I have well over 30 roses in my garden and this one out performs them all. Absolutely covered in huge deep cupped blooms that hold up well, extremely healthy, it is now a huge shrub almost 6 ft tall and approx 4 ft wide l actually prefer the colour once it has faded slightly, it has lilac silvery grey tones and l have it in the middle of a mid pink, pale pink border and it holds on to it's blooms longer than the rest of my other rose shrubs. A really valuable work horse of a rose. It's also held up really well in this intense heat, the blooms are enormous, l do have to give it a bit of support because of the sheer amount of flowers it produces. I haven't had any problems regarding blackspot, , I've allowed it plenty of space which it needs. It's a really easy rose in my opinion to look after, fuss free.
@@the_gardenerben I agree and fully share this opinion. I find your reviews amazing amazing very professional. I listen to your opinion, thanks to your reviews, I drew attention to two yellow roses on Lady Shallot and Lady Emma Hamilton. however, the short summer in Finland, where I grow roses, brings its own characteristics.
Thanks Ben. I was having a pretty ordinary day today but watching this video and seeing you swoon thru the various scent notes cheered me up no end and made my smile. Cheers
I have it for 3 years grown in pot, bought it bare rooted. Really big flowers! Just like peonies. Smells great. That is true it will defoliate if stressed, also the bush itself looks quite ugly. I grow it in the pot and when finishes flowering I move it somewhere else where it is not seen. While in bloom i see people stopping and taking pictures of it!
Thanks for the honest review, as always. I was planning on adding this one next year, but in its place, I’ll be on the lookout for a Darcey or Munstead
Thanks so much for this review. I remember when I asked you about a review on this beauty and you responded telling me about the rat incident. I’m so glad that you had another and it’s turned out great this time around.
Good evening Ben. I am planning on getting a standard rose and can’t decide between Boscobel and young Lycidas?? Can you help me choose which is a better performing statement rose. Thank you
@@lloydbovensiepen5773 I think your decision has to be made on the colour preference both roses perform very well and make good hands some specimens when it comes to standard roses please make sure that you follow the link in my bio and make the most of my exclusive online discount gates.
