  • I mean it this time...I will start posting new videos! In this video I encourage you to memorize these four ideas over G, C, and D.
    1) Classic G Run (my way of doing it)
    2) Fiddle style Doc inspired idea
    3) Monroe mandolin inspired idea
    4) Chromatic flatpicking idea
    This lesson does not include much theory or technique concepts -- rather, the intention is for you to learn and memorize these specific ideas. This way we can use these lines to create variations in the future.

    I loved this lesson. It is already showing up in my improvisation when I might not have played the tune before and everyone is looking at me to play something that fits somewhat tastefully, lol. I’m taking online lessons with Mickey and he has helped me a bunch already.

    Nice nuts and bolts lesson Mickey. I like the pause before the Munroe lick, so it ends in time. I also noticed that you have a built in sense of dynamics, highlighting the big notes, at the right times.

      How do I find the G, C, D progression you’re using on the Strum Machine app?

    • @MickeyAbraham2022
      @MickeyAbraham2022  7 днів тому +1

      @@kyoaty you can create your own strum machine songs. I called this one G Jam 1.
      But, even if you didn’t create it yourself, there are plenty of Bluegrass standards that use this same progression- like Blue Ridge cabin home.

    • @kyoaty
      @kyoaty 7 днів тому

      @@MickeyAbraham2022 that’s what I was wondering -if there was a standard that used that progression
      I see now after messing around with the app how to create progressions.
      It’s a great tool and I really enjoy your instructional style, thank you
      Look forward to more but, I’m in no hurry these will keep me busy for quite some time

    Hi Mickey. This, and the follow up, are awesome. I am going to be working on these starting today. Love this way of being clinical but having it applicable to improvising. It seems simple but trying to remember them all to mix it up in the fly will be where the rubber hits the road. Wish me luck!
    Btw, and this is my first impression - I really like how you are explaining and demonstrating it all. Very clear and easy to understand how to develop this foundational skill. My only wish, and this is relatively small. Is that you play each example a few times through to make it easier to play along a couple of times to get it down.
