Windows are literally falling off their planes mid-air. Why did anyone expect their spaceships to be any better?
Did you saw what happened yesterday on a Korea 737 MAX on it's way to taiwan ? It falled 8 kilometers of altitude in 15 minutes, 17 injured. This is ridiculous that look like the same thing that happened in 2018

'Something Weird Is Happening With Boeing's Starliner' There's nothing weird about it. It's what people normally call FAILURE.
Boeing finds this term offensive and would like to identify otherwise
oh it's more than that when you're at 214 miles above the Earth.
Time for an awkward call to the Russians to 'borrow' a Soyuz Capsule!
People who aren't engineers. People like you? Most aerospace hardware I'm aware of has dozens of issues to be resolved early on -- the Shuttle had hundreds. Non-specialists are simply ignorant that such is the norm.
@@timewa851 If Starliner was unable to return for whatever reason, I'd have to believe that Dragon would go up to retrieve them if available because it's probably cheaper but I'm sure they'll figure it out and Starliner will return home after the unscheduled "tests".

From the former slogan if it isn't Boeing I ain't going.
Damn. I just posted a similar comment, but yours is better 👍
You’ll return home in pieces after reentry.☝️
Minor correction: Boeing had 5 ADDITIONAL years to get their ship together. That was after an initial 5 years of development.
And almost double the money of their competitor.
And using designs and tech from the '60's
And to be perfectly fair, when commercial crew contracts were awarded, SpaceX had already built and launched a fresh new design for an ISS dockable capsule and already had plans to make it crew ready regardless of NASA funding. I don't think SpaceX would have completed Crew Dragon in the time they did if they weren't already as ahead as they were. On the flip side, I kinda feel like Boeing may have felt they needed to rush to catch up and stay on top of the, then, underdog launch provider. Careful and steady wins the race.
@@wesplybon9510SpaceX is a MUCH BETTER run company and blows Boeing away. Boeing needs to get their shite together and Quick!
@@bbeen40does that include payoffs to politicians?
Only Boeing can get away with 2 billion over budget, failure in space, and still have a contract !!!!!
This is nothing unusual. Boeing is a defense contractor.
I mean NASA already paid for Starliner and they want it. This was a fixed price contract and 1 - NASA has already paid and 2 - Boeing needs to deliver what was paid for.
@@laughingkor8643Yes, only in America. Other countries would find other contractors.
@@laughingkor8643SpaceX isn’t a defense company & it did a lot better. Over 20 SpaceX Dragon capsules have made the trip to the ISS & return without incident.
Kickbacks 💸
3 weeks and they still need to collect data means 1 of 3 things:
1) More problems are cropping up adding to the complexity
2) it's the same problem but they still have no idea what's going on
3)Nothing has changed but they have lied about the severity of the problem and are stalling until something can be figured out.
Another issue is the ISS spacewalk was postponed because of a cooling leak in our ancient Space Suits that no one seems to be able to replace in a reasonable amount of time or at a reasonable price point. Is your memory so bad that you have forgotten how they had to keep postponing the SpaceX test flights to the ISS because of all the scheduling conflicts?
@@i-love-space390 I'm sorry is that to me?
Boeing is just making excuses. Those astronauts must be stressing their buts off.
Buds?!
When the Soyuz return vehicles had failues while attached, they took a couple of the cosmonaut seats from the dead Soyuz and mounted them inside one of the Dragons. The Dragon can handle 7 people if the situation comes up.

They're built of sterner stuff. They know what the back-up options are.

