I heard this on the first day of broadcast on MTV and it’s been stuck in my head for weeks now such a good song I am going to request it on my local radio station
Only purchased the 7” disc because it was laser etched with musical notes. Turned out to be brilliant and I still have it somewhere, 40 plus years later.
I've been a fan since 1980, too, when I first saw them on Video Concert Hall, a pre-MTV video TV show. My brother-in-law went out and bought all their albums. He was nuts about them. What a great band!
Call me crazy, but Split Enz was and still is the only band I ever really liked. Period. Thanks guys for entertaining me for over 40 years. What a legacy.
Great band and if there’s any Beatles fans, I created something people seem to like a bit, to see it simply just type in the following title to search bar…. Beatles sketch with snippets
@@LoopyTunes2U Not when cyclone Gabriel takes out the power! But wait, when One NZ, (ex Clear ex Vodafone), go live in 2024, we are going interStarlink 🥳 Then history won't repeat (see what I did there), because we just communicate with our cellphones power or no power.
@@LoopyTunes2U Well remember it was a Kiwi that first split the atom, a Kiwi that co-climbed Everest first and a Kiwi that invented the jet boat. So yes, we have the internet and I remember using an early version of it at the public library circa 91/92. Did your country have it that early?
Loved this band in the 80s & still do in 2023!
This recording is damaged. This one is better: wZXcYjI1-S8
Neil & Tim Finn are two of the greatest songwriters in history. ❤
I concur.
Defined my late high school years. Thank you Split Enz for being an important part of my childhood 🤍
Mine too. I think I would have gone nuts without them. My world!
@@janinehazel4512 Woo hoo! I’m glad you have great memories of the good ol’ days in music, too ☀️

This was the 12th video played on MTV. (11th played in entirety.) Split Enz videos were played seven times on the first day of MTV.
I got you was the bigger hit..
But this was the current album in 81.
What an awesome band.

This is due to master tape issues.

Oh an Aussie! Should have guessed. The country that finally gave its indigenous people the vote in the 1960s.
Loved them since 81. I will always be a fan.
from someone who met women and nightclubbed back then that first rejection at 30 seconds said it all. perfect memories :)
The video is clear. The audio sounds like it's coming off a wax cylinder recording.
By listening to this wonderful song I love so much!
I wish COVID never repeated!
Yea especially at the end .. it’s spitz up.
Split Enz:The Living Enz
Great song .
That was my mistake. Sounds like
Let my father stay
Their best song, IMO.
110%
Pure pop ..I'm 63 now .. does age show ?
Above most. ❤️🕊👍🏽
Bought the single. Still love it, but why is it not on Spotify?
It's like The Beatles if they were a new wave act....
One of the best songs ever.

Totally original
Just looking I see 4 songs I like.
My favorite band in the 80's too. Their songs are still so fresh and beautiful, so full of feeling. I still treasure my original vinyl albums.
😮😮😮😮😊😊
What happened to Mal Green? 😃
He was kicked out the band shortly before they filmed this video.
Ahhhh...sweet youth! This was often on repeat in my Salad Days.❤
Why am I all the sudden thinking of Matthew Lesko? 😄
Who?

Back in the early 80's my father was listening to this and told me it was shite! He said history always repeats! He just didn't get it!
As Mark Twain said “History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme”.
I love this sondg❤🎉❤🎉
They were loveable in the latter Seventies!! 😊
They are special ❤️🕊
Oh how i miss MTV. I WANT MY MTVVVVVVEEEE

I would watch MTV for hours waiting for a Split Enz video. ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow. They must have had only 2 or 3 bands down there if this is considered top stuff.
Great tune and band
Has anyone ever seen Split Enz and The Kids in the Hall in the same room at the same time?
