  • The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-105 is commonly known as the "Spiral" due to the design characteristics of the spaceplane. The nickname is derived from the distinctive spiral-shaped wings or lifting body design that was a key feature of the aircraft. This design was intended to provide enhanced aerodynamic performance during reentry into Earth's atmosphere.
The lifting body design of the MiG-105 deviated from traditional winged aircraft configurations. Instead of conventional wings, the aircraft's fuselage itself contributed to lift during reentry. The shape of the lifting body resembled a spiral or corkscrew, and this unique feature earned the aircraft its nickname.

NASA lifting body M2-F3, and also the Airbus 'Sagitta', obtained adequate stability by adding a third central fin to the wingtip surfaces.
'Dream chaser' is in this line.
CoG position is pivotal in handling features of this type of lifting bodies.
You could build one in concrete, in your own backyard. For a Kart, 4 mm body thickness was enough (Karlsruhe tech)
Propulsion not difficult: Pulsejets for reaching enough Airspeed, then a Lorin Ramjet.
To fly this, you better start with radiocontrol and FPV.