Time to take prudent precautions. Send the Starliner off on its own and have SpaceX come and get the astronauts. This isn’t/wasn’t going well and I don’t think things will change.
😃😀😃😄😆🤣 SpaseX is as safe as Boeings Airplanes
Rather ride the Starship on it's next test than go back down in a Boeing made Death trap.
This has to be what they are discussing. Do they trust Starliners thrusters and maneuvering systems enough to put a manned crew inside it for re-entry? I think no matter what happens, Starliner is done. This will be its last flight. Boeing is seeing increasing bi-partisan disdain on Capital Hill. I can almost guarantee that they will be debating cutting further Starliner funding. And Boeing wants to see the back end of it. It was a fixed price contract that they are upside down on. They’ve already burned through what they were paid. But need to complete the contract on their dime or face massive penalties. Remember Boeing got 2-3x what SpaceX got from Dragon. If Starliner comes home empty Boeing almost certainly gets hit with huge contract penalties as NASA washes its hands of the thing. If the 2 doomed souls somehow make it back to earth they can at least claim enough success to avoid any contract penalties when it gets cut for budget reasons. And let’s not forget, they need to qualify it on a new Rocket System regardless. Because Boeing used Russian Engines.
@@petarpetrovic2060 Are you trying to insult SpaceX or build Boeing up?
@@jarodmorris4408 I concur that sounds like an insult to me and I don’t like it
If they are data driven, why did they launch with a helium leaks.
I think they mean BS driven
Same mentality that NASA had that led to the Challenger disaster. They had data that should the O-Rings were not validated for performance at the existing launch temperatures. They made the decision based upon schedule pressure, ignoring existing data and engineering push back. A company that is pushing the envelopes of safety cannot have that sort of mentality.
because the one they had was manageable. The others appeared during the flight
To learn.
That is also how spaceX is doing thing. They try and improve instead of building a "perfect" version on the first go.
While "try, learn, improve, repeat" is not the usual way of boeing/NASA of doing things, I assume it is not the first time they use sub-nominal situation to learn.
And NASA need at least 2 differents vehicules to service the space station. If a major flaw is found in a design (like we saw on the space shuttle), they can't afford to be without a launch vehicule. Having 2 or more design is the way to go.
Finaly, while I am not that good at reading feelings, I sense a lot of hostility against Boeing in the comments. I am also a SpaceX fan, but a successfull Starliner diminish in nothing the incredible accomplishments of SpaceX.
Boeing stock price is also one of the data being considered ;)
Boeing is not a company that is data driven. You can't have issues and then say "we are letting data drive our decisions". To be a data driven company, it is a core component from the start of any project or company, not just when you need it.
Someone making too much sense.... beware of Boeing hitman

Always buy 3M electrical tape. They bought it on TEMU and got caught.
Just upgrade the software, and don't tell the pilots

Boeing is bullshitting. Being a rocket scientist myself, I can assure you they know the root cause. But fixing it would require firing people fairly high up the hierarchy, and companies like Boeing almost never do that. They need time to concoct a semi-convincing cover story. Fact is, a human-rated capsule has a design process 10 times more anal than an airliner's, with traceability of decisions and actions all the way down to single lines of code or individual screws. Boeing would rather protect a few employees who don't deserve their jobs, than do the right thing... because Boeing execs set the rules and they are exactly the kind of person who would need to get fired. FFS even an upstart like Musk managed to make a reliable space capsule while fighting flame wars on social networks. French Guyana is NOT a French colony. It is a remote department and fully a part of France.
With the problems with starliner becoming more evident, its not hard to understand how NASA's negligence led to the deaths of multiple astronauts in the Columbia and challenger tragedies. You would think that they'd be a little more cautious with manned spacecraft by this point. But i guess when the shot callers are personally benefitting from their stock holdings in certain companies, they will continue to promote those companies as much as possible, even at the risk to the lives of others.
Those were from circumstances that were not avoidable. NASA is not the issue here, it's Boeing and their corrupt CEO's.
Butch and Suni missed being on the ISS so much, they left helium valves open knowing that it would mean an extended stay.
It's just broken...jettison it and send a SpaceX capsule up to get the crew back to Earth.
That is the only sane response. Call Elon, get a commitment then attempt sending Starliner back empty. They cannot look much worse. The mission has already failed. It can only get worse from here. This is what happens when two competing companies build the same product without the full benefits of lessons learned. This is not a game! Boeing is getting close to never recovering their name whereas they could look safety conscious by getting Dragon to bring back the astronauts safely. It would go a long way with me showing they are more concerned with human life versus the almighty dollar. Right now I would not trust anything that went up higher that 2 ft above ground level made by this company.
It may even be too dangerous to jettison because with the malfunctioning thrusters it could destroy the ISS as soon as it‘s not attached securely.

