Not yet, and I want to also try the polishing part with one of those magic erasers (the white ones for scrubbing sinks from Dollar Tree) to see how it turns out. I wonder if it will be like A) that technique where you ink one side of an embossing folder, or maybe like B) when you sandpaper an embossed design on white-core colored card stock. As I mentioned elsewhere, I am packing to move, so all my crafting is in my mind’s eye at the moment. I picture myself unpacking like the cartoon Tasmanian Devil to get to my crafting supplies 🤣😎😉.
🤣 Tasmanian Devil …so funny. I have NEVER fully unpacked ever. I’m down to 1 storage unit though, so that’s huge for me! I cannot purge things. I haven’t been a teacher since 1997 and I still have teaching resources 🙄. In terms of a magic eraser, it is abrasive so I would think it would distress the card - especially photo paper which is very thin for a top layer.
Such pretty Fall cards! Curious what the purpose of the alcohol on the cotton ball is? And why liquid glue in addition the the glue dots…. Inquiring minds want to know 🤣🤣😀🧑🏼🎨. Always trying to learn better techniques!! TY! 🤗🍁🌻
Liquid glue allows me just enough wiggle room to adjust location. If I just used Artist Tac, it would grab and that’s that. I’m not sure why the alcohol works. I’ve added ink to a cotton ball before and it’s very concentrated color. Maybe the alcohol thins it out without diluting the color as water would. All great questions!
I've never seen this technique, but I love the results. Don't have photo paper or glossy cardstock, but will give it a go with the Yupo paper I have. Thank you for sharing!
I have not tried this before!! But I will !!! Beautiful cards!! Beautiful rings!! This there sapphire in there? That is my birthstone and my favorite!!
Yes they are! I designed my rings. I had wanted London Blue Topaz for the stones…to match my wedding gown, but the breakage rate was crazy. I had it made with Sapphires instead. I love them! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. If you do give it a try, we would love to see what you create on our Facebook page - Village card and crafts. Thank you!
I have tried this in the past using distress oxide sprays & found a super cool effect by only removing small amounts of the oxidation & leaving some. I think I mainly did it just by accident, but it would be possible just using a cotton tipped swab or folded piece of kitchen paper or tiny corner of cloth & just working on certain areas. If you put the ink down in rings, just removed the oxide from the inside rings & then left the outside, you could create a polished geode (thunder egg) effect. (spookily, I just found the pieces I made by accident a couple of days ago & was trying to remember how I made them, so thank you 😊)
That sounds amazing! Love the idea of rings. If you are inclined, I’d love for you to share those cards on our Facebook group - Village card and crafts.
This was so neat to watch!! I’m fairly new to paper crafts as I didn’t know about it until after I retired from teaching math. I’m so glad your video came up in my feed!! I just ordered the last round of the 60+ oxides except for the one color that was out of stock and looks like I will have to order some of the reinkers quicker than I had planned…lol. Usually I wait for a sale because I need so much. Maybe I’ll get just a few because this looks so neat plus I have a lot of photo paper. Your cards turned out really nice! Thank you for sharing the technique and your talent with us ❤ With much appreciation, Nancy Rolfe
Welcome to the world of paper crafting! It’s fun but expensive 😂. I taught elementary school for a short time, but chose to leave after being assaulted by a 2nd grader. Kudos to you for being able to retire from teaching! Check JoAnns online for Reinkers. They run pretty good sales often so keep checking. I use scrapbook.com for a lot though. They give you 1-2 free items each order, so don’t forget to check out the deals and coupon section!
Thanks for watching! Since those inks are due based inks you could use anything similar. I primarily is Distress Oxides, so that’s what I used. If you try it with another type of ink let me know how it went!
I have a good amount of photo paper, and a photo printer that died. I will be trying this!! I've done dye or archival reinkers with alcohal, and I've used oxides then gone over it with the other TH product that makes things water resistant and removes the oxide haze, but that looks different than this. Thank you for this technique!!
Great idea! I do see photo paper from time to time at thrift stores! Please post your makes on Village card and crafts on Facebook! We would love to see what you do with them. ❤️
Will do. I am packing to move, and don’t have a place yet, so it may take a while, but I’m looking forward to trying and posting. I have a dandelion-gone-to-seed 2D folder I want to try.
Great video! I have used Distress Oxide on photo paper but used the sprays instead of the reinkers on a cotton ball. Love the tip about the vellum. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. I had never seen this technique before. Have you tried it with just standard pigment inks? I am wondering if it will eliminate the white chalky look in the crevices when you wipe it down, but still leave the intense pigment color. Just curious.
Not yet! I don’t have any pigment inks, but I sort of like that chalky look…especially with the leaves. If you try it with pigment ink, I’d love to see it! Show us your projects on Facebook at Village card and crafts. 😊
On the glossy photo paper the liquid glue didn’t hold well on my example. I went with the stickier tape runner for the remaining cards. Probably could have use Matte Medium to get the job done. It was just a matter of preference.
Very cool effect. Did you not shake the re-inkers on purpose? I noticed the sediment was settled in the colours you used. Was that to reduce the amount of oxidation you had to rub off?
No it wasn’t to reduce the oxidation. I had shaken all the bottles before filming. It just settled that quickly. My mica stains are a bear to shake up, too.

very clever vellum trick thanks for sharing 🥰

Easy technique but it turns out so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much 😊. I appreciate you’re watching and commenting.
I especially love the vellum sandwiched between two word sentiments!
Thank you! ❤️
I've never seen this technique, but I love the results. Don't have photo paper or glossy cardstock, but will give it a go with the Yupo paper I have. Thank you for sharing!

I learned this technique in a video from Gina K. about 15 years ago. Never thought about trying it with Oxides. Thanks for sharing!!
You are so welcome! 😊
Very pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Love your channel! You have ideas that I don’t see anywhere else. Great job💕

Awesome technique! I think this glossy paper would work well with die cutting leaves! Thanks so much for the inspiration !👍
You’re very welcome! It’s great for leaves and lots of other die cuts as well! Give it a try. I hope you love it as much as I do! 😊
I’ve seen many many cards lately, but these are outstanding beautiful. Thank you.

There is often photo paper in packs of 4x6 or 8 1/2 x 11 at the thrift shop, I found a lot there almost any time I go, can hardly wait to try this.

Why did you not like the liquid glue? I have used tape runners and found out later that my cards came apart.😢
On the glossy photo paper the liquid glue didn’t hold well on my example. I went with the stickier tape runner for the remaining cards. Probably could have use Matte Medium to get the job done. It was just a matter of preference.

Why did you ink both happy birthday sentiments if you were gonna stack them?
Because I wasn’t thinking 🤦🏽♀️😂
@@villagecardandcrafts oh. Ok. Whew! I thought I was missing something. Thank you!
Thanks for pointing that out! I can’t believe I did that 😂
Why not just use the glue instead of both microdots and glue?
