Love this videos, I trained WC for 3 years and it's my favorite martial art, since I can no longer go to my school i still practice on my own but many questions are raise, and this videos tend to explain them to me ^^
Lin Kuei Thank you. These videos only briefly cover the information there's so much more to add. Of course, if you have any questions or there is an area that you would like us to film. We are open to your suggestions. Thank you again for your support.
I appreciate this funny, positive instructor. I feel like if I were attempting these moves from this video , the opponent would kick me before I could get close...
Arnaud Baernhoft Well we are trying to put these videos out to help with your training at our academy. Hopefully they will reinforce the information we're giving you in class and improve your Wing Chun further.
Very true to life in an aggressor attack who generally have a 1 dimensional "crowding of your space" approach, in which timing and reaction time are vital, regardless of type of response.
scott742009 Hi Scott. What you see is subtle head movements to slip punches and increase mobility. As a general rule, if you move your head you can move your feet quicker. Of course the trick is not to move your head to much as it becomes inefficient and possibly breaks the structural aliment of the spine and hips. The converse is that if you don't move your head you'll find it very difficult to increase mobility to a natural point, and this will have an effect on your timing in Wing Chun. Besides, it makes sense to move your head if someone is really trying to punch you in the face. I hope that helps you.
@@fightscience When my Sifu taught me it was more of a modern WC and we adapted to the situation. You can go traditional but in a fight there are too many variables.
@@JIBMONEYgood add. Although we should try to avoid the term modern Wing Chun. Wing Chun was created as adaptive and evolving art. If you look at the history even up until Yip Man it was ever changing and improving. This developmental practice does NOT exist in the current generation. Hence the lack of ability to compete/compare with the current fighting styles. It's very simple evolve or become obsolete. Just sharing my thoughts.
Sifu Mark, quick question: based on the subject of this video, would you recommend seeking the bridge and taking the initiative in a fight rather than waiting for the other person to start?
Kashif Amin Good question. Ultimately you have to judge the situation as you see it at that moment in time. There's arguments for and against. If you move first you are essentially attacking the other person (which has a many connotations) or you can take the risk of allowing the aggressor to hit you first. It's a judgement call that I can't advise on, only the person in the situation is able to make that decision. I hope that helps you.
+Mark Cohen Thank you, although this a very old video. It was orginally filmed in 2007 as part of an instructional DVD that was never released, so nearly 10 years old now. Thanks for watching.
+Ash Mohamed Thanks for the question Ash. I'm a bit confused by the term 'FogHorn'. What did you mean by this? Thanks for watching. Having said that, although unrealistic to say, never make the other guy's strength an issue. Try to use skill where possible. Thanks for watching.
punches are too dangerous as kicks to my opinion. a friend of mine killed a drunk bully dude years ago in his own bar while threatened with a bottle of beer. useless to mention how he was broken inside...didn t want to kill the guy , but consequences are what they are..."irreversibili" we say in italian. So we start to slap around when things get nasty at least there are less brawls death on list😐 i think thing are so because most of these violent ppl did not take a real beat up in their whole entire pathetic life.never say never thou😬😹💪🏼💚

Good stuff. I learnt the punch is the simplest way to get through their guard. Of course whilst focusing on the principals.

Was nice after class yesterday to continue the lesson at home with this geat video.

What about head movement based-defenses ? thx tho
I’ve visited a couple WC schools and they don’t teach real applications like you do. You’re training is real life situations.
Exelent Sifu allways!!!
Just an observation I see you are bobing and weaveing is that something you actively teach or just something that fills right ????

@@fightscience I like your comment and yes you corrected me. Ever changing and ever improving was what I was taught. Thank you for the correction.

I see. That makes sense Sifu. As you once said, there are too many 'What ifs..' :)
good stuff sifu keep them coming

If you are throwing your hand forward, why not just hit?
starting trouble is Dr. Mark's Best Asset.. Do not stand in front of him..RUN AWAY.
Sifu would all the same principles apply if the person you foghorn is much bigger and stronger then you !
