@@chazzanschutz6096 No. As I said, I'm a casual, i only play 1-2 hrs a day. That and because 7-2 isn't that reliable for gold anyway. At least not for me.
For my Cassin/Downes fleet I added Sims for the damage boost and it actually worked . This way I can keep only 1 BB at the back (preferably a cheap one with 155 secondaries) - Fuso and Yamashiro are perfect for it. You can also substitute Phenix with 3 comman cruisers (less cost - 2 oil for CLs and 3 for CA) and the servivabilty is fine because they are 3. The Jap and German ones are really good. This way you can farm the XP for PR vangard ships.
I once thought that I have too much oil to ever spend completely and starve for it. So I've been doing all sorties with 78-80 oil fleets. Now I don't have oil :(

@@essel3886 No it doesn't. Pretty sure he is referring to max limit breaking increasing the cost. I'd honestly max them too, since 0 LB farming is useless on EN. Level 70 is too low for anything other than leveling ships. Both cassin and downes are still cheap even at max LB.
@@SuperCatacata Oh ok, I was thinking to use them to lvling other ships or getting exp for PR ships but you may be right , if I want more exp the higher the better and those 2 may not survive, thanks for the clarification and your point of view
I have a Phoenix that is 120 at this point and I have a SECOND Phoenix at LB0 level 70 that I use in varied situations. On the Cassin and Downes in the lb0 level 70 configuration, I even bring them into event maps in very high difficulties if I need extra torpedo stat. Most of the time they actually will end up surviving all the mob runs most of the time.
I got lucky to have Perseus. So Zombiefleet + Perseus is OP. Fast clear on Mobs and can even clear Boss fleets. Now I'm using the Zombiefleet to farm the event. Didn't know that such things exist. I've always ignored Phoenix.
I started a few weeks ago and after getting Roon i was looking for more efficient ways of farming, this helped me a lot. Thanks and good job with these videos. Also your second attempt of pronouncing the name right was really close. Greetings from germany
So my Cassin and Downes both are 2/3 limit broken (because im new and just playing) should I stop leveling them (i think there 60ish) and raise a new pair?
I'm assuming the ship you want to pronounce at 5:20 is FdG? Because what you said sounds like somone translated the name into dutch and then pronounced it.
wow ander you talk so very fast i could barely understand you at the end and it was very entertaining. But thank you SO much for informing me about this I am forever grateful