@@DavidC-pg6ni We do know that, only a few out of 28 or so thrusters are failing.
@@cardboard9124”Failure is NOT an Option”
This company has screwed up for decades and is continuing on its path to self-destruction.
They are clearly NOT the best company in the Space Launch Industry anymore.
They aren’t even the best company in Commercial Aircraft Production anymore. There’s a REASON that their CEO has been dragged before Congress due to multiple Quality Failures on Multiple different product lines.
Doors falling off because they’re NOT bolted on.
Software causing crashes and near crashes.
Failure to TRAIN pilots to handle software to cheap out on fundamentally a new aircraft / system.
The Ridiculous Cost and Time Overruns on the Spacecraft.
The military issues with Boeing Flight systems and aircraft / other weapons systems we don’t hear about as much because the military tries to keep a lid on it.
No, Boeing literally used to be the BEST in the world.
No, they have failed massively on many fronts and many occasions.
There's talk of bringing them back on Dragon. It's not that easy. Those suits will not plug in to Dragon and they do not fit the seats. All of those suits are custom made to each individual. It's not a matter of devising an adapter. This was talked about a few months ago when Soyuz had problems and there was an American astronaut. They said in an emergency, like an evacuation, they would do it. Otherwise the risk is too high.
They are probably making adapters for connection as we wait. Or they already have them in preparation that thins issue could happen to either craft. There are a lot of things we do not know.
Nonsense. They HAVE the Astronauts measurements and could send up SpaceX suits in the Dragon for the two astronauts.
Quit thinking like a Luddite.
@@DavidC-pg6ni @DavidC-pg6ni You're right. I'm no expert. I watched a Scott Manley video I believe. Or it was Tim Dodd. They seem to know what they're talking about.
@@DavidC-pg6ni The comment sections are always fill with close minded Luddites.
All the more reason for a common suit, aren't NASA building yet another suit for Orion, the seats also can be a standard design the hot switching of the padding to suit different astronauts, heck they could even design a totally inflatable seat cushions system and you just set it by linking an astronauts profile (you'd need to use an inert gas and allow for inflation / deflation as loading on it would change so the system would need robust components for safety) but I'm sure we are at that level of technology for either method, interchangeable pads being the easiest and cheapest methods.
My son has twin 15 year old girls. I called the other night and asked him if he would be comfortable having his beloved daughters ride Dragon9 on a Falcon9 booster? Absolutely. How about Starliner? Not a chance! He casts a disapproving eye even on Boeing airliners.
Can we have a detailed video on the design of the surface module and other system components?
We'll do a thorough recap and breakdown once the Starliner gets home
Service module, not surface. Like Apollo.
Good video
Awesome vid
Thanks to bring true information, other channels are exaggerating the situation saying thinks like astronauts stranded and SpaceX rescue mission all to get clicks on the video
Yeah, I get really put off buy that kind of stuff. We've got to play the UA-cam game with the title and thumbnail, but we try to be cautious of ever crossing a line into nonsense. Do my best to make all of the content within the video as factual and reasonable as I can
@@TheSpaceRaceYTWould YOU ride back on that Boeing PoS? I would NOT at all. I would tweet at Elon and ask him how much for a Dragon Uber Ride!
@@DavidC-pg6ni All the problems that they had aren't critical but obviously are no good and cant be tolerated and yes the Crew Dragon is much better the Starliner is a disaster but the current situation is not as bad as some people paint it.
Geez, Boeing is behaving like these thrusters are still in the development stage, even though we have been using them for more than 60 years.
They need to set up the "Not my fault"
Please Boeing Engineers - Don't bring up poor quality control. There are too many suicides happening lately.
Nothing about Chang'e 6?
We've got a much more thorough video on that in the works, it's just taking a bit more time
A company that puts profit and shareholders first and safety last isn't a company you should risk your life with
Excellent update. Thanks
Right at 5:38 with video slowed down you can see the Chinese rocket start to tip over on touchdown just as the video cuts away.
Wow. Are you telling me you can't recognize the editing effect that is used to transition to the next scene? And see it as the rocket tipping over?
@@nima1287 I watched and studied it more than once, and yes I am aware of what editing glitches look like. My issue is, why was the video cut by the Chinese right at touchdown, the most anticipated and difficult phase? 1)Not tipping over at touchdown was the biggest hurdle Space X had to overcome. 2) The glitch showing the nose cone separating is not what I was looking at, the lower section starting to lean was my focus. 3) Could be an editing glitch, but not enough video to be 100% sure. 4) I don't trust the Chinese not to hide their failures from world view.
First 100 views here! The algorithm is feeding me with these videos. It has been my entertainment this month 😅
“Make space travel private” they said “it will be more efficient” they said.
They tried this with the internet too. Look how that shit turned out.
This makes a person wonder if the Starliner was made at the same plant that makes their planes.
Well actually, starliner has no issues. The engines that ROCKETDYNE made are failing

Relax man throughout history many crafts have endured catastrophic failures but this one did good all the way to the end and only 1 of 8 thrusters failed thats pretty good odds, also they even said it themselves they could bring the people back right now if they had to but are choosing to sift through all their data first
@@twitchy.mp3 that's what you say now until it ends up like Challenger..... Then at that point are you wrong or am I a fortune teller because Boeing's never care till why would they care about two people singly two people in space they don't they never did
