Great video with a few insightful tips even though I've been playing for a while. Since it is about research, it would've been helpful if you also mentioned how many blueprints we need for each ship. I know it's somewhere in the wiki but it'd be good for reference.
One more nice thing about the long-duration C-class projects in particular: they're ideal for overnight use. You can't spin up a new project while you're asleep, so having a 8- or 12-hour no-cost project going while you rest up is perfect. Just because of that, I try to save my daily refresh until the end of the day, so I can get Basic Research going overnight and have the Research Lab idle as infrequently and for as little time as possible. :-)
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been playing this for a little over 2 years, and I’ve never put too much thought into the projects. I’ve just clicked on whichever was the cheapest or fastest
@@Ganyuuxshu I hate to invade the comment chain, but similarly to @1989Anarquia i started around august and have been really enjoying the game and these tutorial videos. I'm up to level 71 now.
I don't look at the barcodes since its cumbersome so I named them: Home project Gold project Blueprint project Boss project Also, whenever Home project shows up, I'll pick it up, no questions asked
B-Type is good only if you are farming, or about to farm, for combat data collection. C-Type projects are great when your job needs concentration, and you don't have time to spare on AL, or before going to bed. H-Type projects are the most difficult to explain, they are amazing when you've unlocked multiple PRY ships, this way you get the highest amount of PR blueprints, and they wouldn't sit in your depot doing nothing, as for cubes, you get at least 3 every day, so taking a blue version every day, or a purple one every two days isn't that difficult. The gold one is a bit tricky, but if you've done Defense Exercise III commission the same week and didn't waste these cubes on gacha, you can take one without going too neg. IMO, PRY ships and retrofits (and yes, you are getting retrofit blueprints out of it as well) are higher on the tier list than most of the event ships, so take your time to compare the stats and skills before wasting your cubes on the event gacha, getting one/two event ships is all you usually need out of it, and not every event is even worth your attention and time, and it will certainly get a rerun, don't go into full "gotta build them all" mode. XD D-Type projects are great when you've unlocked, or about to unlock, your first or second PRY ship, or need a certain blueprint to finish dev level. Every other project is average, IMO, use them to "refresh the page", or if you've just recently started to play. Overall, research projects are your best way to get all you wish for in this game. You wouldn't see the results at the first glance, but after a month of two the blueprints for top tier gear and PRY ships will start to pile up, so do as many as you can every day.
If you are farming blueprints for a ship from a specific PR season keep in mind that PR Focus is really important cause not only it increases the chances to get research projects from the season you choose but it also *guarantees that at least 3 of them will be from that season* which is very useful to get D projects for the ship you are farming
PR ships: Yeah, you make a fair point. PR item blueprints: most of the ones you’ve listed as bad usually give fairly large quantities of item blueprints, so that is when those are the go-to. And the scrap blueprints one of E is... Well, if you’ve accumulated enough to even bother with that research type, you are a madlad. Like seriously, I have over 45 on only a handful of blueprints and most of them are AA guns, which aren’t used in that research type.
As a new casual player that's still in need of weaponry and have no immediate need for the blueprints, I primarily just do the free ones and occasionally coin ones. Wait times don't matter too much to me and I can't justify spending cubes or high amounts of coin. Not to mention, I haven't even gotten to missions where I could do those requirement ones. It's really good to know about the different tiers though, I never really put it together that there's meaning behind the names and colors for whatever reason. I'm still stuck on needing to farm up that 1mil then 2 mil experience requirement for St. Louis. :(
Since I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned it yet, I will. Since they added PR3, you can choose: No focus, PR 1, PR 2 and PR3. I believe you also can select a specific PR ship to focus as well
IMO the data collection research is actually good if you're planning to farm a specific map, e.g. you're planning to farm jintsu and the data collection showed up telling you to clear chapter 10 6 times, two birbs in one stone 👌 (this is just me who always low on gold and cubes)
very nice guide again ander sama just wanted to point out that 100cubes isnt enough even if its just sitting around doing nothing, during an event in average you'll spend almost 300+ cubes for all ships in a banner (of course if your lucky you can get all ships in 100 or so) so it would be best to set aside about 300cubes before cube research specially if you want a specific ship from that banner
I remember when i also had that amount of cubes. Now i onlu have like 9 cubes. I'm a collector and want to collect all ships in every event. I guess that's explains why I only have 9.lol
Best one for blueprint/time is H-project 1Hr for 3 cubes. You get 2-5 research blue prints for 3 cubes, way better than purple and gold version of the H projects in both time and cost. The Purple 4Hr 6k gold one is good for weapon blue print and research blue print, you get a minimum 3 each.
