  • Join the boot fitter Henrik Enarsson in his workshop at K2's headquarter in Stockholm, Sweden. Come along on the ride and you will learn everything and a little more about ski boots.
    Subscribe to our channel: www.youtube.co...
In this first episode, Henrik explains how to divide different feet into three main types: flat, high arch and normal. The boot guru also describes the characteristic features of the different types, where problem can arise and which areas that can be particularly sensitive.
And by the way: Who is this guy Henrik Enarsson ?! Has he gone skiing or is he just a talkative salesman? These topics are what you´ll get in the first chapter of the boot school. Much pleasure!

I can verify these models are accurate, I’ve cut my foot open before it does look like that

I'd love to see more about how you tackle fit problems. I guess the most important one is to get the best shell for your type of feet. But then, how do you measure, mold and fit.

That was a lot of information about high arch and flat feet just to say that you shouldn’t try to fit into a normal boot.
Where did that dislike counter go?

I am an intermediate skier able to ride on easy black run. I like to buy my 2nd ski boot with better performance and comfort (+ custom mold foot bedding) after watching your episode 4, 5 & 6. How much average time, I expect to spend in a ski shop for selecting and fitting a serious ski boot? (no local ski shop in my area, so must fly to big city or ski resor for fitting)
      Thank you

Do you size the ski boot based on instep perimeter heel cup corner to heel cup corner in a Brannock or by foot length only?

Wish you would have suggested a few foots that are best for high instep

I have high instep and went with dalbello panterra via a boot fitter

I would try a 3 piece boot (dalbello or full tilt) or most nordica boots,

      Honestly,
whatever anyone says online, trying the actual boots, ( in the right size) sometimes with arch support ( generic or custom), sometimes without, will tell you exactly just how well they fit you.
It becomes very obvious to me over time that absolutely No One has the same preference and/or needs when it comes to ski boots.
Find the right place and they will take care of you. Try on some boots that appear to have the right features for you and don't be shy of asking any question. Cheers!

I have a sensation of pins and needles on the top of my toes (not the big toes) after skiing about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs. If I take the boots off for a while, then I can ski another 2 1/2 - 3 hours before the pain starts again. It seems like a nerve problem. I have custom footbeds and custom shot liners. I skied for years with other custom footbeds and liners with the same size and brand of ski boots with no problem. What can I do?

Try to leave your second buckle from the bottom relatively loose

Feet are unbelievably sensitive; however check that your heel is moving back into the pocket when you ski. If the boot heel isn’t fitted properly the the fore-foot can have all kinds of issues.

Go to a bootfitter. But if you won't you could try packing out the liner underneath your foot to create space, reducing pressure on your arch. All the veins and nerves run over top, so a lot of arch pressure will cut of circulation.

You seem to give problems, but no solutions? For example for the high arch foot, what is the solution to stop the pain when skiing? do you have any solutions?

Does anyone actually have a foot that resembles the high arch example here? Surely not a ski boot on the planet would fit that?

Same my friend. WE leave duck tracks at the poolside. And what he said about the ski boots causing pain on the protruding ankle bone is exactly correct.
