- In this video I encourage you to memorize three more great phrases that will help you learn how flatpicking lines are built. Once you memorize these ideas you can use them in countless tunes and in endless places. The three ideas in this video are:
1) Arkansas Traveler tag lick
2) Billy in the Lowground style melody idea
3) Bluegrass/Mandolin inspired phrase

Thank you ! I love your approach to teaching, so practical
You're a very good teacher, It's very clear and funny to practice ! Verry good job , thank you very much 😊
Hell yeah man, this is awesome stuff for the folks starting out, and with a great spirit.
So I just went back and watched your Fiddle tune phrasing part 1. The last 10 minutes or so was a huge eureka moment when you talked about using the 3 pickup notes to achieve the steady flow of eighth notes 🤯. That’s great stuff man. Also, talking about the intermingling of of the different scale degrees while creating phrases was super interesting. Hoping there’s a Part 2 coming sometime in the future. Thanks again man ❤
I'm so glad you are getting stuff out of these videos! You are probably already connecting fiddle tune phrases using the 3 pickup note concept. More videos coming :)
Hey, I know this guy!
Awesome video with great information . Thank you Sir Mick!
Great review of years of lessons.
These lessons are pure gold! The way he breaks things down and then connect it all back together is truly valuable! And did you all see how much musical mileage he got out of ONE NOTE in Sweet Georgia Brown in the slides up the neck at 5:12?? Keep it coming!!!
Awesome sauce ! Thanks for posting .
Love this content Mickey!!!! Always looking forward to your videos. Thank you!
It is a good exercise for demystifying the fretboard, and having more ammo to keep things rolling. I like the third one best. Keep em coming Mickey, thanks.

Doc and Merle Watson used to play Sweet Georgia Brown, and they tore through it like a bullet train… very cool :) great video by the way!
My friend, is there any obstacle for me to learn bluegrass, just a standard reed (auternada) and I learned the authentic reed 30 years ago!
Hello. This was my first time seeing one of your videos. Love the content, although for a late beginner, I feel that tabs or an actual instruction video would be more helpful. Not sure if I am your target audience.
If you like this video you are definitely not too far from my target 😎
If you shoot me an email I can send you tabs. Thank you for watching !
