Octane rating is simply the amount of anti knock additives mixed into gasoline. The engineers literally mix into the test engine until it knocks then re mix and set the rating.

Also MMO is great when added to fuel, but not sure how well it would work or side effects of using it AS fuel, last I knew, -MMO's primary ingredient is kerosene- , which makes it great in small amounts to clean sludge in the crankcase, like seafoam. But, kerosene, has an octane rating of, maybe, 15 - 20, and when used without already-high octane fuel to mix with, I'd be afraid of serious knock, or backfiring into the intake. Heck, Project farm even ran a go kart on kerosene. Under any load, it knocked like mad. He tried adding just over the recommended dose of octane booster to said kerosene to try to help. It did reduce knock a bit, but still it knocked bad under load. So, not saying MMO is bad, because, I've used it, and it's great as an additive and crankcase cleaner. But, as standalone fuel, I would not recommend it. Update: looks like MMO's main ingredient might be mineral oil, although I think plenty of kerosene is also in it. Either way, hey, this channel does this stuff anyway. They already know it's an additive and not meant for standalone, I just would not recommend hopping into your daily, siphoning the tank dry, then dumping gallons of MMO or B12 or whatever into it, as, anything from knocking, to failure to start could occur, depending on the additive's ingredients. Or maybe almost nothing will happen. Who knows.
Now try running it on K1 kerosene and mineral spirits. Cause that is what you just did. MSDS on Gumout Octane boost is mainly Kerosene (sour diesel) and Mineral spirits + trace ingredients. Trace means less than 1%. Probably perfume to hide the kerosene smell. Kerosene costs $4/gal at a pump. I'd love to see if you could start it cold tomorrow. You started on the normal gasoline in the rail. Getting kerosene engines started (like diesels) is a bit of a chore. Then they run just fine. Ill look at your aircraft fuel demo. That could be 100 octane gasoline or aviation kerosene (depends on which pump you used)
@@TruckingWithJimbo yes They have power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid,1/2 quarts of synthetic 10w-30 motor oil(so $2 per quart of oil), fuel line water remover, brake fluid, and fuel system cleaner....at least at my dollar tree
Most new cars run on 87 octane, all what octane level is pretty much it's ignition point lower octane levels are easier to ignite higher octane level can take more for it before it predetonates
@@TheIngoBeck It does. Jet A is essentially kerosene, and straight kerosene can be used in a diesel, although it has less lubricity than actual diesel fuel.
MMO is primarily kerosene (lantern oil) and has an octane rating of about 15-20. Putting pure kerosene will likely cause either major pre-detonation or actual backfiring through the intake. Both of which can be catastrophic damage to the engine. You're better off putting motor oil into the tank.
Powder Blue It’s a naphtha based oil, a cleaning oil and there’s wintergreen to make it smell nice. Aopa published a chemical breakdown of the stuff way back in the 80s.

Pompous Guitar7 that’s exactly what happened on one of my bikes as well
I got a good one! Run it on coke!!
Completely drain the gas tank and run it with Lucas fuel additive
Octane rating is simply the amount of anti knock additives mixed into gasoline. The engineers literally mix into the test engine until it knocks then re mix and set the rating.
5:10 "Allow me to explain" 🤣
Can a car run on miller
SCION FRS DRIFT MISSILE BUILD!!!

Champagne octane? Fuck yeah. It won't run on PBR however...

