i ve just gotten to the part with Alex, returning to Effy in a dogs body... holly hell... i am shedding tears. It is an ultimate picture of loyalty and love clashing with betrayal.
I cant belive all the whiners about this book its great thanks. If you dont like this free book listen the another genre or get up off your butt and buy a book.🤣
It being free is nice but that doesn't automatically make it a great book or people who dislike it whiners. If u were given a turd sandwich for free would u eat it with a smile cause its free?
@@MrArrow54 You have it all wrong mate....if sandwiches were free i would not choose the turd sandwich because that is not my taste...now as you speak i am assuming you would be the one to pick the turd sandwich and yes it would make me smile when you whinge about shit tasting free food. I choose the cheese sandwich as thats my choice and if it was great i would say so like i did for the great free book.
ok this book sucks, i really tried, and there were great moments in this and the last book that got me here, but its just not worth it. Effy is horrible, as a person, and many other characters fall into similar issues. just stop and think, if you met these people in real life, and were with them for prolonged periods of time. You would hate them, or at least try and get away from them, and would most certainly not want to befriend them. Also the main character befriending Sonyia was also dumb, I get that she was sympathetic, and she used some magic on his mind, but he should have at least not wanted to be in contact with her. If someone is horrible to you for as long as you know them, you don't them accept that all there faults were because they were irritable. If someone is irritable or a day or a month, and they later come and apologies and give a good reason to explain their behavior, then its easy to forgive someone, and even with her extreme circumstance, in less than like 2 weeks he considered her a friend, and during those two weeks all she did was patronize him, along with Effy, who along with Sonyia has that dumb trope a lot of authors have for female characters where they are all super sarcastic, or patronizing or trying to drudge up trouble or a reaction at all times. so in summary, because I kind of went on a rant there, many of the characters who the author says are so great and/or deserving of sympathy continue to be less than friendly with the main character, if I had people like that in my life, the only thing either of them (mainly Effy, ) could be complemented for was that they tried to get others to accept them, such as with the party in the first book. Two huge POV characters that between the both of them are not sympathetic, rude or patronizing at most times, at least one of them is completely unreliable (Effy running to catch Sonyina with Cleave (also unreliable at least seeing as the one time someone needed help he ran away to get revenge when at least two people could have died without him) instead of joining Steven in helping) with no clever wit or comedic relief at all, and one of them not even being a villan, its unreasonable for the author to assume someone could enjoy half of the chapters that include those characters. This book is as good as the first one, and if you can get past some glaring flaws with some of the characters, I could see you really enjoying this book and most likely the rest of the series, perhaps though I am just spoiled by great character work done by authors with more experience.
Ridiculous that they stole his bracelet. Why would he allow it. The chick who gave it to him is basically a princess and now the legit ruler yet she has no status. The class system seems only to exist for who ever claims to be king.
The king was her great uncle so shes not a princess and he was a temporary ruler not the true king. He was appointed by the last king to oversee the transition of power should he die during the war. She has no authority and taking a powerful artifact out of the hands of a mage in training seems like a logical move for any school. Especially considering the fact he has proven himself to be pretty damn reckless. Remember the first book where he was pulling the fire towards himself and the other students during training lol
The action/fight scenes are not good. Hard to follow and not reasonable. The magic system is cool but the characters have no substance. All these kids at academy are sons and daughters of the aristocracy? Why does one guy have power to over throw government but not a school? So much stuff makes no sense.
@@jflagor in the same vein, why does the main character just accept Soynia in the first book, from what we hear she was horrible to him and her explanation to him was that she was irritable. like really? Years of horrible treatment are forgotten and forgiven because she was irritable. I could understand if that happened over weeks or months, but it was like day 2 or something of seeing her after his whole life if her being awful to him.
@@jflagoryour reading comprehension needs work. Its a military school most of the kids are commoners not aristocracy. The guy has the power to overthrow the government but not the school because his coup in the capitol succeeded and his army sent to the military academy was beaten back. He doesn't automatically gain the countries loyalty after killing the king. Thats pretty standard medieval logic. This is hardly a perfect book but your gripes are illogical.
@@EpicUrethradidnt u state in ur long essay post that u knew he was being manipulated by her psychic abilities. It should be easy to understand how he can overlook her crazy past. Not only was she very different then how she was b4, she was manipulating him to view her as an old friend. Which wouldnt be too hard given how powerful she is. Also he tested her a few times when they reunited to see if she would act out like she used to, even saying she used to be like a rabid dog to gage her reaction. I hate her character but she played them nicely when at the academy. My issue with the writer is trying to write a redemption arc for a character who would have made a better villain. Had basen destroyed her mothers soul during his portal jumps we could have had a crazy op witch hunting him throughout the war instead of alex the dog.
Well told... very gripping story . Wanting to never stop listening..
Wtf sanya. How could she do that to Alex? She is an actual witch now.
Update: this is getting painful

I hate effy . I can't believe desil's her son.
the worst part is i picture her as effy from skins , only other "effy" i have ever heard of.

Just like every other book series father you get away from the original the more diluted and more stupid side stories it has
Yep yep that's true
Absolutely 💯 agreed
This became rubbish 🗑
