    I love the idea that growing up is like adding layers to your childhood self - perhaps we only get closer and closer to our final form the older we get

      Profound thought. That’s how I feel right now at 52. I’m kinda gradually finding my way back to innocence.
      And to Riza - thank you. You have inspired me to document the second half of my journey here on UA-cam.

    When i was four years old, i got my first friend. We often went playing outside and having fun. But after three years of having fun together, she had to move away. She doesn't even moved that far away. It was only 15 minutes away from there we lived, but as a kid i thought it would be universes away from us. So we never heard from each other for 11-12 years.
    The last summer had changed my life. I begun to have more fun with my friends and went more often outside. And i did one important thing. I cleaned my room because it was filled with dust. But in the moment, where i grabbed my book to clean it, there felt a picture out of the book. It was me and my childhood friend. And in the moment where i saw the picture, i promised myself to find her again through the internet. So i spent 4 hole days of my summer to find her. But after the hard work, i found her on Instagram. This was one year ago. Now i have a important friend again by my side. And the best thing is, she also dont forgot me and she also said that she already tried to find me but doesn't found me. But that also makes sense because I haven't given any private information about myself anywhere on the internet. At least the one you can see online.
    This was my little story. Im sure that nobody will read this, but i just wanted to write my story here. So if you read all this, have a nice day and live the life that you want to live. Peace out

    as someone who lost his childhood friend "as i remember he was the only friend i went through most of my life and i knew that no matter when that it will come a day that we we go a different ways but i never did except it will be "death" and everything does remind me of him. "i have no idea why im writing this in this youtube video. anyway i loved the video.

    Lovely video + vibe. Reminds me of a quote from the School of Life (re: why old friends matter): "We experience life from a succession of very different vantage points over the decades, but tend - understandably - to be preoccupied only with the present vista, forgetting the particular, incomplete but still crucial wisdom contained in earlier phases. Old friends are key activators of fascinating and valuable parts of the self that we need, but are always at risk of forgetting we need, in the blinkered present."

    • @WendyHtWang
      @WendyHtWang 8 місяців тому

      "I think catching up with someone who knew you from your past definitely puts perspective on how much has actually changed in your life since then."
      "When we were children, ... we were just free. No expectations, no shame, no guilt. We were just happy without all of the layers on top of that. And now we're trying to find our true selves behind that, like get to the same place where we were 10, 15 years ago. You always go back to like who you were as a kid eventually. ... just like an adult version of it. ... It's like that stage where you're out of school, right? You're not surrounded by people who you need to impress or to fit in. And you just go back to how you were when you were a kid, when you didn't care. But you also don't have a schedule. You don't have a routine, but you're trying to find: how do you be spontaneous, but also have structure."
      "...There is value in being intentional towards the life you want to live. Whether that's the things that you do for yourself, big or small, people you surround yourself with, or the experiences you seek out."

    What a pleasure and pride it is to listen and watch to a Filipina abroad who happens to be a niece of a BFF back here in the Philippines. At a very young age, she already has a lot of contributions here at UA-cam which will make one proud to be a Filipino. I admit I am already a fan of this young girl, and I am proud to identify (as a defense mechanism for my felt intellectual inadequacy) with her as a daughter of a "kababayan" I was so close to, and still is, when they were still living here in Calaca, Batangas, Philippines and even when they migrated abroad.

    Getting a new job? Going house hunting? I think Kariza is about maybe 25 in this video? You know how expensive real estate is in Canada? Not sure what kind of job she did before YouTubing full time but it seems there's some money here somehow behind the scenes before UA-cam. Maybe her parents appreciation on their house? Not that there's anything wrong with it (more power to her) but I'd like to know about that. Because I've had trouble finding the time and energy to live MY life after paying for all my dependants. Maybe supporting other people IS my life I guess. I've been to the Philippines (where her folks are from) and the poverty there is crushing. Maybe that's why Filipinos are one of the most successful immigrant populations in the US. I wonder if most of Riza's viewers are from the PH. So many there, trapped in brutal tropical poverty long for the "Life of Riza". The icy cold of wealthy Canada must look to them as the warm beaches and palm trees look to us who grew up in the north. And behind the scenes of Riza's videos, I can't help but imagine the most compelling story, is how her parents escaped the Philippines to provide such an abundant, comfortable, middle-class home for her to grow up in, and have the luxury to create such beautiful art. What an achievement! So many stories to tell here. Anyway Kariza, thank you for all your hard work. You are a beautiful woman and a very talented filmmaker and storyteller. I'm grateful for your gorgeous cinematic videos. Thank you for having the courage to put yourself out there. You are a powerful example for creative people like me! You go girl! Your work is inspiring!
