PHIL, Thanks for posting this. I have such a hard time explaining to people how steep and gnarly Windrock actually is. I feel this video does a super job at showing some "real" footage.
Trails you don't know, on a loaner bike, thats not perfect for some of the hits, following dudes that rip and still honking!! hitting most lines straight up NICE!!
From what I read in the pinkbike First Ride, the Helm is at least as good if not superior to the competitors. Especially for aggressive riders like Phil because it's well damped
As everybody knows, pov never gives you that "Oh Sh@@" feel. I was watching this and you cannot understand how steep it really is. These guys are all very good riders and were doing drops and rock stuff so smooth and fast it made the course look even more flat. Great Stuff.
Going to windrock soon to go off roading, had no idea the bike trails were this awesome! Looks like a dual purpose trip coming up. Thanks for posting this video Phil!
Amazing Trail! Very inspirational as I'm about to start a trail system in Eastern Oklahoma in an area that this trail was very reminiscent of. Very rocky and steep.
We have an old mine that is a MTB park now here in Anderson, IN. Its a lot of uphill and downhill, mostly the piles of earth they moved and piled create a lot of whoop sections or uphills and downhills that allow you to keep your momentum going down and using the speed to get back up easily
Windrock has been on my list for a long time... I never manage to go further south than Snowshoe. Real nice of Dakotah to let you borrow a bike, but damn that thing is noisy!
On your live stream I commented about putting a BB spacer to space the drive side crank out so the chainring doesn't hit the frame . This will 100% work . Do not machine the frame down as the wall thickness might not be enough .
I'm in Knoxville and have been looking for people to ride with. I've been working on setting up a Facebook page for the area riders : facebook.com/groups/1809368122656471/?ref=bookmarks
The old trails were crazy, and by steep you mean straight down right? I havnt been there in a long time, im assuming these are new since the old trails got logged?
+MTBdropIN you can still hear it but the enough other nose to drown it out. I did do some minor audio tweaking which helped but didn't eliminate completely.
Brent Okada surprisingly, with all the speed you are carrying from the jump, hitting that line is way easier than trying to swing out and hit the smooth section
Recently got talked into riding at Windrock with a friend. Unfortunately, I only have a cross country bike. Needless to say I was terrified the entire time...
Oh man, so much good stuff in this video! I love how they built the natural features into the trail! I don't know why, but it makes me super nostalgic about shooting down the trails around my old house in NH. So I gotta ask... How did you like the fork? Allowed to talk about it yet? :)
I can now, the Helm was released yesterday! I love it. It's very supple and you can make it ramp up super quickly. You can make it ridiculously progressive. The one in this video I'm going to assume was nitrogen charged or had special floating piston. The valve caps were taped shut and if you look at the pinkbike article they talked about trying different models out. They wouldn't tell me if there was anything different with the fork I was riding that day.
Going there to watch the Pro GRT Event this weekend. Would I survive with a Pivot mach 429 w 120 in the front and 100 in the rear? Carbon wheels? I am now officially nervous.
You never realize how fast the pros are until you see them ride trails you've ridden. Like on Drop-out, you just take that four foot drop like it's nothing!
+The Average MTBr UA-cam compresses the video files and has a maximum bit rate of 3mbps while Vimeo has 10mbps. So I bought a pro Vimeo account to upload bigger quality videos for people who are really want it.
Hey Phil, is that a Banshee you are on? What model? I kinda brought back TMTBL...just posting peoples videos though. I was missing the community and still wanted to showcase the awesome creators that this sport has....if there is anyone you think I should add to my list lemme know.
+Skills With Phil Yeah, I'm happy to see it back too. Still pulling 10k views a month with no one posting there....was surprised to see that! How'd you like the bike? You coming to Western Canada this year?
PHIL, Thanks for posting this. I have such a hard time explaining to people how steep and gnarly Windrock actually is. I feel this video does a super job at showing some "real" footage.
214shakenbake haha you are very welcome.
That log jump at @07.24 tho!
I want to see BKXC take this trail with Phil and flex those new skills he's learning!
Same. BKXC I see you hiding in the comments!
You don't manual that log. You bunnyhop it. Anyone who tries to manual that will ruin their back wheel and/or get launched over the handlebars.
Good effort hopping it on a 200mm+ Dh bike
TrailRider 7:24
That was a bad ass ride. On my list to visit for when I'm in the neighborhood. Thanks Phil, another awesome video.
Trails you don't know, on a loaner bike, thats not perfect for some of the hits, following dudes that rip and still honking!! hitting most lines straight up NICE!!
Skills with phill, i have to say you have the best biking chanell, all of your videos are like wow but this one was just the best!
Best use of a bus I've ever seen
I like how they are all on downhill bikes and you are rocking the trail bike like a boss
Best Mtb video I have seen from anyone in a while!!! Thanks Phil!!!
CANT WAIT TO SEE THE FINAL EVIL BUILD PHIL!!!
matt steacy It's going to be soo sick with the new Cane Creek Helm fork!
Day light Ikr!
