mac Stanford We (whites) are uncomfortable talking about race because doing so honestly often carries serious social and occasionally economic repercussions.
The narrative is that everything is our fault, that all we have is unearned, and that we are always wrong. And to question this risks social and career suicide. So instead of being open about it, we ignore it and avoid it.

But, I'm tired of these right wing white supremacist thinking everybody who is for equal opportunity and justice must be a liberal. So what they are saying to me is, being conservative means- they are against every race having equal opportunity and justice. That sounds very hateful and selfish for anyone to think that way. Like this video for instance it some how holds every white person accountable for things they have nothing to with. This attempt to ascribe all white people as evil is itself racist.

I would say this however, religion is very different from race, so when you say does it make me less white due to my jewish ancestors in comparison to a German person, well that completely depends on your race doesn’t it? Because I could be a white Muslim..
Also to the Amerindian question, no is the answer, they are not white at all. Actually the white man destroyed the homes of these beautiful people.

Also the extent and brutality of the barban slave trade has no match. Not to mention the europeans have enslaved and killed off multiple races and to an extent still does today. Around 1.5-2 million europeans were enslaved however around 2 million were taken from Ethiopia alone. Also, Of course yelling racial slurs is still racist & you used present tense when talking about the black panthers. I don't care much about my status or standing. My rights and privileges are irrelevant. the things they kept repeating "I didn't know I was white" "I didn't have to think about race" "I don't think of myself as white" is the privilege of it! That right there. Individuality, or the ability to look at oneself outside of a racial context, is only available to white people. That is because whiteness is perceived as a default and anything outside of that is other. And there is NO availability to look beyond that, as a person of color, until the white majority (on a systemic and societal level), are willing to see color as an adjective and not a noun.

This pointing the finger thing is only making our world worst for us and our children. We have to talk about things. Millennials have to talk about it. scientifically there is no analytical or biological basis for that illogical definition of 'races' 👎 'white' isn't a term in genetics, any actual ethnicity can display African depigmentation genes 😂 the eldest Natives anywhere are of African bloodlines by tens of millions of years. The eldest Hispanic (ancient Denisovan African) lineages are at least 400k years old. Africans and Hispanics have the eldest ethnicities by far and lead modern culture by far. Africans and Hispanics have modern monuments that are 10-60k years old and have had 'modern faces' for at least 300k years 😂 while African depigmentation genes can be displayed by any actual ethnicity, African depigmentation genes didn't flourish until 5-8k years ago through young Asians (Neanderthal Africans) and ancient Hispanics (Denisovan Africans) 😂😂
Race means African physical traits, it has never meant ethnicity (origin and culture). Not one ethnicity can claim any specific traits since humans are 100% African, 99.9% identical and inherited everything..
There has never been a homogeneous ethnicity, no ethnicity can claim any biological traits and we inherited everything from our one African family tree [AAPA]. Humans are not grouped by biological traits.
"You and I, in fact everyone all over the world, we’re literally African under the skin; brothers and sisters separated by a mere two thousand generations. Old-fashioned concepts of race are not only socially divisive, but scientifically wrong."
"Explain that genetic evidence shows all humans are 99.9% identical and do not fall neatly into physical categories some people call races. The differences among us-like skin color and hair texture-evolved as humans adapted to different environments. They account for less than one tenth of one percent of our genetic makeup."

My great grandparents were very dark (as would be 90% of Greeks of we still worked in the sun) but still never questioned their "whiteness". To us all Caucasians (Scandinavians, Mediterraneans, Middle Easterns etc) are different shades of "white", then you have "black people" and "Asian" (meaning Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Philippines etc). This whole connection of politics with skin colour is like the flipped coin of the racism of the past. There's so many things that make up someones identity. I find it attractive and intriguing to know what someone's culture truly is ex: Spanish, Haitian, Scottish, Greek ect. I have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to be classified as simply white or black when they have so much more to offer. In Africa and elsewhere, you have unique orders we can call ethnic groups or populations. 'West African' is only a regional designation, there are plenty of distinct ethnic groups in the region though. Pygmy is a description used for specific ethnic groups in Africa. Semitic is merely the name for usually a language family, academically. Many different ethnic groups are "Semitic," like I'm African American and I'm a modern Indo-European. Bantu and Nilotic are like Semitic, the labels are used for language families but potentially also certain cultural trends. They span many distinct ethnic groups of people too. When I use "ethnic group," I mean people who are historically, culturally, and genetically unique.

Racist in a bad way? The Latino community has some major issues with anti-blackness and general racism. The Avenues Gang ethnically cleansed Highland Park for decades. I saw only one black kid back in the day in Highland park EVER and he was being put in the back on an ambulance after being stabbed. I came accross a racist Latino crew who would jump white and black people who would come around their music spots.. those people broke my friends jaw, they boot stomped another at his own house and I got jumped by girls and guys by the same people and I'm a girl and there are others I know of too.. this is what happens when you think a little racism is okay. I met a cop who would go on racist rants and no matter what I told him about racism being wrong he would just say "white people are worse".. he was Latino, racist and a cop and he actually had shot the wrong person once before, but he believed it was okay because that guy happened to be a wanted criminal anyway so the cop was "lucky". A wee racism goes along way accross a whole group of people and wether you are aware of it or not... Latinos are sometimes stereotyped as "racist" but now people like Amara La Negra are rising up to talk about it and create a change in attitude.