At least the tires are in the front lol.
Colorado Sv650s to get gearheads thru the store hoping we will buy other stuff
Cause gearheads have a lot of patience and aren't lazy. Can you imagine food being in back? Welfare people would riot having to walk that far
@@tgbeam lmfao
Even that alian at 11:06 was like " dayummm! what makes that miata so dank yo?!" "What do these earthlings call this magic juice..."
The only requirement for a race car to be a race car is: You race it... The worst mindset to perpetuate for any hobby you care about is the idea that you need to have the best to participate.
My truck does doughnuts and it's not a racecar, Just saying... miata drivers lol
You're delirious @5000 subs without videos
GENZILLA even without being boosted I bet it makes more power then that Miata your such a ricer thinking it needs to be boosted to make power
XD
A mIaTA iS NoT A RaCeCaR
A turbo one is lol
While I agree this Miata isn't a racecar, the Miata platform is probably the most raced production car in history. Two words. Spec Miata. Look it up.
Creative Lemon yeah it might just be 200hp 😂
5000 subs without videos slow as fuc
i seen and old one once with a 350 in it that would beg to differ
I think sometimes what these guys did here is something that needs to be done to your engine system to have it running tops all the time
Kool expire ment..lol. surprised to see that your car actually runs on full octane.. If you do another, please use the good stuff.. Someone comment here was the cheap stuff isn't much stronger than reg gas..? IDK, but it was a good idea.. thanks for letting me see what happens...
These young fellows with their cheezy little sputtering miata, why am I watching this ?
Seriously! You felt the need to buy 93 octane to add to your tank of octane booster. I’m thinking regular would have been fine
johnny rocket for the turbo
Not on a turbo set-up. Any car that comes with, or was upgraded to turbo needs 91+. Keeps unwanted detonation from blowing your turbine wheel to pieces.
It's for the views lmao they have more views on this video than they do subscribers
The point of the octane booster is to raise the octane level of gas. Johnny Rocket is saying that 87 would have been enough due to the octane booster.
If you're doing mad donuts the fuel is sloshing like crazy. It's not losing fuel pressure so you have much more gas in the tank than you think.. That is for sure a race car, Miatas are the shit. Besides , any car you drive is a race car if you race it...
Thats a good thing..engines won't run on octane boost by itself.
That's not how this works, I used to race my parents' old belvedere. Still not even close to being a racecar
@@alexarnold6773 Well then , you better tell that to the 24 hrs of lemons, miatas at leguna seca, the cheap car cross country challenge , the peddle to the medal, the spectator drags, etc.... That is EXACTLY how it works you fucking moron. Race cars were not invented untill long after people started racing cars....
Correction: Miatas ARE shit
bdd1469 You would know all about that wouldn’t you bud
You need to run straight BarryMann B 12 it is the best fuel additive... @ 1:00 u can see Barryman on the right second self
Yessir b12 over anything
I do use that myself, but not sure how it would do standalone, given I'm sure B12 Chemtool contains a large concentration of acetone.
Your Moms Hitachi give it a try
I use Marvel too. Of all I've used and tested, seems Lucas Oil products have made the biggest miracles for me. But others like STP and Marvel Mystery do their job too.
That could be 100 octane gasoline or aviation kerosene (depends on which pump you used)
It’s gna go kabooom💥 😂
If it can win a race, its a race car :p
There's no way you aren't good at maths not with those glasses
Try running it on seafoam. I ran my ATV on straight seafoam when I ran out of gas in the trails just to get home a mile away cuz I had it in my bag.
bs, will NOT run on seafoam
5:00 Just because the car drifts doesn’t mean it is a race car, it means that it is a drift car.
So, lesson learned, post apocalypse when gas stations are running low, grab octane booster. It probably has a longer shelf life.
About 12 minutes too long

U should have gone to dollar tree they carry larger bottles of octane booster for $1 I use it all the time in my ATV and garden tractor
Squarebody Case /Wade McKenney are you serious
@@TruckingWithJimbo yes
They have power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid,1/2 quarts of synthetic 10w-30 motor oil(so $2 per quart of oil), fuel line water remover, brake fluid, and fuel system cleaner....at least at my dollar tree
I was thinking the same.
Its at mine to
Looks like the miata isn't too picky on it's fuel. I bet you can't do that with a new car.
a new car would probaly have caught on fire ..
Most new cars run on 87 octane, all what octane level is pretty much it's ignition point lower octane levels are easier to ignite higher octane level can take more for it before it predetonates
That bih gone blow up 😂😂😂
What did you do to make it turbo
why????? Just go to your local airport and buy a few gallons of 110 octane aircraft fuel.
Jet A and 100LL is all you can get at my little podunk airport. LL="low lead"
@@jtocwru I wonder if Jet A would run in a diesel?
@@TheIngoBeck It does. Jet A is essentially kerosene, and straight kerosene can be used in a diesel, although it has less lubricity than actual diesel fuel.
@@TheIngoBeck the U.S. Military runs all of its diesel engines on JP-8. Basically a modified Jet A-1 with additives.
if thats full octane booster i need to make my xylene mix lots more
It may not look like a race car . But it's a fun car

That little car is dope 🔥
Why tf were there a ad break right when you said it?? 🤔
Dang your 93 is cheaper than 85 here in Colorado
91 here in SoCal is $4.00
Right. 2.99 for 85 in Springs

Take that Cindy Lauper ! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
That car must be drinking all that booster aka coughing medicine and also the car gets drunk probably gonna go everywhere 🤣🤣🤣
You're going to internally damaged the engine
a gallon of marvel mystery oil is 15$ shipped on amazon... lol
Powder Blue but than injectors will be clogged with thick oil
Powder Blue
It’s a naphtha based oil, a cleaning oil and there’s wintergreen to make it smell nice.
Aopa published a chemical breakdown of the stuff way back in the 80s.
All these kids in the comments dissing miatas and they've probably never driven one, or know it's THE MOST RACED car in the world. I'm an AMG guy and own V8 track stars, and even I know that Miata is always the answer 👍
Also if you are racing/auto-x'ing, you should really get a roll bar homie. They're like $500 and actually look mad dope.
I've driven 3 miatas 1 of which was an actual race competition rig. And all 3 times all I could think about is how brave Caitlyn Jenner is.
@@violater7026 haha, C63s are no joke 😉
Yeah its only one of the top five cars built for Drifting. Not everyone knows all about what they pretend to know about.
But honestly if you own V8 track stars why would a 4 cyl rotary be the answer. LS1 in a 90 mdl 240sx hatch is the answer the question is Miata or anything 4cyl if you have the oprion to drive a V8.
Alright aright, i admit the little miata got somethin! I dropped you a like for the impress!
