    Donnie this video helped me out today. I discovered my distributor came loose and couldn't remember how to set the static timing. After fighting with it for a little while your video helped me out.

    Good info thanks! That is the importance of finding true TDC and marking the harmonic damper.

    Nice man 🤘🤘 I just threw that at the beginning of my last video. Lots of people have asked me about how to do it. I’ll direct them here from now on 👍👍

    Ooooooooo! 😬😬 Jus an FYI, I know Ive seen on the Holley forum a couple times where Danny mentions that while you can jack with the numbers in the software, its best just to loosen that lil bitty bolt on the dist and fix it there. Not sure why this makes a difference. But I like the idea of having it physically correct. But thats just me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Why not just change ur static timing to 18 to match balance

    Donney b help me out bud. My car when I set the static timing at 10 and do the rev test it goes to 20° then back down to 10° when I left off. When do you think will help?

    How about on a car that won’t idle at all is this something that needs to be done prior to attempting to start for the first time ?

    Static timing is with the spout out. Once you put it back in, the Terminator is going to change the timing. Are you saying to check the static timing with the Terminator X "check static timing".....and do so with the spout in? Also, wouldn't your timing table change your timing when you rev it to 2,000 RPM? Why are you forcing it to stay at the static value? I am asking this in a serious way. I just want to understand. I am very interested in taking the advice you offer in this video. Thank you for making it.

      There is no spout with the terminator x. The static locks the timing at a specified value and you need to verify the balancer reads the same as the static value.

      @@strangedemon Thanks a lot for the quick reply and explanation. My system was installed by a speed shop and I didnt realize the spout was no longer used. Great tip.

    Ok. Im new to holley and a little lost on this. My base timing on engine was 10btdc .. when i start the car and set static to say 14degrees it goes like 8Atdc..

      @strangedemon  Рік тому

      If you set the timing in the static setting to 14 and hit set and the balancer is showing 8 with a timing light either move the distributor physically to advance to match to 14 or use the reference angle to change it

    Great video, but I have a question. In the idle table do you have the idle spark enable box checked, or unchecked to do this?

    • @glenndiorio8967
      @glenndiorio8967 Рік тому

      That box should be un-checked when you do this. It'll keep timing from bouncing around. After you're happy, check the box.

      @strangedemon  Рік тому

      When you have the static timing up and hit "set" it disables the P and D term idle spark and will leave it disabled until you hit "clear" on static timing.

  • @cmpunk1975

    Good video buddy. I imagine this is with the car at operating temp? Is idle spark enabled or disabled when doing this?

    • @strangedemon
      @strangedemon  2 роки тому +1

      Idle spark gets disabled when you hit set in static timing

    I did all of this but the numbers on balancer will not stay still. Bounces all over the place. Any ideas? Sbf 331 turbo car. Thanks

    • @strangedemon

      Did you click set when you had your number entered? Shouldn't bounce at all under static

    • @joeytyler2081
      @joeytyler2081 2 роки тому

      @@strangedemon I did. Still bounces around. In the software it is set at 10°. Timing table at idle is set at 20°. Do I enter 10° or 20°?
