Few things - if it's a newer model (2013 ish onwards) then you will have to remove the entire wiper system. You will also have to remove the entire airbox, in order to remove the entire scuttle tray - or at least free it enough to lift it up to gain access to the top-bolts on the strut. Non-removal isn't an option. There are sneaky bolts underneath the tray - one onto the brake-fluid resevoir, 2 nuts holding on an air-con pipe. 10mm - the wiper system is all 13mm. Use a pliers to disconnect the washer pipe from just below the 2-way splitter. It then pulls free. If the wiper arms won't come off (they might not) - screw the nut back on, till flush, lift the wiper arm & hit the nut/spindle a smart smack with a hammer - that will free the arm.
When removing the plastic scuttle cover btw, those plastic rivet-clips won't come out with the proper tool - use a long-nosed pliers instead, pull out the top piece first, then the bottom piece - saves ages messing about.
When removing the lower 2 bolts of the strut, MARK the position of the uppermost bolt, washer & onto the strut, so you can re-align it for camber. The lower bolt doesn't matter. You will also need a good quality T40 torx socket & an 18mm spanner to remove the anti-roll-bar link from the strut. Clean the thread first, or you may struggle/break many T40 sockets. Wind the T40 clockwise - counter intuitive - while holding the 18mm spanner steady. Righty loosey, leftey tightey in this case. Easy to mix that up & break more sockets.
The 3 bolts on top of the strut will be murder-tight btw. They will stay murder tight right till they are almost out. Persevere. Merc used a lot of threadlock - it's that you're fighting. Here, you will cut your hands - you just will, too many sharp edges/too much force required. Wear gloves.
Also - if you're going this far in, do both sides - it's false economy to do only one side. Replace the shocks & springs L & R. You will curse if you do one side, then the other side spring breaks a few weeks later. Unless you're a shyster garage - in which case only do the broken side, then smile with glee when you get paid to do it all again when the other side breaks later, Obvs.
I just replace both sides regardless, because this jobs a ballache & I don't care about making more money - I just want the customers van back together & driving off.

I did mine without removing the wiper mechanism. No problem. Why do they remove it? There is even a notch on mine where the socket extension bar passes to reach the suspension retaining bolt. I didn't even have to remove the washer pipe from the plastic shield, I just moved it to one side. I did however lower the bonnet/hood (held by an 2 foot/ 60cm timber) to access the hole with a long socket extension bar between the bonnet/hood and windshield. A cordless impact gun makes life easier. Simples.

Dave Ridge agree with not removing the wiper mechanism. Used an impact gun and a 1/2 swivel myself 😂

Oh noo you didnnt/. You can't even touch bolts, let alone open them, without removing all. Let's not be silly here. People are gonna read your comment & be scratching their heads when your way doesn't work. I posted the actual way above, in the comments. ;-) Boring, but real.

This video has caused me a lot of grief and misery. You completely bypassed camber (upper) bolt marking and adjustment and just slammed the strut in. There does not now seem to be enough adjustment to get any negative camber angle in my car even if I adjust it to maximum. I have no idea what got screwed up. Getting it aligned by a professional soon but I don't see how it could make a difference (?) . Also this video fails to mention that tightening the upper strut nut needs an impact tool so it spins fast enough so that the shock absorber center does not spin along, or a special tool where you can fit a hex key through and tighten with spanner.