Joschua Wiese idk but he was fast AF
From what I read in the pinkbike First Ride, the Helm is at least as good if not superior to the competitors. Especially for aggressive riders like Phil because it's well damped
UA-cam needs to work on their compression. At 3:30 there's nothing of detail or even a clear path visible, because it's to compressed.
Lmao @ 11:50 in. Sweet trails, going to have to check them out now. Great vid.
As everybody knows, pov never gives you that "Oh Sh@@" feel. I was watching this and you cannot understand how steep it really is. These guys are all very good riders and were doing drops and rock stuff so smooth and fast it made the course look even more flat. Great Stuff.
RIP trail bike, visiting this place with a few friends in april, should be rad! Great vid
I love the little woohoo's lol! Makes me want to get on my bike and go ride now lol.
Going to windrock soon to go off roading, had no idea the bike trails were this awesome! Looks like a dual purpose trip coming up. Thanks for posting this video Phil!
Yes! I live in Knoxville and this place is awesome!
Your best video yet. Well done.
mwinner101 thank you kind sir :)
yeah!!! got to check this place out. great riding!
Amazing Trail!
Very inspirational as I'm about to start a trail system in Eastern Oklahoma in an area that this trail was very reminiscent of. Very rocky and steep.
Fuzzyyojimbo Where in Oklahoma? I live in Tulsa and it's very rocky at Turkey Mountain.
Roughly Marble City area.
They've come so far since this video, such a cool place! Riding there now is even better!
We have an old mine that is a MTB park now here in Anderson, IN. Its a lot of uphill and downhill, mostly the piles of earth they moved and piled create a lot of whoop sections or uphills and downhills that allow you to keep your momentum going down and using the speed to get back up easily
Super Rad!!!!! Hope to ride with you guys next week at Santos!!! Live-Life-Loud!!!!
you make hands down the best pov footage!
you gotta come up to Minnesota and ride Battlecreek Park, Lebanon Hills Park and Cuyuna Lakes Trails.
That looks like a ton of fun, too bad I'm in Utah with a broken hand, awesome trails and riding!
Ha! No idea what Dakota is talking about..."It's good cause it's like ugh ugh ugh, ya know?"
Shit mountain bikers say episode 2.
Aww, While you were out here you should've visited Devils racetrack or Barn Burner... Those trails are sweet!
11:54 to 12:00 is the best part of the whole video... That last trail was amazing
This place looks epic! Definitely making a trip there this summer!
Hey Phil I was wondering when you would be back at Windrock I live close to there and I just rode dirt bikes there yesterday on the other trails.
Phil getting hectic on the trail bike toward the end! Sick riding dude. Would love to see you go back with a DH.
You should come to northern Cali and ride the trail networks around santa cruz, especially USCS
Good stuff Phil! Thanks for sharing..
midwest bike parks rule, lol. you gotta check out little switz bike park in wisconsin if you ever get a chance. pretty cool place.
Oh man! We were going to be there on March 18th. Would have been great to meet and ride with you.
Windrock has been on my list for a long time... I never manage to go further south than Snowshoe. Real nice of Dakotah to let you borrow a bike, but damn that thing is noisy!
These trails look super grarly Phil! Awesome riding 🤘
yooooo no way man... I live so close to here... you should also ride at baker's creek and Sharpe's ridge
Great video, Phil!
Awesome, awesome footage Phil!
We love you Phil! J&M in NE Georgia
So many cool hits, hip jumps all over!
Impressive riding, even scary at times;)
On your live stream I commented about putting a BB spacer to space the drive side crank out so the chainring doesn't hit the frame . This will 100% work . Do not machine the frame down as the wall thickness might not be enough .
Thoroughly enjoyed! 👊🏽
I have beeen looking for so much time for a trail like this in the us, so hard to find elsewhere
Wow! Sick riding dude!
Oh dang I live in Knoxville and I've been wanting to ride all these trails but I have no one to ride with which sucks
same but I live in Maryville and my only bike is a walmart dirtjumper. I am saving up for a mountain bike tho
Caleb N. what are you planning to get
Bob Bob Barker probably specialized pitch unless I can find something used that is better for a similar price
I'm in Knoxville and have been looking for people to ride with.
I've been working on setting up a Facebook page for the area riders : facebook.com/groups/1809368122656471/?ref=bookmarks
Logan Gross ok sweet I just joined the group.
I live right next to this place and didn't even know it existed
The cane creek helm is a 1100$ fork. What did you think of it and how it performed?
I love watching Dak in this video.
Damn Phil, under gunned but still hit it hyper speed blind and semi fearless
I can't believe he responded I love bmx and mtb
That was insane! No where near enough bike for you today Phil!
wow sick trails and riding of course.
Good ole rocky top!
Yeah I like trails like that. gnarly stuff, best stuff.
That place looks like a ton of fun
Ive never been to a bike park and cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!
Yo! The Tokul was what? Great vid, once again!
Phil have you ridden Bailey Mountain bike park, if you have I was wondering how they compare in steepness and in technical?
awesome video!
Phil come ride in Knoxville! The local trails are great, I know plenty of people who could show you around.
I'm good friends with Kasey Armstrong and Cory Rimmer, been meaning to ride out there with them.