Quick question to anyone who knows (if I missed this in the video sorry I suck :p), is there a oil penalty or level limit for retrofitting either Cassin or Downes? Should I just try to max out retrofitting both of them (or before modernization) or is there a down side to retrofitting them? Also awesome guide it was SUPER helpful!!!
I've only downloaded the game only a week ago.. still skk level 30..but this zombie fleet has really helped me push my games.. damn fun to use.. even cleared sp1-sp4 on the doa event easily.. i use phoenix, cassin & indy as vanguard yorktown, unicorn & hiryu at the back pretty much invincible.. doubt would work in pvp tho
Well, i have the same idea. But, the problems is on bombing ships. Due their lack of damage, sometimes the bombing ships are able to pass through our backline. So, if we use this fleet at least we need a battleship/battlecruiser in our backline. Doing full fleet of CV just make them a sandbag for the bombingships.
hey ander, what should I do if i’ve already limitbroken/retrofitted cassin and downes before being enlightened by your video? i was thinking of raising a new pair of C and D as zombie fleet, since it shouldn’t take too much time to get them to 70 and fully enhanced. love the videos man, you deserve 100x more subs than you have rn
Just a quick question, since Cassin and Downes have retrofits, should you still retrofit them as far as possible even if they won't get max limit broken?
@@ItsAnderYT OK, so I noticed that it's just +45 HP and +5 Reload if you don't limitbreak them even once ..... so it was kind of unnecessary to even ask this but thanks for the reply. XD
@@ItsAnderYT Sorry to bother you again but I just wanted to clarify, when you run Cassine and Downes at 7-2, do you clear the map - 5 battles + boss or do you just make all the fights until all secret nodes appear? Because my Cassine/Downes can handle the 5 fights but always die at the boss.
It takes so much time to farm with Cassin+Downes, it’s possible to 1:2 in events but it’s so slow... I’d rather use a lvl 70 Tashkent (Limited tho haha)
Great guide! But what about the main fleet? Lets say I want event stages farming and I don't try to level up ships. What ships would be good for main fleet with low cost oil?
what if the one I'm trying to level is a frontliner? Should I just bring either one of the 1 cost ship + the one I'm levelling? I have Erebus at 0LB Lv 70 for backliner if that helps.
You hear alot of discussion about this as some people say 11-2 while 7-2 also pops out. I will say its really hard or close to impossible to run a 0 LB casin/downs zombie fleet in 11-2 while on 7-2 you can run them on automatically. Ultimately it comes down to what I like to call the oil:time relationship. Do you prefer to maintain a healthy supply of oil in case of a event that you need to farm or do you not care about oil and just want as much xp as you can get. I will add that 7-2 is one of the better maps with regards to node drops for coins dorm food etc.
Oh god, that pronunciation of Friedrich der Große was a bit... The one around minute 8 was a lot better though As a native German speaker this is going to be my best effort at giving a quick and dirty ("close enough for government work") guide to a decent pronunciation of FdG. A quick baseline is that the english equivalent is "Frederick the Great" and I think that will come in helpful. I will try to go from familiar english words and names and introduce gradual changes until they sound like the German name. For "Friedrich", just start with "Frederick" for now. Now imagine it being "Friderick". Same as before, but the first "e" is replaced with the type of "i" sound you find in "frick." Now that we have our "Friderick", all we have to do is swap the "ck" with a "ch". It's pronounced like the "h" in "horn". So with this "Friderih" amalgamation we're pretty much there. I'd say that's close enough, though a few unpolished edges remain. For "der", I'll split it into two parts. The "de-" and the "-r". You pronounce the "de-" like the first half of "dere", as in "yandere". The "-r" is pronounced more like an "uh" or the "a" in "what". For "Große", just imagine a Canadian asking: "gross, eh?". Once you have that, cut the space in the middle so it sounds like a single word "grosseh". Right now the "e" is still emphasized, but we want to put more emphasis on the "o" instead. So we elongate the "o" sound and shorten the "e" sound, resulting in something like "grohse". "Friderih deuh Grohse". Reading that should sound close enough. The next changes in line would be making the o clearer and drastically changing the "r" sound, but that's way more outside of common english pronunciation. Other than that, a few historical tidbits: Cassin and Downes were present in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th 1941 and they happened to be in drydock together and right next to the battleship Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania being one of the battleships was obviously a priority target for the Japanese bombers and a 250kg bomb meant for her missed and hit Downes instead. That caused a massive fuel fire on Downes which eventually spread to her sister ship Cassin as well as the much larger Pennsylvania, where it continued to grow ("Baptismal Flames" is the name of their skills...). The fire eventually reaching their ammunition stores and causing detonations in both destroyers. Afterwards both of them were written off as practically unrepairable, but some parts of them (mainly their machinery) could be salvaged and were used in the building of two entirely new ships around those salvaged parts. These ships receiving the same names and hull numbers. Regarding Phoenix, I couldn't find any historical events to support her self-healing skill. I assume that was mainly a reference to the mythical Phoenix bird, which famously revives from its own ashes every time it dies. Though it should be noted that Phoenix was not named after the mythical bird. She was named after Phoenix, Arizona. The USN named all of their ships that were cruisers or larger after places in the US at the time. In this case it's interesting to note that the Japanese carrier Taihou, means "Great Phoenix", so the two of them can be considered namesakes. Phoenix' service with the USN was, well... nothing special? She is present for Pearl Harbor, but not atttacked directly. She is also part of the force that sinks Yamashiro at Surigao strait. Her service didn't end there however. After the war she was sold to the Argentine Navy and under the name "General Belgrano" she would be sunk by a British nuclear submarine (HMS Conqueror) during the Falklands War in 1982. I believe her Argentine service is why she has such a fiery temperament. Lastly, just a small piece regarding Minneapolis. A "Dullahan" is an old irish myth also known as the "headless horseman", characterized by not having a head on their neck and instead carrying it in their arms. Why is this relevant? The more astute will know that Minnie's self-heal skill references the Dullahan myth. During the Battle of Tassafaronga, Minneapolis was hit by two torpedoes, one of which caused her bow to collapse upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Damaged_USS_Minneapolis_%28CA-36%29_at_Tulagi_on_1_December_1942%2C_after_the_Battle_of_Tassafaronga_%2880-G-211215%29.jpg. She was saved through excellent damage control and by sailing her (backwards, due to the state of the bow) to Tulagi where she received light repairs and could then make the journey back to the US for extensive renovation. Edit: Finally got that damn link to work.

