Like your way of doing that! I've been winding yarn for years.(I'm as old as Methuselah😂). I wrap round 2 fingers then fold and wrap and turn. Same concept❤
Loving your fur catbaby❣️ my fur catbaby perked up at hearing yours. 🤷
Enjoy your tutorials and have used many of them as I don't read a pattern, never learned to old now to learn😂

I love it when Olive stops by❤. When I start winding yarn one of my cats always comes running , knowing that I’ll wind a ball for her to play with. That’s a great technique thanks for sharing.

These videos off yours are so good for beginers. I always try to ball my scrap wool, but OMG when there's a tangled mountain of wool that gets tangled,,,,well let's just say its better than therapy 😂. I find that relaxing and ive been crocheting my since water was invented 😂. But since i found you tube a couple of years ago i just love crochet videos , and I've learned new styles of crochet here from you, your one of my favourites. Love from Ireland xx

Thanks for doing this tutorial. This is certainly a much neater way to start winding a ball of yarn plus I think it keeps the yarn soft (if there’s such a thing). I think that the yarn is stretched more the way I do it. Love hearing Olive in the background. At first I thought it was a baby 😄😄

Thanks for another helpful video! I love the way you start with a figure eight- keeps it tidier that way.
I’ve always wound the yarn over two fingers (removing them and replacing as I wind) to keep the yarn from getting too tight and stretched. The ball stays snug, but there’s a tiny bit more air between strands. Same idea as your thumb, perhaps.
Anyway, I’ll definitely start now with the figure 8. Many thanks again! 💕

and if you leave your tail hanging out in the beginning, it ends up a center pull ball :) You can use your first finger too and put your finger all the way through and your finger ends up serving as almost like a nostepinne. Sharpie markers work great too in place of a thumb or finger :)

    • @BlossomCrochet

I wind mine with the starting tail hanging out so I have the pull coming from the inside. This way the ball doesn’t move all over the place as I pull the yarn out. If you do this, don’t do the figure eight in beginning because it will tangle the yarn.