Skills With Phil I hope you get the chance to soon!
What a great test for the new Cane Creek Helm fork.
Phil, when do we get to see your calling.?
How's the weather there in early February? Seems like the first place to be able to ride DH after the winter time
It's one of the few places that's open everyday all year round. It'll be cold, but still fun!
the sound of the front derailleur haunts me. so happy im 1x
well if that is he noise i hear
+Carson Amate no front derailleur. :P
The old trails were crazy, and by steep you mean straight down right? I havnt been there in a long time, im assuming these are new since the old trails got logged?
Using a trail bike made this video a lot more interesting for me!
How did you manage the gimbal noise? Did you just turn down background noise in the editing?
+MTBdropIN you can still hear it but the enough other nose to drown it out. I did do some minor audio tweaking which helped but didn't eliminate completely.
Hey Phil I wanted to ask you something more personal to my channel, would you be open to sending me your email address through twitter?
That inside line at 11:58 was wild!
Brent Okada surprisingly, with all the speed you are carrying from the jump, hitting that line is way easier than trying to swing out and hit the smooth section
That place looks awesome! I was just reading an article on the Cane Creek Helm.. How'd did you like it?
Recently got talked into riding at Windrock with a friend. Unfortunately, I only have a cross country bike. Needless to say I was terrified the entire time...
Oh god, that sounds terrifying though I saw Neko doing laps on a hardtail XC bike.
Who in their right mind would want to mtb in TennessHOLYCRAPiwanttogotoTennessee.
Raymond Dabela haha I know you wouldn't expect it. to add to that one of the best trails I've ridden was in Alabama!
Skills With Phil What trail was that?
Check out tannery knobs in johnson city. Almost open, ..just finishing up the pump track. Lots of fun
@@SkillsWithPhil Yo I live in Auburn, Alabama I need this response
@@SkillsWithPhil What was the trail?
That place was intense! Dude, carry a spare tube for crying out loud! Hahahaha!!!
these videos are actually really sick!
Dude just before you jump the log, I swear thats a ghost, something is standing there, look slow motion from 7:20 - 7:25 wat the fudge is that??
Man those steep rocky trails look sick. Definitely DH bike territory.
Um ya, that was nuts when you picked your own line at 11:58 Way to be!
Wow, those are some sick trails !! Phil, will you be taking your Evil Calling back here or a DH bike ?
+PhantomRider86 of I have a dh bike I'll bring that for sure.
Aside from being under gunned, how was the cane creek helm?
how many years did it take you to get that good. Im really trying to get good like you.
im fully excited
TMI!
If English isn't your first language what you said could be interpreted as meaning something completely different than what you wanted to say. :P
I need downhill same like urs but its imposible hehehahaha
Voice cracks are an indicator of true joy
+Maciusz I don't know about that but I was having a blast haha
Phil, can we expect an Evil bike build video?
wow that's some good riding. to be honest I think his flat tire riding speed would be about my normal riding speed
Oh man, so much good stuff in this video! I love how they built the natural features into the trail! I don't know why, but it makes me super nostalgic about shooting down the trails around my old house in NH.
So I gotta ask... How did you like the fork? Allowed to talk about it yet? :)

They wouldn't tell me if there was anything different with the fork I was riding that day.
What were your impression of the Cane Creek Helm fork?
I got my first flat today, got home and watch this video xD. Coincidence? Don't think so ;)
Live right next to it, four wheeled it, but never mountain biked at windrock. Go figure.
Fun ride, crappy about all the pinch flats
Come back soon. There are many more miles all around Knoxville.
would riding that on a hardtail be any fun or are the rocks so frequent and intense that it would suck?
Going there to watch the Pro GRT Event this weekend. Would I survive with a Pivot mach 429 w 120 in the front and 100 in the rear? Carbon wheels? I am now officially nervous.
Hey Phil, question from the UK. What was the helm fork like? loved the video btw, sick park!!
You never realize how fast the pros are until you see them ride trails you've ridden. Like on Drop-out, you just take that four foot drop like it's nothing!
Why does the quality drop happen? I have experienced this as well. Using the exact same setup: Gopro Hero 5 and the Karma Grip Stabilizer.
+The Average MTBr UA-cam compresses the video files and has a maximum bit rate of 3mbps while Vimeo has 10mbps. So I bought a pro Vimeo account to upload bigger quality videos for people who are really want it.
wow that must have been some rough stuff you never had any flow going and thats unusual
Hey Phil, is that a Banshee you are on? What model? I kinda brought back TMTBL...just posting peoples videos though. I was missing the community and still wanted to showcase the awesome creators that this sport has....if there is anyone you think I should add to my list lemme know.
+Rivers Mitchell I noticed you did! I'm glad to see it back. I was just checking the site today! And no it's a BMC trailfox trail crew 03
+Skills With Phil Yeah, I'm happy to see it back too. Still pulling 10k views a month with no one posting there....was surprised to see that!
How'd you like the bike?
You coming to Western Canada this year?
Thoughts on the Helm? What was the travel on the bike in this vid? Thanks!