Personally, I would not recommend it. Phoenix is designed in a way where she is the best as the solo vanguard in order to maximize oil efficiency. Once leveled up and properly geared, she is able to survive up to 12-4 by herself. Adding other vanguards like Cassin/Downes doesn't add much and will end up costing extra oil, which is not good.
Omg as german to hear the pronouncination of "Friedrich der Große" be butchered so much was hillarious XD Also I kinda limitbreaked my Cassin/Downes, should I start with new ones?
Are you a collector? And if you are, are you F2P or only pay for skins (just use the free gems and apologems to buy dock space)? If you say yes to both, don't bother. This is mostly an extra efficiency enhancer rather than an absolute requirement given already how generous AL is when it comes to giving energy (AKA oil) than similar games so don't worry too much about it.
if you're farming lower level stages and want to save oil (ex: farming 7-2), then I would keep them at LB0 and not retrofit them. If you are planning to use Cassin/Downes for harder stages such as Chapters C and D for events, then MLB and retrofit them.
@@kirbyjaymillanes5174 the retrofit itself does not cost more oil, but in order to fully retrofit a ship you must max limit break them. Limit breaking a ship makes them cost more oil.
@@ItsAnderYT oh, i didnt know that. in acquiring the prize in the memento section. it does show that there are 5 stars, so you have to limit break them to get the reward?
if the ship sinks and you do another battle in that same fleet, the oil is not added. you just pay the amount of oil for the ships that are still afloat. I haven't tested this in a while, but I'm pretty sure this is the case.
Ander I am sorry I didn’t make my question clear. Let me elaborate. Indy cost 10 oils when fully Limit break. I have sunk her before. When I finished my stage and come out to look at her in dockyard. She now costs 11 oils. This is part of the game’s mechanics right?
@@leoliu5472 Oh! I see what you mean. I think it was unfortunate timing on your part, but that's probably because Indi happened to level up past a certain point. There are two reasons why oil cost goes up: limit breaking as well as getting higher level. If your Indi leveled up past a certain point, her oil cost can go up for that reason as well. Sinking ships does not increase their oil cost, I think you just had some bad timing and got confused. Hope this helps!
@Ander wait, the stuff I am confused about is that my Portland has always stays in cost of 10 oils ever since she has been fully Limit broke and she is at level 101 but my Indy is only at level 93 (which mean she is fully Limit broke) but costs 11 oils, even though they’re should cost the same amounts of oils.
I use pheonix instead of the cleveland class/Helena In my fleet so its no deal at all Cassin+Downes+Pheonix+any backline ships that heal my vanguard+Yorktown
I wish I had found this before I went and retrofitted them, but I might as well finish the job and bring them to level 120. Oh, you said Portland retrofit is good? That's somewhat relieving.
I usually farm two nornal stages when there isn't an event: I farm 7-2 when gold is top priority and xp is less emphasized for the 4 nodes that appear I farm 12-4 when experience is top priority since it's relatively easy to farm level 100+ ships here when on safe threat level and gives lots of xp
Affy Raffy I used Flecher, Thacter, spence/foote/Aulick unicorn, ranger, Shouhou until I got them. At the start, I used them to clear way for boss until they could kill it themselves.
I just use the low level or new ships to get them started. Going in with a fleet like this is just wasted XP since it's really easy. Combine with PR farming.
If you have some carriers you want to retrofit, then just do hard mode. It will take alot of IRL time, but not that much ingame time and oil, since you only have to fight the boss. As a side bonus, you will be swimming in CV retrofit blueprints.

