the best kept secret in Texas.Because they had a lot of nice girls out there.

This song put LaGrange on the Map! This song put Texas on the Globe! Marvin Zindler just Exsasperated the gloriousness of the shack that just moved down the road!
A lot of people (myself included) are still not happy with what Maaaaarvin Zindler did. His investigation was not so much about the prostitution but the allegations of bribery and organized crime involvement.
And rock music has just had its "Meta" moment.