Homing beacons and faster planes. Fighters are typically faster than the other planes on average, although the gold Barracuda has a nice 8sec reload. Dive bombers, however, are always gonna be slow. Thats why Saratoga reloads so much slower than Centaur or Lusty. The homing beacon is a core data auxiliary item you can get for 500 core, and it decreases the loading time of your airstrikes by 4%
@@kiwichicc But if it's too fast won't they hit before Helena? I agree with OP it's unnecessarily complicated lol, gotta use one of those online airstrike calculators. I think the game should show the launch timings in the equipment screen, alongside the rest of the stats.
I mostly use C projects because I need to save cubes and coins. Those coins I saved could be used to spam build pools to obtain event limited ships that I still don't have on the last day. *_(My heart still hurts because I didn't manage to obtain Jean Bart on the last day of the Iris rerun.)_*
I abandoned the idea of farming PR ships after realizing that there's no point of having them if they're not DEV 20 or higher, I'm just stuck in farming hell with my DEV 25 Monarch and Roon
it depends on the PR, Monarch for ex. is highly average pre 30. She gains 40% more damage at dev 30 from MG + 1 and efficiency bonus. How ever other ships can still be fine dev 5-15, mainly vanguards who rely on their starting skills or get them early like, kitakaze, ibuki and seattle.
What a coincidence me too! Although to be fair building the main fleet + retrofit + builds + upgrades didn't even leave me any coins the first 2 months.
I can't agree on everything said in this guide. The shortest researches are actually the best, because faster refresh means more research plans to chose from. More plans means faster research and more kansen blueprints. You will progress through research much faster that way and credits are so easy to get in AL, 1500 coins is literally nothing for active players. Cube researches are actually the most rewarding ones in terms of BPs, but due to their nature they're not meant for fresh/progressing players, as they will want to - and should - save cubes for event gatcha instead. If you're a veteran though and have your ship collection sitting at nearly 100% and above 400-500 cubes, there's no more reason to hoard them! The long free researches are meant for overnight/daily job time.
6:52 I was thinking my laptop screen die xD To me personally D-XXX-UL and Q-XXX-UL (30min/gold ones) are monsters, best ones out there and C 12h is perfect when you're going to sleep.
You know what? The g mission 2hr and 30 minutes is actually good if you are aiming for UR prints. Because eventually you will max out ALL non UR ships while you are still finishing Azuma and FDG. You will be wasting time going for D purple mission for specific non UR ships. Well it depends if you are just a casual player tho. And btw, i’m pretty sure 2hr 30 minutes HAVE a guaranteed pr blueprints.

Yeah I think research is made to take like upwards of one year to max out the ships (unless you spend tons of gold/cubes), and by then they'll probably have released a new batch of research ships
Ah commissions. My 12 hour commissions for some reason never have cubes available and drying up on cubes every event is just plain sad, even worse if there's a missed ship that won't come out.
Project Q that requires purple general parts are the ones you should go for if you want the rainbow gun. I have once received 2 parts of the rainbow gun from it. Do the ones that are 4 hours long.
The perfect storm to go for? When you go with a certain ship girl in the catch up and find her in sunlight yellow cognition. It cost 8000 coins but it's worth it since it got me 9 Roon blue prints all at once and to think there's a potential for 10.
7 months in PR2 and I'm at 26/50 for the rainbow gun and DEV 25 FDG. I'm confident I can finish both before they drop PR3. Not many Cube research done so far.
The only drop rate AL has EVER told us is Akagi/Kaga having a 0.75% chance each to drop from 3-4. So no one really knows about rainbow bp drop rate. I would just recommend looking out for any Project D's with Azuma or FDG, since that would guarantee at least one for them.
I completely do not agree with skipping gold B (farm map 3/2 times). If you are clearing or farming that particular chapter, or if you want to grind some exp for PRY unlock, why would you skip gold B research? That way it is free, as you are killing stuff anyway and rewards are good. In fact, other research guides consider gold B a tier 0 research pick. And now that you skipped it in the quicklist, video becomes pointless as there are full (complete = better) comparison tables.
I never had a rainbow research project. NEVER! And I play this game for what feels like a eternity already with a ton of researches done. How rare are these things exactly? I didn't even know they existed until I have seen videos about it.
I've started playing a little while ago... I'm as far as to be able to auto B3, but not as far as to be able to dream on autoing D1... Or even C2, for that matter... Anyways, point being I'm quite new and your guides have been very, VERY helpful, so thanks a lot for that. With that being said, I'm a little concerned about not really being able to get single 138's on this event, as they're so highly praised. I know twin 127 is quite a solid option but I'd still like to know if those weaps do become available later on after the event ends.
