I took this rifle out to Arizona, and took a very nice javalina at 85 yards using the JSB 77 grain pellet. The gun worked a charm, and the shot was taken offhand... I like the ergonomics of this gun!
The gun is putting out about 125 fpe in .357. The guns are available in .177, .22, .25, .357, .45, and .50. Sold in the USA by Pyramyd Airguns. Think they're all available now.
I have to say this gun has impressed me. Two days after I got it I went to the local range to sight in the scope. As soon as it was zeroed I went for groups at 25 yards. 7 shots in one hole using JSB 77gr pellets. I pushed out to 50 yards and re-zeroed. I sent 14 rounds down the barrel and managed a 1" group. This was before I even cleaned the barrel. I am looking to set up a hog hunt soon in my area and I will let you know how it goes. I just ordered more of the JSB from PA as well as a few that are a bit heavier.
Glad to hear you're getting such good results, the more I shoot this rifle the more I like it! I'm at the NRA meeting this weekend and spoke with the guys at Pyramyd. It was confirmed that my carbine is on the way ....... and I can't wait! Look forward to hearing the details of your pig hunt, as well as your results with other projectiles.
americanairgunhunter For right now I am going to keep the distance short 15 to 40 yards. After I see how it takes a few down I will reach out a bit further. Loving this rifle.
Hi Peter, This rifle has much better balance than expected... and the carbine I handled at SHOT was better still. As mentioned it really surprised me how well this bare bones design works. With respect to the picatinny rails (and though there are other ways to approach it) I do find them useful for mounting lights (for night hunting), bipods, and cameras. If it was just based on tactical looks I wouldn't be taking this gun hunting. I've had it out plinking while walking through the woods, and have shot it off hand, braced against trees, rocks, and on shooting sticks and it handles well. Your points are all valid though, and what you propose would be cool and probably shoot well. Though I've shot many rifles that use the bottle as a buttstock, with the different ideas on how to incorporate a buttstock and cheekpiece, they often come up feeling like they were components hung on a bottle, or a bulky container attempting to hide it. The Gladiator/Verminator approach taken by FX is about the best approach I've seen.
Thanks for the overview of the gun! Its seems very promising. With that said I would love to see the videos in at least 720p so I can view them a little easier... Cheers, Greg
Another good video JC. Now, I noticed the fluting on the barrel. Is that all barrel or is the barrel shrouded and the shroud is fluted? Evanix really lived up to the tactical look with that rifle and I LOVE IT. Lots of features on that gun from muzzle to butt pad..........WOW!
The barrel is shrouded and the brake screws in. The barrel ends a few (maybe 3") short of the shroud, so with the brake in place serves as a single baffle. I'll post a photo of this close up over on the YF. I can see where this gun would be right in your wheelhouse.
Love your videos. . You always do good reviews... Can you please tell me what other pellets or bullets you can use in this rifle and how many good shots pet fill? Thank you. .. I'm in the middle of deciding what rifle to purchase. .. Thanks againg.
Reminds me of something out of Blade Runner! I love the look of it. Looks like it smacks real hard too. I hear you on the Minnesota cold. I was driving cross country and was in Minnesota on Friday. The whole Midwest is freezing!
I can't believe how the gun is growing on me..... one thing though, I took it out in the morning and it transmits the cold very effectively, thought it was frozen to my hands after fifteen minutes of carry!
Jim you are great men I love Airgun hunting wen I saw your video thinking a jarviline I both one to evanix sniper rifle,it's awesome I'm have take a deer head shot wow at 50yard mission complete so Jim thank you keep going strong on your hunting special big bore Airgun videos great.
I want the 45cal version and if I get it I'm painting that wood cheek peace black that Brown doesn't look good on there to me. Next I like to get the Walther Reign bullpup. Hope you do a review on that one soon.
Just figured out who you are and love reading your reviews! Most recent I read from you was on the AT44 Hats an, really nice piece...good read.:-) Glad I found your UA-cam channel!:) Happy/Safe Shooting, agw.
AirGunWarriors Thanks ....I'm still trying to figure out who I am :) .Glad you found the channel and it's good to have you here. Getting ready for a P-dog shoot in S.Dakota day after tomorrow, and the AT 44 is one of the guns I'm packing for the trip. I'll post something on it soon. Jim
Hey man, thanks for the video. 1. would you recommend this gun 2. what caliber 3. is it loud, can i shoot in my backyard without startling the neighbors. thanks
Great Video. How did it go over a chrony? I am looking for something to go hog hunting with here in FL. I am trying to sell two Career II 707's one in .22 and one in .25 Great shooters and I have taken a hog with the .25. I just want more range and power.
I see you were using JSB's with your Evanix Sniper. How many shots did it take before yours was broken in and grouping well. I just picked mine up a few days ago and put almost 100 rounds down the pipe and still a bit erratic. Unfortuneately everyone is out of the JSBs for at least another 2 weeks. So I have been trying the Air Venturi Hollow point 95 grains (which I think might be the issue because they do not seem very aerodynamic at all). Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Rashad, I have only been using the JSB pellets, as in my experience these .357 guns (I have several in my collection) do better with the pellets than cast bullets. The exceptions to this are the more powerful .357's like the Sam Yang Recluse. If you can't get the JSBs, give the Eun Jin a try. My gun had settled in shortly into the first tin.
americanairgunhunter Yeah, I ordered some JSBs and should be here early this week. Those Cast 357s will not group less than 3-4 inches at 50 yards (but typically about 5 inch groups). I am seeing people do 1/2 inch groups at the same distance and I can only assume they were shooting JSBs and Eun Jins instead of cast bullets. Thanks for the quick response and help. I was on the fence about buying this gun until I saw it in two of your videos and if I can get it within a inch(ish) at 50 yards I will be very happy.
Still have it and still use it.... one of my go to predator rigs as a matter of fact. Never had a problem with it. Been hunting with it around 7 years now!
Problem is the magazine is too short and will only take 9mm pellets that are around the 100 grain weight range , meaning it won’t accept the Benjamin 145 gr. Nosler like the 9mm Bulldog will . That being said this is nothing but a high priced plinker and isn’t meant for any serious hunting.
Hi Jason; You're right and it is. I was sighting in and getting ready for a coyote hunt, and I was thinking in that context. Sorry for the misinformation.
americanairgunhunter Hey Jim, great vid! Rainstorm II or Sniper, which would be your favorite in .357. Accuracy being most important and power a close second? lastly which is quieter? Thanks!
Travis Peacock Hi Travis, sorry for the delayed response but I just saw this message. It's hard to say, the same action with comparable performance. I like the more classic lines of the Rainstorm, but must confess the minimalist yet ergonomic design of the Sniper grows on me with surprising intensity..... either is a great hunting gun in my books.
My understanding is that it is a function of energy levels, under 12 fpe no FAC is required, over you need a FAC. I've never heard that caliber factors in, of course a 12 fpe .357 would have the trajectory of an underhand lob of a brick.
+theoriginalmungaman This is one of my favorite suburban predator guns. Taken a lot of coyote and a few fox and raccoons with it. Also done a javalina and a couple feral hogs with it. Depends what you want to use it for, but I think for a 50-75 yard yote guns its great. As a rule, if I'm going to step up the power, probably not going to use a .357, and definitely not a .35 diabolo pellet. So if you're talking about a big game gun I'd agree with you, if talking about a coyote gun I don't.
+theoriginalmungaman If I was going to go for a more powerful gun in .35, it would without doubt be the AirArms Slayer, It is a lightweight, compact. ultralight, the most accurate .35 I've ever shot, very quiet .35 bullpup that's putting out about 300 fpe. My next choice would be the Quackenbush .308, for a more traditional rifle. There are a lot of very powerful .30's out there as well. When going for a more powerful rifle, most of the guys I know that do a lot of big game hunting, opt for a larger caliber. The Bulldog has done a fine job for me on coyote and a decent sized pig (with a headshot).
+americanairgunhunter Since were talking about "Tactical" .357's the only advantage I see with the American air arms Slayer bullpup is a 75 fpe higher claimed muzzle energy. But at twice the price I don't see it. I could have the Benjamin tuned to come close to the Slayer and still have money left. In my opinion the Slayer has a homemade look to it, and has less rail space. The weights are about the same and the Benjamin will have support for a long time. Have you shot the Benjamin?
I took this rifle out to Arizona, and took a very nice javalina at 85 yards using the JSB 77 grain pellet. The gun worked a charm, and the shot was taken offhand... I like the ergonomics of this gun!
What kind of power is it producing? Who is selling them? Evanix's facebook page shows them coming out with .45 and .50. Anyone know when?