Dang this strat seems op, I really may need to use this to farm Akagi and Kaga. aaaa pain
Now I don't have oil :(
As a german new player i did not understand the name of the ship you were farming for at all until you showed it. I rewinded the video and laughed my ass off. Good try tho! Thanks for the tipps and for making my day

Time to lvl a 2nd set of Cassin/Downes, my 1st set is retrofitted xD, and Phoenix deserve retrofit/skin!!! xD
But then she'd cost more!
@@freddytheshadowninja retrofitting augmented the oil cost of a ship? I didn't notice xD
@@SuperCatacata Oh ok, I was thinking to use them to lvling other ships or getting exp for PR ships but you may be right , if I want more exp the higher the better and those 2 may not survive, thanks for the clarification and your point of view
barrage isn't the only thing that tosa sneaks into your fleets, sometimes she pretends to be your DD too.
well she got torps hahaha
I admire the attempts at trying to pronounce friedrich der große properly. I 100% know I pronounce it wrong but close enough is good enough
I started a few weeks ago and after getting Roon

Thanks you so much, you help me a lot. I like the bgm too.
I'm assuming the ship you want to pronounce at 5:20 is FdG? Because what you said sounds like somone translated the name into dutch and then pronounced it.
the pronounciation just before 8:00 was quite a bit better, except the ch is pronounced as /ç/
Wait, to get some ships, you need to have other certain ships in certain levels to obtain them, or how does it work?

Your videos are amazing, thank you so much for making these.

Well Ander...
Eh... How do I put it lightly? :^)
how do you zoom in like that with your secretaries?
Welp I fked up and LBed Cassin and Downes LOL. TY for upload!
haha, good thing raising another set of LB0 Cassin/Downes won't require too much work!
Well, i have the same idea. But, the problems is on bombing ships. Due their lack of damage, sometimes the bombing ships are able to pass through our backline. So, if we use this fleet at least we need a battleship/battlecruiser in our backline. Doing full fleet of CV just make them a sandbag for the bombingships.
hey ander, what should I do if i’ve already limitbroken/retrofitted cassin and downes before being enlightened by your video? i was thinking of raising a new pair of C and D as zombie fleet, since it shouldn’t take too much time to get them to 70 and fully enhanced. love the videos man, you deserve 100x more subs than you have rn
making another pair of LB0 Cassin and Downes shouldn't be too bad, just like you said. If you want to be oil efficient, you should definitely do this.
Just a quick question, since Cassin and Downes have retrofits, should you still retrofit them as far as possible even if they won't get max limit broken?
Of course, those extra stats are always nice.
@@antialpaka1186 for 7-2, fight 3 mob fleets (which should spawn the 4 mystery nodes), and then retreat.
Phoenix deserves at least ONE skin, it is the most used ship in the whole game and the developers have completely forgotten her :(
Hey Ander what map would be best to farm xp for PR Ships?
I heard 12-4 is good, but I wouldn't know myself
You hear alot of discussion about this as some people say 11-2 while 7-2 also pops out. I will say its really hard or close to impossible to run a 0 LB casin/downs zombie fleet in 11-2 while on 7-2 you can run them on automatically. Ultimately it comes down to what I like to call the oil:time relationship. Do you prefer to maintain a healthy supply of oil in case of a event that you need to farm or do you not care about oil and just want as much xp as you can get. I will add that 7-2 is one of the better maps with regards to node drops for coins dorm food etc.
I do it on 7-2, while not as fast as world 12 you can farm coin at the same time.
Right now, I'd say farm D-3 in the current event. If the event is over. stick with farming 7-2 if you want gold, or for more xp farm 12-4.
Oh god, that pronunciation of Friedrich der Große was a bit...
The one around minute 8 was a lot better though
As a native German speaker this is going to be my best effort at giving a quick and dirty ("close enough for government work") guide to a decent pronunciation of FdG.
Other than that, a few historical tidbits:
Cassin and Downes were present in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th 1941 and they happened to be in drydock together and right next to the battleship Pennsylvania.