I don't mind questions or race jokes as long as it's not being targeted directly with the internet to cause conflict, I think alot of things should be judged on intent and not by face value. Like don't call another person a racist slur and think when they call you one back you have the right to be offended. I also know I have Spaniard and Italian descendants, so I have European ancestry like most Hispanics and Latinos and some Blacks. If I was classifying my race in the U.S. I always choose mixed race when applicable, but if I can’t I mark Hispanic/Latino and Black. Many Hispanic/Latinos do not mark white either way. As someone who looks almost 100% Hispanic, but have half a family who are African Americans that have slave ancestors, I am living a completely different and privileged life than they are. I recognize it everyday and have directly heard the racism told to my face, as though it wasn’t known to them what race I was. The color of my skin and my European features made it comfortable for the prejudice to come out. I cannot begin to explain the amount of covert racism I have heard mainly from the White race, but some from Hispanics/Latinos, and even from Middle Eastern people, who are also confused by how I look, and how comfortable they are sharing their racist thoughts with me. It’s an awakening when you stand from a place of privilege and I would never deny that I have. We don’t all share the same experiences, and some are made the enemy more than others, but some are faced with unfair prejudice more than others, and undeniably the common theme is racism hurled at blacks. Have I also received direct racism from looking as Hispanic as I do, yes! But, not nearly as much as the covert and sometimes overt racism directed at blacks, whether it’s a proud display or disdain openly or as spoken quietly in a shameful manner, it’s obvious to me that it happens a lot. Should we have open conversations and dialogue about race? Yes, we should! But we should never deny that there’s unequal racial discrimination happening in this country, and it’s happening more prevalent to the most melanated groups in our society, which of course is colorism, but that goes back to outright racism towards the Black race. The reason darker people in racial groups are outcasted is because their proximity to blackness. So again, we can try to educate and talk through the issue of racism, but understand your privileged situation and acknowledge that there are some who will never change their beliefs and prejudices that are bred in their values and traditions. That will keep the conversation going for generations to come.

Wow, privileged, eh? I will never apologize for being white. I grew up homeless, eating out of trash cans, I've seen things that are hard to talk about and ended up with PTSD due to my childhood but I'm white...so I'm privileged! I am lucky though, a kind man found me and took me half way across the country to give me a new live. We are now married(8 years), have two beautiful children, have a working car and a house. This is heaven. If people would STOP being so bitter for what they don't have and blaming everyone else, and start appreciating what they do have, the world would be a much better place. What I'm trying to say here is; skin color has nothing to do with quality of life. It's the choices you make that make all the difference.

There's no such thing as "systemic racism". So no, in Western society, there is no such thing as "white privilege". The true reason why racism *towards* white people is tolerated is because that very same silly idea of "white privilege". Some people think they have no rights to talk about certain things or have opinions or something just because some SJWs keep making this stuff up.

But I often noticed that white people whether they are white American or white Latinos they often feel the need to feel offended that people of color still want to talk about this subject. I’ve often notice that Latinos of color also want to speak about this subject and I also notice that some white Latinos don’t get it. Even my own sister said to me one day that she doesn’t understand because she’s never noticed or experience racism, that their hasn’t been any racism for many years and I told her “that’s because you’re white and it doesn’t matter that you’re a Latina you’re still white, so you should ask our brother who is brown and see what he has to say about, I bet his experience is different.”

(I'm Nigerian born in America) The problem is not white people. The problem is societal standards, media, and the effects of slavery and segregation. Many black americans are usually set up for failure and born to fail which is the saddest thing. It has nothing to do with white people, but the bad lifestyles from blacks due to the repercussions of the past causes a big cultural difference between the two races (If you think about it, the only way races in the US will get along is if cultures are combined but that's asking for a lot). Also, in my opinion, many black americans/white people barely interact with each other which is why there is such a huge disconnect and racial divide (but this is also due to how coincincidentally races are separated in states/cities). In the private school that I went to, my closest friends were all white and some black, but the black people were usually 10x more racist (some white people were also blatantly racist in front of teachers and nothing would happen and that's where the advantage of being white comes from sometimes, but the whole white privilege think is overboard in my opinion.) SOME AAs usually are a lot meaner/judgemental/racist/bad people but this is due to where they grew up and the bad cultural aspects of AAs which is due to again, stuff from the past. when some of the white people are they have an advantage because they are seen as better/or given the benefit of the doubt. This is my point of view from all of this. Lastly, I think people just need to start getting more comfortable with people different than you, and stop making race the biggest deal in the world because it does not even exist.

Guys we need to speak about race and there is no single person who is responsible for the race problem and instead of running away from it , we should just talk about it, talk about what we want to do about and try and come to a understanding, and let's not be too optimistic , we will never solve the race problem fully so let's just talk about and do as much as we can in our individual power and hope things will work out.

As an outsider (new to the US culture and construction of race), I'm always fascinated by how "whiteness" has been constructed in the US. For instance, all the people talking on this video have different skin shades and varied features. Some look Mediterranean, some look nordic, some frankly look middle eastern! This broad concept of "white" has been deliberately constructed to keep the power within a single group (mostly in ex-British colonies) but this wouldn't work in Europe or even Latin America!