americanairgunhunter What are your thoughts on the evanix rainstorm ii in .357?I am seriously considering one.
+americanairgunhunter what are the fpe with those jsb pellets...
Hi Gerald; the JSBs are are generating about 100 fpe in this gun.
I have to say this gun has impressed me. Two days after I got it I went to the local range to sight in the scope. Comes in .45 and .50 cal now, too. Interesting since there's a magazine in all calibers.

That's not betray us. My dream rifle.
^^

Waiting on mine to come in from P.A.
WHAT IS THE REFERENCE OF THE AIR TANK THAT YOU USE TO FILL UP THE EVANIX SNIPER RIFLE IN THIS VIDEO?
Now that a couple years have passed, what issues are/were you having, and do you still have the gun?
Great Video. How did it go over a chrony? I am looking for something to go hog hunting with here in FL. I am trying to sell two Career II 707's one in .22 and one in .25 Great shooters and I have taken a hog with the .25. I just want more range and power.
Hi is this rifle shoots the 77.8 grs "Eujins" ?¿ Thanks
Sorry one one question....whats more powerful this gun r the rainstorm.... I'm trying to decide... Thanks againg.
there the same gun..one is tactical the other is traditional with the wood stock...

Still have it and still use it.... one of my go to predator rigs as a matter of fact. Never had a problem with it. Been hunting with it around 7 years now!
Is this gun available for sale ? This same exact gun
It was being carried by Pyramyd Air in both rifle and carbine...... not sure of the status right now. Give them a call for recent info.

Could you fill it with a hill pump?
znar doz sure, it's a bit of work but no more than any other 3000 psi gun. Hill is a great pump btw, I use one when I travel sometimes.
como eu posso fazer uma compra?eu sou do Brasil
Вот так винтовка, для настоящего любителя стрельбы. (RUS)
Can you shoot a hog in broadside and still kill it
head shot on those hogs...
All details shown, excellent, with stupid music.
Too much money for not enough power!