Can we start retrofiting Cassin & Downes to get them extra stats? Without increasing the oil cost?
you can do the very first two retrofit squares, but then it will require you to limit break them after that
@@ItsAnderYT Yeah that's fine: a little bit of hp and rld is still something! Thanks
Downes was my first retrofit.
HMS Neptune counts as zombie for skikikans that like to use Royal Navy fleet.
And also -Irisviel- sorry Yorktown.
Question if both downes and cassin will be retrofitted is the oil consumption will increase too?
Retrofit doesn't raise oil cost. Only max limit breaking does. (The problem though is in order to retrofit fully, most ships need to be level 75+).
@@chazzanschutz6096 thank you sir now i can hunt materials using those two :)
They have to be MLB too in order to get the last row in retro.
Do you recommend combining Phoenix with Cassin and Downes?
Personally, I would not recommend it.
Phoenix is designed in a way where she is the best as the solo vanguard in order to maximize oil efficiency. Once leveled up and properly geared, she is able to survive up to 12-4 by herself. Adding other vanguards like Cassin/Downes doesn't add much and will end up costing extra oil, which is not good.
No more dock space for lower rarities, I've only got Phoenix now. She good alone. Lowest oil I can go down to right now is 30 Oil for "Farming"
Omg as german to hear the pronouncination of "Friedrich der Große" be butchered so much was hillarious XD
Also I kinda limitbreaked my Cassin/Downes, should I start with new ones?
Are you a collector? And if you are, are you F2P or only pay for skins (just use the free gems and apologems to buy dock space)? If you say yes to both, don't bother. This is mostly an extra efficiency enhancer rather than an absolute requirement given already how generous AL is when it comes to giving energy (AKA oil) than similar games so don't worry too much about it.
@@rps215 Ahk, yeah collector and mostly f2p, I buy sometimes the monthly, if I run low on cubes.
Ander, how are you able to go directly into battle without going to the battle formation screen?
Fleet lock
Phoenix is Incredible but i hope they give her some skinns ;P Maybe a Retro
How can you put a Battleship in front fleet and a cruiser in back fleet ??
I just drop Gangut and the Smol Cruiser (26 oil), when I realized both reached lv 110 :D
sir, when using cassin/downes as zombie fleet, is it ideal to retrofit them? or not necessary?
if you're farming lower level stages and want to save oil (ex: farming 7-2), then I would keep them at LB0 and not retrofit them. If you are planning to use Cassin/Downes for harder stages such as Chapters C and D for events, then MLB and retrofit them.
@@ItsAnderYT Sir, will retrofitting them, cost more oil?
@@kirbyjaymillanes5174 the retrofit itself does not cost more oil, but in order to fully retrofit a ship you must max limit break them. Limit breaking a ship makes them cost more oil.
@@ItsAnderYT oh, i didnt know that. in acquiring the prize in the memento section. it does show that there are 5 stars, so you have to limit break them to get the reward?
for cassin/donwes in particular
I think this might be a stupid question, but if my ship sunk, they will have 1 + oil increase. Right?
if the ship sinks and you do another battle in that same fleet, the oil is not added. you just pay the amount of oil for the ships that are still afloat.
Sorry about my bad English.

I wish I had found this before I went and retrofitted them, but I might as well finish the job and bring them to level 120.
Oh, you said Portland retrofit is good? That's somewhat relieving.
why you don't retrofit Cassin/Downes ?
Do you recomend to Full Limit Break Phoenix?
Yes
Speaking of farming... What are your favourite stages to farm apart from 3-4 and 6-4, and why?
I usually farm two nornal stages when there isn't an event:
I farm 7-2 when gold is top priority and xp is less emphasized for the 4 nodes that appear
I farm 12-4 when experience is top priority since it's relatively easy to farm level 100+ ships here when on safe threat level and gives lots of xp
My disagreeable nature forced me to Retrofit Cassin and level her to 110, just because you said to keep her at 70.
No regrets at all.
Do people still use zombie fleets even with the new oil updates?
Not really, I would say just use whatever ships you need to level up now after the new oil changes.

Combine with PR farming.
