In a Larian game you just know an ability to talk with animals is going to pay off.
Bear putting on the first hat he finds is like Wall-e grabbing every piece of human thrash to try and understand it. It goes very much with his character.

SUGGESTION: Could you please turn the character voices and narrator volume up more? It's very difficult to hear anyone.
I noticed when you were picking the locks, that you skipped the 'add bonus' option. If you've got a companion that has guidance or something similar, they can add bonuses to your skill checks. When a check comes up, near the bottom is a + that says add bonus. Click that.
Additionally, with Shadowheart, her Sacred Flame would have allowed you to get around the issue you had with the firebolt as it isn't as restricted by barriers in the path.
For recommendations - I'd kit Astarion out with two scimitars or two shortswords. Give him more options in combat.

Loving the playthrough. FYI, Thief's tools and trap disarming kits are *used* on the attempts, but they are only *consumed* if you fail the attempt. It's sort of misleading that you get the notice that you 'used' them when you succeed because it makes it seem as though they are used up.
You loot the same way I do:
“Apple? Don’t mind if I do.”
“Hat? Don’t mind if I do.”
“Broken plate? Don’t mind if I do.”

For speak with Animal, you cast the spell beforehand, it last until a long rest (I think) and then you start the interaction. I think the pig failure was just you still thinking about having a knife pulled on you.
The best way not to min max is just go with what the character would be like
You don't need advantage to be able to use sneak attack, it's enough if the target is distracted by your ally standing next to it. It also (generally speaking) only provides minor boost to damage. As for Astarion, I think story wise Arcane Trickster works for him, enchantments, fogs and so on work well with his personality ;)
enjoying this playthorugh a lot so far! I've been playing through the game bit by bit and then watching your LP, it's interesting to see the differences and possible branches of actions.

sad we missed Zhaik's sword, but as someone who once replayed the intro fight 18 times to get it cause the mindflayer kept dying, I get it! Apparently some people say you can beat him AND the cambions, or block them with chests but I haven't managed, I just try to kill him usually. lol

I like Astarion(?) as a stealth archer. He seems like the type that wouldn't want to get his hands dirty.
Oh no, Astarion is my kind of character for sure... chaotic neutral and pretty.

Talk to Withers and respec Shadowheart as a 'Life domain' Cleric. Then you can rely on her as the primary healer.
She's really hampered by the default sub-class.
She's a cleric of Shar and that would really go against her backstory in any RP/story focused playthrough.
Any multiclass option interesting AND suitable storywise?
@@Edrahil17 I don't see how, She's already set up as the only viable healer for your party. It won't change any of her dialogue or flavor, just the spells she can use.

How much BG3 brign from divinity and how much from BG? I loved BG1 and 2 but hated Divinity as I hated no other game in my life.
It will be a brave game dev to actually limit what you can carry so your characters don't walk around like a min Walmart.

My problem with Rpgs is that Magic is always overpowered, while melee is underpowered. Also it would be cool if Magic use had bigger consequences
