For myself personally, the appeal of Van Melson has always been his, "man out of time" aura and the fact that he lives in this very same modern world. Therefor, I always enjoy when, in any story of Van Melson's, there are little reminders of his setting such as the mention of a cell phone or other such modern amenities as we all enjoy and suffer equally. For me, this always seems to reinforce the feeling that Van Melson is a man, both of another world, yet still existing in this one.
What a good story! I really like it. Pete and Norman are awesome. Now, we have Buck! Hope to hear more of him. They really are a "dynamic duo." Fantastic narration, sounds, and music.
The triumphant return of Van Melson! Just what I needed, thank you so much! My local weather will soon be conducive to a return into unknown K'Dath as well, I think Ill pick a sufficiently dreary grey day and listen to HB's Dream Cycle (Lovecraft, of course) here quite soon! Cheers.
“After an interval, however, we approached the pit again, and found the exhalations less unbearable….” Keep up the good work and, as always, stay safe!
I have a hard time wandering far from Lovecraft these days. Your writing and narrations have given me reprieve where it is hard to find. Thank you for your imaginations!!
As usual a marvelous good story of Peter Van Melsen and his friends. I am really getting hooked on the PVM stories. I hope you have many in store for us. You made my day with this Tale. Can't wait for the next one, many thanks and all the best from the other side of the North Sea. 👏🏻👻☠️ And these ones are for Peter 🚬🚬🚬🚬🚬
Don't worry. Warren may be "dead" but he's still just fine. I saw him this very afternoon at the pub. He declined my offer of a pint, and kept staring at my neck.. I left him to his own devices when a rather innocent young lady walked in and immediately fell into his quite charming company.
What a frightening story. We're left with so many questions. Probably the most enigmatic Van Melsen case yet. The monster's voice caught me off guard with the spine-tingling vocal layering. To be honest I haven't been startled like that since the end of your GrandDad story. It's quite refreshing to see the banter between Cane and Van Melsen in this story. Not that of Sherlock and Watson, but of two men put in a harrowing predicament. Keep up the stellar work Ian. Here's to 40 more years of Van Melsen tales.
Always great to see more Van Melsen fiction. Looking forward to hearing about Peter’s early years, when he was the lead guitarist of leading rock band *Van Melsen*
I'll comment here, but I have to go back to the beginning before I proceed any further. I feel I've done myself a great service by avoiding the horror genre until most recently. Its as if a dark, yet inviting, form... entices me further. Further. Through the Door. Side note, writing for your own monologuing is singular. Also I love Wayne June, of Darkest Dungeon fame. I spend a lot of time with Wayne...ha, I told him so. Great work as always, now its back to square one for me

"It's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." Felt this when the contents were enumerated.

You have talent to give intriguing mystery and absolutely refuse to even hint about its nature😏
Great story regardless.
Absolutely wonderfilled😊❤
I spelt it that way to make a funny, but do love it😊❤
Excellent music lead in
SCORE🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, I love the V.M. stories❤❤❤😊
I think I like your stories the best
6:32 'Bashful Bibliophile' nice alliteration 😊❤
Ian’s alliteration is always a good time. There’s something to be said for playfulness in writing.
A new Van Melsen story! Hooray, hooray, hooray!!!
Don't worry.

Dig that crazy intro music, Ian! 😎
More Van Melsen. Sweet.
Oh heck yeah!

5:00 Dunsop Bridge eh? Quite an upper middle class area outside of the more established population. Only a few miles away from where I stay.
I see Ian, I click 😊
One day Warren... one day, you shall be resurrected! For in strange aeons even death may die.
Not sure that’s the right quote to imply eventual resurrection lol
Throws another Warren on the pile.
Fools!

I’m a bit perplexed. Was the mound and the 45° liquid some sort of portal, like a faerie mound might be?
A great tale! It's always good to get another chapter of Van Melsen.😎🔥🙌
Oooo love Van Melsen!!! Looking forward to the novel as well.
Yayayay 💚🇬🇧
Novel!!!
Thanks you again for excellent narration of classic horror
- Thalia for no AI 🤖 too
Has Warren considered a career as a zombie?
According to Lovecraft Warren became a ghoul.
@@DemienC.
I've never been entirely clear about that ?
❤🎉😊❤🎉
Warren f’thagn!
Nothing in 2020 or later.
First
Sounds like Bleeding Dalek 😂😂😂😂