It usually pops up in other events of the same faction, or when an event reruns. Eventually it will prob be permanently available in the War Archives, although that'd be a long time from now. Don't worry too much about it, it's just one weapon and it's normal to miss one thing or another when you've just started out and still leveling.
Oh and now you just reminded me that I missed the Zara gun back when I started in Empyreal Tragicomedy and she's one of my favorite ships............ lmao
@@Homiloko2 Thanks... It's actually quite reassuring what you said about Archives, even if it's a long time from now... I kinda want a Jean Bart since I actually got her gun, but not the ship herself lol Sorry about Zara's gun... You think a rerun for Tragicomedy is close? I'd like to get a nice Fromidable and, ofc, at least one of her Albacores hahaha
I still don't understand how you're supposed to save up so many PR blueprints. I've literally been doing research tasks nonstop for nearly half a year and only have 40 - 50 blueprints for each PR1 ship and 80 for the one that I'm focusing on. I don't usually have enough time or effort to be able to farm enough points every event to get all of the BPs from the event shop and even if I did it'd take me like what? 12 events? Like how are people able to max out multiple PR ships in under a year I don't understand.
If you don't spend a lot of coins ( u' ll have them only if u farm like a madman during non events) and don't get all the bp from events it will take a lot longer.
Every PR1 ship can be upgraded with coins instead of blueprints, I'm not sure about the other ones though. Actually now that I think about it that means i should be focusing on getting PR 3 and 4 blueprints instead...

With the introduction of UR ships I'm not sure about spending wisdom cubes on research.
Thx fot this video everyone needed this
Purple/Gold B is better than ANY C for pr2 and pr3. Gold C doesnt even give any BP most of the time because the drop rate is super nerfed
gold B researches b research time decreases as rarity goes up. Blue has 6h, purple has 4h, and gold has 3h.
Thank you Ander, very cool
Is there any video about reserch focus? cant seem to be able to do any othrer catch up exept the first one i chose (rune)!
Thanks for the info ander-sama
Oh and now you just reminded me that I missed the Zara gun back when I started in Empyreal Tragicomedy and she's one of my favorite ships............ lmao
Dont worry too much. Guns are only best till the next comes around. Powercreep is real and PR3 is coming probably with more OP gear...
@@hassathunter2464 I see your point... Guess I'll stop feeling bad for only getting one gold and one purple then. Thanks
I do project C when I'm about to go to bed. the long timer isn't wasted because I'm sleeping.
i have a question, if a ship is at cap level will the main still be gained for the 'accumulate exp' task?
sry this is really late but yes lol
What's the best research project if you want to farm up gear blueprints?
Q/E/T, all cost almost nothing
What do I do if it says research failed?
Only PR2 research gives the rainbow battleship main gun blueprint .
didn't know that about project H...
mostly skip it since it cost cubes even though had 700+ cubes...
If you hit 10k subs, waht would you make a 10k sub special vid?
how do u change it after you get all 300
So, how many Rainbow BP you have already?
Thank you for this.
How do the Air Raids work in the Essex event?
Which ships can be upgraded with coins instead of blueprints?
Every PR1 ship can be upgraded with coins instead of blueprints, I'm not sure about the other ones though.
Actually now that I think about it that means i should be focusing on getting PR 3 and 4 blueprints instead...
does focus really work, I put it on PR1 and still only get mostly PR2 bleuprints
Focus just guarantees 2 or 3. The others are random after that.
It does work.
is reaching lvl 30 in 12 hours normal?
Ander: mentions Project D
me: *eurobeat intensifies*
Please make a video on Commander exp.
I need to reach level 65 to start stage 9.
Honestly I've gotten more rainbow gun blueprints from the 1hr Q-project.
>Daily refresh.
How did I never notice that?
I just want the rainbow gun prints lol (Been stuck at 20 for like 2 months now and I grind almost every day)
its weird hearing the words "Project D" when not in the context of Initial D
Rip 4-age
The asmr azur lane youtuber
i have 400+ cubes. but i still don't select don't H ones
cubes are precious... for waifu!
Rainbow research exists. Super rare though.
What does PR mean?
PR = Priority = Lab, Research, aka those ships that take months to grind for in Azur Lane
He: only do it if you have tons of cubes
Me with 763 cubes: alright!!!
TL;DW
Do project H if you are a whale.
Do project D if you aren't.
This is important >
Ah yes that one rare research, it come like a ghost... THE SOUL FORMING~
